1 out of 5 eggsNot Good, Continued

Pros: Respectable company, good product history with me.

Cons: Many, many. This drive just continues to fail. It is my fault I have not replaced it yet. It failed again. Windows functions just stop. USB stopped, access to wireless config didn't work, etc. It is like there are dropout areas or failing areas on the drive.

Other Thoughts: I have reinstalled this for the last time and am shopping for a new drive. I verified I bought this drive on Newegg in Nov of 2014 and it has been trouble since then. This time, I created an image of the SSD after the last failure and reinstall. I was tired of recovering the MS office key, installing everything, updating etc. So, this time the reinstall went faster. Diskwizard from Seagate/Maxtor works. I made sure to image the whole original (seagate) spinning drive so I had the recovery partition which made recovery easier. Again, I have 2 other working SSD in other laptops that I upgraded and work fine without issue. One of them was a refurb purchase, OCZ brand......no problems with that! I see a lot of issues in reviews here. Mine is actually a 240G model, but they discontinued that model on Newegg so my review rolled to the 120. I am using the drive now, till I can get a new SSD, new brand shipped out. Maybe this is a Lenovo compatibility thing for the seagate product, not sure. Not sure why Newegg dropped this product as it is sold elsewhere.

1 out of 5 eggsNot Good

Pros: This was cheap to buy, company has a good reputation.

Cons: The drive has failed and needed to be re-installed 3x. I have recovered it with windows recovery disks more than 6 times in addition to the re-installs. Last re-install didn't go that great and I need to get a new ssd drive for the next time this one fails. I used diskwizard. The image I made from the SSD using diskwizard didn't work from the recovery image I made with it so I had to go back and image the original harddrive directly the last two re-installs.

Other Thoughts: All these problems were on my Lenovo Ideapad u310. I have 2 other brands of SSDs in laptops at home and both work fine. The seagate 600 240 was the most expensive and the worst performer.

I am going to try another brand ssd and see how it does in this laptop.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat SSD

Pros: This drive is fast and silent. Installed and loaded OS with no problems. Drastically outperforms my 10000RPM VelociRaptor HDD configured in RAID 0.

Cons: Wish the drive was larger and priced more competitively.

1 out of 5 eggsUpdate to Previous Review

Pros: When it worked - it worked extremely well.

Cons: Purchased two (2) of these at the same time (120GB version) - very end of January. They were being operated in a RAID mirror to ensure that if a drive failed - that the other would have a copy (also doing additional backups).

Due to the nature of the failure, one of the drives has failed in such a state that it caused the other drive to (via the mirroring) to scramble the data. All data on one of the partitions was completely gone. After carefully reviewing logs working on the drives - tried to re-copy the data. Within a short period of time, the partition lost the data again. Reviewing the SMART information from the working drive:
Power Cycle Count: 9
Power on Hours: 1121 (46 Days)
Temperature: 73 degrees F
LBAs Written: 1412
LBAs Read: 12

Other Thoughts: Partitioning and configuration was 4K aligned.

Given this premature failure, I'm highly concerned as to the viability of the second drive. I have preferred only a couple brands of SSD and Seagate was one of them. I will need to re-evaluate any future purchases of this line of SSDs.

1 out of 5 eggsBRICK

Pros: Works great....for 2 weeks

Balanced weight distribution means it flies far when thrown.

Cons: Installed in Feb, bricked by March. Warranty replacement came in (took 3 weeks!)...installed warranty replacement...Bricked again. I will NOT be pursuing further replacement. Buying a Samsung SSD now...

1 out of 5 eggsUPDATE

Pros: FAST SHIPPING NEWEGG

Cons: Didnt Work

Other Thoughts: I did call Seagate and was very disappointed, I was told by a representative the the drive, while new would have to be replaced. I was then told that if I were to use the warranty I would be sent a refurbished drive not a new one excatly like that.
I informed the rep that the drive is new and no longer available on Newegg the item has sold out. He stated that he understood that but it doesnt change anything, he stated that if I want a new drive that I would have to return it to Newegg or I can get a refurbished drive, but it seems as though the fact that I paid for a new drive at a new drive price was overlooked.

Due to the fact that I didnt want to complicate getting my money back for the drive I returned it to Newegg for a full refund. How is it fair to a consumer to pay full price for a product and then be told that I would be sent a refurbished product the same day that it arrived in the mail.

Considering the situation that the drive was sold out and no ETA from Newegg on when they would be available and that the drive arrived DOA, no exception could be made poor customer service, not looking for more than what I paid for just customer service and for Seagate to stand behind the product they sell.

Not to mention that when I purchased the SSD it was on sale which was a selling point as well. This problem could have happened with any Manuf. but it was with Seagate and this is how they handled it. There was not any troubleshooting to perform Seagate, the drive was DOA period. so the automated response provided below shows that you dont take time to really look into the issue a ticket is generated and the consumer is advised to call in. Seagate there were no technical solutions to the S.M.A.R.T error other than it will be replaced with a refurbished drive, per your support team.

1 out of 5 eggs600 Series ST240 GB

Pros: None so far and this is a review of the 240 GB that does not seem to exist on newegg anymore.

Cons: BIOS recognizes it but it will not boot nor show up in Windows 8.1. I will attempt to research the issue, but I'm not happy.
