3 out of 5 eggsBuyer Beware

This review is from: CORSAIR Dominator Platinum 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1866 (PC3 14900) Desktop Memory Model CMD8GX3M2A1866C9

Pros: Haven't died yet in comparison to the other parts I purchased from Corsair.

Cons: Up till now I have been a hard core Corsair supporter until my last purchase. I built a new machine from ground up. And all but 1 of my Corsair branded items were defective in one way or another. I ended up shipping most of it back and getting different branded items. I will List below what I purchased from Corsair and what I ended up replacing it with. In summary Corsiar has lost a customer. I will no longer hold Corsair in high esteem. They must have changed the manufacturing or moved it to a different country or facility but I've lost faith in them and will no longer purchase Corsair products.

1.) Corsair AXI series AX860I Power supply
Issue: The 24pin mother board cable would not stay plugged in and would creep out of the power supply itself. Basically the plug itself was poorly manufacturerd. Where the clip clips onto the power supply was straight and not angled so that it could latch on.
Replaced with: EVGA SuperNOVA 1000 p3 80 plus Platinum 1000w PSU
LOVE IT!!!... KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK EVGA!!!...

2.) Corsair Carbide Series Air 540:
Video card would not bolt down without pulling the video card out of the slot. Basically the case is built so cheaply that if you looked at the back it bowed outward from the case enough that the components would not bolt in. The case would rock when sitting on a flat surface due to the cheap nature of this case. Additionally the case side panel would not shut flush when reassembled.
Replaced with: Cooler Master Cosmos II... LOVE IT!!!... but one major MAJOR complaint on the Cosmos II... THE MOTHER BOARD SCREWS ARE HORRIBLE!!!...

3.) Corsair HYDRO H110 Extreme performance water/liquid CPU cooler.
Fans are absolute Junk... This thing does not cool better than my old Corsair hydro 80. The fans make horrible grinding noises which will need to be replaced. I will not PURCHASE fans to fix this problem I WILL EXPECT corsair to send me new fans. I did not replace this item, but I can tell you the quality does not impress me on this either. The heatsink portion of this cooler is not flush flat, it actually has a concave bow to it. Very disappointing. I will most likely continue to keep an eye on my temp's until I can afford to replace it with another brand.

4.) Corsiar Dominator Platinum 8GB (2x4GB) x 2. So far so good... I will not hold my breathe at this point. If they go bad I will make sure that Corsair at least lives up to their warranty and get them replaced if I have any issues.

Other Thoughts: This has been a fair unbiased review. I have been an A+ certified technician since 2000. I have been building gaming systems for years. Never have I ever had an issue like this where I have had so many bad parts from one vendor in my history of building computers. The MASSIVE inconvenience cost me more money than I wanted to spend because all of these parts have a limited return policy. So I had to out of pocket a lot of money to get this system up and running to make sure all my components were good to stay within my return policy so that if any other parts were bad i could exchange them.

Corsair... get your act together. DO NOT be like all these companies who build a name and them try and go cheap based on GREED... we the customers will NOT tolerate this. I will NOT purchase anymore Corsair branded products for years to come. When you failed other brands saved the Day Such as EVGA & Cooler Master. This has been one of the worst building experiences I've yet had.
POTENTIAL CUSTOMERS...
My view of Corsair as of now is BUYER BEWARE... If any of you have also had the same issues please post them to help other customers avoid the nightmare I went through and tell Corsair we will NOT tolerate poor quailty!!!...

This review is from: CORSAIR Dominator Platinum 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1866 (PC3 14900) Desktop Memory Model CMD8GX3M2A1866C9

Pros: -Sooooo Beautifooo-
-Looks killler-
-Im pretty dumb and was able to get 2400MHz Stable-

Cons: Temp's don't matter much but if you want to use these with Corsair link, you need other useless junk to make it happen, do some research

Other Thoughts: I am hungry

5 out of 5 eggsAmazingly stable when overclocking

This review is from: CORSAIR Dominator Platinum 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1866 (PC3 14900) Desktop Memory Model CMD8GX3M2A1866C9

Pros: Beautifully simple design with lights that aren't overly bright. Top part of heatsink can be removed to fit under large CPU coolers. Overclocks extremely well...almost too well. (See other thoughts)

Cons: Very unstable at stock speed. My PC freezes every time I run a stress test.

Other Thoughts: I have never had a problem with Corsair memory and as such is the reason I chose this. I am kind of disappointed that it's unstable at stock speed, although I planned on overclocking this memory anyway. If you want to overclock the heck out of memory then this is for you, but if you don't then stay away.

5 out of 5 eggsBuying More!

This review is from: CORSAIR Dominator Platinum 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1866 (PC3 14900) Desktop Memory Model CMD8GX3M2A1866C9

Pros: WEI is 7.8
This is the most aggressive looking RAM I've ever seen. Seriously, I think my other components are scared...
Light is very minimal, I wasn't looking for bright RAM lighting

Cons: Should have bought two sets the first time.
Had to enable DOCP settings in motherboard to recognize 1866Mhz, Sabertooth board default was 1600Mhz

4 out of 5 eggs

This review is from: CORSAIR Dominator Platinum 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1866 (PC3 14900) Desktop Memory Model CMD8GX3M2A1866C9

Pros: Great ram that are blazing fast. I use them on a z77 board with and intel 3570k. The combo is unreal. The z77 chipset can handle faster ram but at the moment I don't see the point. This work wonderfully.

Cons: Little pricey but you get what you pay for.

Other Thoughts: All they people complaining about them not working on there 990fx boards should stop. That chipset was meant to only work with ram speeds up to 1600mhz. So instead of wasting your money you should do your homework first.

5 out of 5 eggsOh yeah.

This review is from: CORSAIR Dominator Platinum 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1866 (PC3 14900) Desktop Memory Model CMD8GX3M2A1866C9

Pros: Nice lights, even though they're white, not blue, they still work fine. Fast decently priced ram.

Cons: When are the light bars going to come out? I can't find them anywhere, unless I'm just blind. Also windows 8 rates this at 7.9. I thought it would be higher, as it goes up to 9.9.

Other Thoughts: Even though the windows score is essentially a "C" these things are amazing. And I'm happy with them, so doesn't that matter? But seriously Corsair, when or where can I get those light strips?

5 out of 5 eggsGreat RAM

This review is from: CORSAIR Dominator Platinum 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1866 (PC3 14900) Desktop Memory Model CMD8GX3M2A1866C9

Pros: Top quality, and you can tell before you even take it out of the package. The heatsinks are heavy because they're made of good materials. The clocks easily set, will run at 1T command rate no problem, and they overclock very well.

Cons: They can be a bit temperamental on 990FX boards. Not a huge deal, not hard to get past, but yeah they can act strange at first.

Other Thoughts: For those of you complaining that the RAM won't run at 1866 -- For AMD systems, outside of their FX series, most AMD chips will only run RAM at 1600, not 1866. I've got a 1090T and without overclocking the FSB, I can only do 1600 on my Sabertooth 990FX. I knew this going in, I bought these for a future upgrade to a Vischera, which will let the RAM run at 1866. Always check to see if your CPU AND motherboard can run 1866 RAM if you want it to run at 1866 not 1600!
