5 out of 5 eggsLook nice and work well

Pros: Loaded onto an ASUS RAMPAGE IV Black Edition. Used the XMP profile from the BIOS.

Everything worked perfectly! RAM is fast and responsive.

It also looks pretty nice.

Cons: None so far!

Other Thoughts: If your case has a bunch of lights already, you may not notice the white light bars on the ram.

2 out of 5 eggsCareful on x79 Platforms

Pros: Looks great with light bar upgrade installed.
Runs fast and cool if the XMP profile will allow you to boot.

Cons: This RAM was placed on the ASUS QVL list for the Rampage IV Black Edition x79 Motherboard. I have a 4930k installed, and I went to the lengths of actually calling Corsair (they didn't answer or call back), and then emailed to ensure that this RAM would be compatible with my system. Not only will the XMP profile not allow the system to boot without a BSOD, the kit will not even run at 1600Mhz on the board. IAfter weeks of troubleshooting with ROG Techs, we (ROG, Corsair and myself) concluded that one or more DIMMS was faulty and incapable of running at higher than 1333Mhz. I RMA'd the kit, but when my replacement was installed I got the same BSOD's.

Now, I know that users will read this and say 'maybe you just have a poor CPU IMC, or that my motherboard must be faulty; however, I am able to get a G-Skill 32GB 2400Mhz Ripjaws Z kit to run XMP profile with no voltage changes... I can even reduce the latency and it runs stable.

So, it seems clear to me that Corsair did not test this kit's compatibility on x79 platforms (at least not the aforementioned MB) well enough, as the ROG forum is littered with individuals who have issues with Dom Plat Kits on Rampage x79 boards.

The bottom line is that the kit is slower than others of the same tier, more expensive, and problematic on x79 boards left and right. Given the price of this kit, the frequency of incompatibility with x79 boards is unacceptable, particularly when it is guaranteed compatible with said chipset. Corsair should be ashamed that they do not offer to refund or at least offer a replacement kit that IS compatible with the board architecture they assure it will be.

Unless you MUST have the aesthetics of this RAM kit, do yourself a favor and buy from G-Skill... otherwise you may end up getting bilked out of 500$

Oh, and forget about Corsair Link compatibility blah blah... Not only is Corsair Link software buggy and a worthless gimmick, Corsair doesn't provide the adequate cords to connect them to the Corsair commander. They actually make you buy them for more money!!! Remember that this is in addition to the requirement to purchase the Commander Node, the useless RAM fans, and the Airflow LED component. To top it all off, the cords that come with it are too short if your DIMM slots are placed on either side of the CPU (ie 4 on one and 4 on the other).

I'm getting more and more frustrated by the moneymaking scheme Corsair has going as I am writing this, so I'll just advise against getting this kit.

Other Thoughts: Corsair does some things really well. They build great cases and fans, and their closed loop coolers are decent (as closed loop block kits go). They claim to be a RAM manufacturer first and foremost, though. That is not the case. They make overpriced DIMMS that run slower and are consistently incompatible or faulty. I advise against Corsair brand memory kits.

5 out of 5 eggsRemember!

Pros: Looks, possible speed

Cons: None (Refer to notes)

Other Thoughts: Don't be fooled by the speed of any ram, if your processor maxes out at 1600MHz then you will not be able to go much more than 1700MHz (depending on your board). This is noones fault other than the buyer, The product is labeled correctly and I had purchased these just to test that theory lol. I've always loved the metallic silver and the built in LED's

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: I haven't started overclocking yet, but honestly I don't even think it's necessary; never reached >50% during gaming. I will be using this build for AutoCAD and other rendering programs soon, maybe that will change this, but then I'll just clock them a bit or get another set. Very happy with my buy.

Cons: none yet

5 out of 5 eggsPerfect Performance & Beauty!

Pros: With a few simple changes in the UEFI/BIOS, these sticks were running at rated speed & timings flawlessly! Like all of the Platinum series, they look as good as they perform!

Cons: The information timing & voltage label on the side of the heatspreader shows the DRAM V. to be 1.65v's instead of the advertised 1.50v's. Not a deal breaker, but was somewhat disappointed about that. Almost deducted an egg.

Other Thoughts: In all fairness to the quality of these modules, even though they say 1.65v's on them, I was able to get them stable on 1.568v's! Technically, that is within + or - 0.075v's for DDR3's 1.50v standard. Mainboard used is an MSI Z68A-GD80(G3) & 2700k. 32GB's RAM running at 2133 on a 4 DIMM slot Dual Channel mainboard? Wow!
