5 out of 5 eggsGreat Card

Pros: Very quick because of its low latency, random read and write ability. We wait for the next version, M7e to come out.

Cons: None for what it is.

Other Thoughts: These types of SSDs are the wave of the future, so be it.

5 out of 5 eggsPlextore M6e PCIe SSD

Pros: Fast, slim physical form factor, virtually no heat output under burn-in workloads, extremely low latency.

Cons: Not a higher capacity?

Other Thoughts: This basic PCIe SSD is a good performer for the price. I bought it for a ZFS SLOG device so I can't speak to it's experience in windows, but in linux the device showed up right away with standard ahci drivers.

Ensure that, no matter what OS you're using, you align the partition boundaries to the device sector. Your performance will suffer noticeably otherwise.

The device itself is very fast with sub-microsecond latency according to iostat. Despite the fact that the ZFS ZIL runs at a queue depth of 1, commits to this device are still lightning-quick and it's noticeably improved the performance of my virtual machines which run on the ZFS pool.

My setup is a mirrored-stripe (RAID10 equivalent) ZFS pool with ~50GB zvols presented to the virtual machines as block devices. I under-provisioned 8GB of this PCIe SSD and attached it to the virtual machine pool as a SLOG device, and performance (particularly database loads) have gone up dramatically. Be sure to enable sync=always on your zvols!

Out of curiosity, I did some traditional filesystem benchmarks on the device with a seperate 64GB partition formatted BTRFS. Uncached read and write speeds were 750MBs / 310 MBs, so fairly close to in-line with the product specifications (you can't trust their numbers though, you should always run your own benchmarks).

Happy with purchase, will probably buy a higher-end model next to see how far I can push the performance envelope.

4 out of 5 eggsbefore its time

Pros: It is a very fast ssd, and every easy to install. Also do not have to worry about cable management.

Cons: It isn't worth the money, because there are faster ssds that are sata 3.0. Also cant use hard drive light on case with this type of ssd, not that it matters. So i take away a star. In time we may need an express ssd but right now it isnt worth it.

5 out of 5 eggsPlextor m6e pcie

Pros: Easy to pop in pcie slot. Fast boot time.

Cons: Instructions are very short and generic.

Other Thoughts: Be sure to unplug ALL, and I mean ALL, usb port external devices before installing O.S.( keyboard and mouse is left plugged in)
I pulled my hair out for 12 hours with booting to O.S. because of a conflict with a usb (HP) printer.
Also, ANY internal hard drives or ssd unplug!!!
I had a ssd drive in this computer before. Not much difference in speed that's noticeable.

5 out of 5 eggsBlazing Fast

Pros: Size, easy to install, M.2!! Blazing fast!

Cons: Price

Other Thoughts: Seriously, this is one of the fastest on the market. You can use it in the PCI-e card , or if you have one of the newer z97 boards, the ssd will remove and go in the M.2 slot! Cast go wrong... wish it was a bit cheaper though... maybe if I had waited till just the M.2 was released lol

1 out of 5 eggsNo Half Height Bracket

Pros: Great half height card for full height slots!

Cons: Card dimensions show that it was clearly designed for half height machines, yet no half height/low profile bracket is included. This is an oversight of ridiculous proportions.

True, It doesn't show a LP bracket in the pictures, but half the time manufacturers don't show them in pictures even when one is included. Still my fault I guess for trusting common sense.
