1 out of 5 eggs4 sticks have gone bad since 2013

This review is from: CORSAIR Vengeance 16GB (2 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1866 (PC3 15000) Desktop Memory Model CMZ16GX3M2A1866C10

Pros: None

Cons: I've gone through two replacements already and both sticks of the set I'm on now have gone bad.

I'm done going through the replacement process. I'm not even going to waste my time replacing these, I'll just buy new RAM.

5 out of 5 eggsIt's ram

This review is from: CORSAIR Vengeance 16GB (2 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1866 (PC3 15000) Desktop Memory Model CMZ16GX3M2A1866C10

Pros: They work.

Cons: A little too tall for my tastes.

Other Thoughts: Be sure to have a mobo that can adjust the speed. Mine came out of the box at 1333Mhz.

3 out of 5 eggs

This review is from: CORSAIR Vengeance 16GB (2 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1866 (PC3 15000) Desktop Memory Model CMZ16GX3M2A1866C10

Pros: Decently priced

Cons: You need to be a little bit a wizard to be able to get the timings for 1866 right.

Other Thoughts: This is pretty outrageous. Most people wouldn't even notice that their memory after install is operating at 1333 (or something like that).
I don't understand how it's even legal to sell something that does not operate as advertised straight out of the box.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Memory, but check your manual first

This review is from: CORSAIR Vengeance 16GB (2 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1866 (PC3 15000) Desktop Memory Model CMZ16GX3M2A1866C10

Pros: Outstanding memory at 1.5v - couldn't really ask for anything more. Haven't experienced a single issue.

I purchased this memory for my ASUS Z-97 Pro motherboard, combined with an Intel Core i& 4790K CPU. The combo works great together, and has since day 1. I haven't had to touch much of anything.

Anytime you are purchasing memory, you need to look at the motherboard manufacturers website to get the memory/vendor compatibility information (ASUS calls this the QVL, or Qualified Vendor List). For me, that was at http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/Z97PRO/HelpDesk_QVL/ Always triple check sku numbers and part numbers, as sometimes it can get confusing when a vendor repackages memory under a different number (or version...). As always, check the reviews as much as possible to see what other people have experienced.

These dimms were listed on the compatibility list for the Z97-Pro, and were one of the highest speed chips I could get that still ran at 1.5v (important to me - I didn't want 1.65v dimms)

When it came down to it, I had a couple brands to choose from, but I choose Corsair because of the high quality and reliability I have experienced from them in the past. This instance was no different - not a single problem with installation, setup, or stability. Again, I highly recommend these for supported motherboards.

Cons: Happy to be able to report I don't have any cons at all. I plan on purchasing another 16gb kit soon.

5 out of 5 eggsNote for all

This review is from: CORSAIR Vengeance 16GB (2 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1866 (PC3 15000) Desktop Memory Model CMZ16GX3M2A1866C10

Pros: I would have to say that all of the ones that the memory is reading at 1333, you have to make changes in the bios off of the automatic setting as it is the Default speed for that board, which most are, at that speed. I have an AMD CPU and I have the MSI 990 FX MOBO and I have no issues. I have the ability to overclock at the motherboard and I have turned off or changed the default setting to read what the memory is actually capable of. It all boils down to 1 thing. Do your homework before you buy a mobo as I did, and that is why I have a great PC that is fast and have no issues. remember that if you like to game alot you might want to have an extra fan to blow on them as heat is a PC's worst enemy.

Cons: None that I see, just remember to do your homework and find the right board for the right purpose.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat RAM

This review is from: CORSAIR Vengeance 16GB (2 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1866 (PC3 15000) Desktop Memory Model CMZ16GX3M2A1866C10

Pros: Overall, from install to now I have had no issues with this RAM. It sits perfectly in my Mini-ITX build and keeps things smooth while working or gaming. My motherboard had no issues picking these up from boot.

Cons: I have no cons about these.

Other Thoughts: I would recommend to anyone needing 8 to 16 to more GB of RAM in their computer.

3 out of 5 eggsBurned after 6 months at factory speeds

This review is from: CORSAIR Vengeance 16GB (2 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1866 (PC3 15000) Desktop Memory Model CMZ16GX3M2A1866C10

Pros: Fast, Looks, American, Corsair, Fast, Fast, did I mention fast? Great customer service too!

Cons: Burned after 6 months with BIOS set to stock timings and frequency.

Other Thoughts: This is a follow up to my review of the same name posted on 10/6/2013.

I managed to burn out these sticks of ram under some heavy use. Mostly gaming and solidworks/CAD applications. I think they got too hot and the IC's just melted. Luckily, this issue got me to realize the WiFi driver and PCI card I had weren't compatible along with the Blu-Ray drive I had installed but after that, I finally pulled well over 700,000 errors on these sticks with memtest86 v5.0 and got them RMA'd through Corsair. Quick and painless except for the downtime of my system. Props to Corsair on their wonderfully simple and fast RMA process!

I clocked them in my BIOS to factory timings and frequency. I guess 6 months of good use at factory settings was too much.

Otherwise good stuff, real quick, I like. Is nice.

I might go for some Dominator Platinum gaming grade stuff that comes with the little fan circulator attachment if I burn out my replacement sticks in about 6 months again.
