5 out of 5 eggsMy First SSD

Pros: The boot times, the speed. The load times.... suchand upgrade from a rotary hard disk drive (can i call HDD an RDD now; 'rotary disk drive'?). It's so quiet... Only my 1.5TB storage RDD makes any noise!

the speed, ERMAHGERD, THE SPEED *creams pants from RDD upgrade* IT WONT STOP, THE SPEED!!!! *same with creaming pants from 'THE SPEED')

You can always read from the drive, even if it dies? Or so I'm told.... maybe this belong in other thoughts....

Cons: This is my main drive, loading the OS from it. The only bottleneck I have is the CPU (which isn't too much of a factor right now, that can be addressed later) and my RDD (new term for 'HDD', if I can coin a phrase) is what really slows down my system.

Imagine this scenario: You have this AWESOME SSD in your rig, and all your shia-tzu is stored on a rotary HDD. You set your windows setting to power off your storage drive after, about 15 mins. You plays games, read data off your SSD, reveling in the speeds of the read/write. Then for some (who knows why, maybe a new windows update or something) reason, you gotta reboot or shut down. Then you wait for your RDD to spin up... it takes a min and you hear it spin up, "ERMAHGERDH, so dang loud," you think to yourself. "why can't it be awesome like the SSD..and "Damnitt, i gotta wait for my RDD to spin up just to shut down my rig? That is phuct up shitballz there"."

Then you want to buy another one... but at the price-per-gig, it makes sense to ONLY use them for a main drive ATM. Not good for storage.

TL;DR
Great for a main OS drive, but don't use for storage. At least, not this bi-tch. - Makes your hard disk drive (HDD) look old and obsolete. you compare your Rotardy disk drive (RDD, yea, i said RoTARDy Disk DRIVE, the SSD is THAT awesome))

Other Thoughts: I've read and heard that becasue of the technology of Solid State drive, that if your drive 'dies' (runs out of write to the drive) you can still 'read' the data (load your games etc, but can't apply updates).

This means you can't 'synch' you data to cloud servers, since you can't save(write) the data to your drive. This means you CAN rollback to your last saved state, since you have INFINITE 'reads'/access to your drive.

This makes SSD a GREAT choice for storage backup, but the only downside is the current 'price-per-GB' being pretty high to afford a 1.5TB SSD for storage purposes.

5 out of 5 eggsImpressive

Pros: Fast, Great Boot up times, Fast, Great Read/Write speeds. Did I Mention Fast?

Cons: None so far.

Other Thoughts: This is my first ssd and I am very impressed with it. I know I haven't had it for very long, but I have built many many computers and this is the first one that actually made me grin while booting up and shutting down. I am running Windows 8 and it boots up within seconds and shuts down almost instantly. I originally was going to buy the Samsung 840 pro ssd, but it was out of stock when I went to purchase it so I found the Corsair to have similar specs. I assure you as long as this drive lasts a while you will be very impressed with its performance.

5 out of 5 eggsIncresed speed using SSD

Pros: Runs Fast.
Installed Fast.
Partitions and Formats Fast.
Win7 boots and runs real fast.
Corsair has great Tech Support, so I bought another one.

Cons: Got to pay up for speed.
According to Corsair Support, a SSD drive dies if any one NAND fails. So use your old drive as a backup drive. OR you can add another new 3 TB drive like I did. This gives me plenty of room for large data and backup.

Other Thoughts: Best way to speed up an old system.
My first Corsair SSD has run fast for a year without error.=)
The win7 install on the SSD used about 30 GB.
Win Experience drive Score went from 5.9 to 7.0 on SATA II 3 year old AMD MB.
In my other new SATA 3 Intel system, Corsair CSSD-F240GBGT-BK Scored 7.6 =) Since both SSD's are fast, its the new SATA III bus MB that makes the difference.
Next, I want to upgrade SATAII with a SATA III card for more speed. If this was helpful, let me know.

5 out of 5 eggsA decent SSD for the money

Pros: It is my first SSD and it does feel much much faster then an old school HDD's. I have P9x79 Pro Mother Board with i7-3930K Processor. System boots up in about 6-9 seconds. Full restart in about 10-12 seconds.

Cons: None

5 out of 5 eggsFast @ 71.8 cents/formatted gig

Pros: This was an easy install with the included adapter plate. Access and read speed are as advertised and the formatted size is an expected 238GB.

Cons: SSD usage is addictive. Failures are not subtle.

Other Thoughts: I purchased this to replace a one year old Corsair Force 90GB SSD Win7 boot drive that at one point had less than 300mb free. It never lost speed and never gave any problems. Although, at that point MS Office had a fit. I hope that this Neutron series is as reliable for me as the Force series was. I've been using SSD drives for the last 4 years. I started with a couply of 60GB OCZs, Got the 90GB Cosair, then a couple of AData 120GBs and now this 256GB Neutron. Out of the 5 drives I've only had an OCZ Series 1 fail and that was just past the 2 year mark, but otherwise they have all been fast and reliable (and are still in daily use). Hopefully this drive will outlive it's warranty period.

3 out of 5 eggsNice Drive

Pros: Noticeably faster than my older Intel X-25V. However, I am getting about half the rated (read/write) speed in benchmarks. I contacted Corsair Customer service, opened a ticket but they never got back to me. So not really happy with Corsair.

Cons: Poor customer service. Only getting half the rated read/write speeds. This could be dute to the motherboard or something else, it's not necessarily the drive itself, however Corsair is not showing me any customer service yet.

Other Thoughts: Other than the speed issue, it's a very nice drive

4 out of 5 eggsNeuron Revisited!

Pros: NewEgg just can't be beaten when it comes to timeliness and getting business taken care of! (Infant Mortality just happens!)
As for the Crucial support issue, I DO harbor negative feelings toesrds THAT company)

My 1st Nueron died a fast death (see above and my Crucial support beef), and NewEgg delivered the replacement door to door within 5 days!!! :)

I just (a few hrs ago) received my RMA 256gig Neuron this afternoon (Sat, 4th (1 week total turnaround) I will decide tonight how and where it place it to[tz

will reinstall tonight and test tomorrow! aS i SAID A FEW REVIEWS BACK, THis IS SUPPOSED TO BE A GREAT ssd FOR THE $$, and will find its new home after I get some ducks in a row!
1) To migrate my minimalistic HP Win7 64bit desktop and could replace the 1 Ter. Hitachi HD in the HP i3 machine. (Still hate pre-builts!)
2) Do a fresh Install of W7 on the New Neuron SSD (I made an HPW7 restore set AND still have s re 3)THE BEST AND MOST PAINFUL USE OF THE NEURON! I could send the Imac off to have the SSD installed within, and in place of th oem WD 7200rpm 3.5" HDx (NOTE EXPENSIVE; AND WILL VOID OUT THE TIME REMAINING ON MY APPLECARE) x
TOUGH CHOICE:

Cons: Crucial Support is the weak link!

5 out of 5 eggsUnbelievable

Pros: I purchased this drive because of the 95,000 IOPS. I use my computer 12 hours a day, 6-days a week and want the drive to last 3-5 years. However, I was pleasantly surprised to find out how fast it was. On a virgin Windows 8 installation, the boot time was 5 seconds. After I install all my apps (about 25), then it dropped to 8 seconds. And shutdown is 9 seconds. I was dealing with my Windows 7 machine that took 5 minutes to bootup. And that was after upgrading to a Western Digital Black Drive. Wow! Thank you, Corsair Neutron.

Cons: None

2 out of 5 eggsWish it worked out better!

Pros: I purchased this Neuron N256GBK from NewEgg at the end of March 2013 (Got a great sale from the "Egg"). I have been a Newegg customer for over 10 yrs and do NOT blame this on them!

I did a PROPER migration Lots of GOOD free software around to do this now ) of about 50g of my Win 7 64 bit OS and accompanying Data (this is a Very slimmed down system, as I have pretty much switched to Apple Imac a few yrs ago), but ya still need Windows for certain things I do!

All was fine, the SSD was aligned correctly and Win7 (64x) assessment was run)..THEN OUT OF THE BLUE....I/O ERROR!! Bad block encountered on the Corsair! (Yes, all my drivers are up to date)

Newegg is currently replacing it per their policy!

Cons: LACK of support that is! I called them to see if I had done something or if there was new Firmware out. After 15 Minutes on hold (Not too bad these days) An agent got on and said he had NO KNOWLEDGE of that product and he would elevate it to Tech support!

Another 15 minutes on hold and the agent sheepishly got back on the line, and advised me there were only TWO tech support people on duty (Mid Afternoon EST). I politely signed off as time was not available for this type of support (or lack of)

Other Thoughts: My next product purchases will Not be from the Corsair company!
