Features
Fast data transfer - Up to 250 MB/s read and up to 170 MB/s write transfer rates allow your system to run faster so you can work more efficiently.

Advanced Wear-Leveling
WD's wear-leveling algorithm uses a combination of dynamic and static wear-leveling that writes data evenly over the entire drive, preventing drive wear out and lengthening drive life.

Advanced Error Correction
Enables error free data transmission by deploying advanced error correction technologies to detect and correct errors resulting from signal noise or other kinds of interference that causes data distortion.

TRIM command support (Windows 7) - Helps maintain the SSD's performance throughout its lifespan.

Native Command Queuing (NCQ)
Increases the performance of SATA drives by placing read / write commands in the optimal sequential order for the fastest execution.

Data Integrity Protection
Prevents data loss from unexpected power loss during write operations to ensure data integrity and availability.

ATA SMART Commands
Self-Monitoring Analysis and Reporting Technologies (SMART) detect and warn when an SSD needs replacement.

1 out of 5 eggsLasted about 2 years

Pros: Great speed

Cons: Died after 2 years.

Other Thoughts: Well the drive was super fast. I noticed a huge speed increase from uprading from my IDE drive. The only issue is that it lasted 24 months. I am just getting around to writing the review as it died in September/October of 2012 which is just slightly over the 2 year mark. As it is now out of warranty, I highly doubt that WD will respond.

As it stands now, i have had 2 WD drives fail within the 3 year warranty period, 1 WD external just shy outside of a 12 month warranty. On the external, I got a "you get what you pay for" speech as I did not purchase a drive with a 3 year warranty or an extended warranty.

1 out of 5 eggsNothing but slowness on this drive

Pros: It's discontinued

Cons: Slooooooooow

Other Thoughts: Man...this drive is just awful. I put this in a laptop that was a few years old and it just barely running faster than the spindle drive I replaced.

I went to copy a few GB of files from one directory on the drive to another and get a under 6 MB/s transfer speed. Seriously?

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Drive

Pros: Very Fast.

Cons: Some motherboards do not recognize it is CMOS, yet works fine a primary drive.

Be aware to watch for junk files stacking up or you run out of space quickly.

Other Thoughts: It takes longer for my computer to POST and start up the BIOS than for this drive to load Windows 7 Ultimate.

Did not see any noticeable increase in load times for game like ES4 or Battlefield BC2.

5 out of 5 eggsGood Service

Pros: I get western digital because of the warranty and RMA process. Even though the drives aren't the most reliable, I get new ones shipped to me promptly when one goes bad. I don't have to come up with "proof of purchase". Very safe with western digital. I have 4 of these drives in use currently, none have problems.

These drives are about average when it comes to speed. Nothing amazing, just good for the price.

Cons: I hope they last.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Using this only for the OS (Windows 7) and programs. I put all of my media/documents on a 1TB WD drive (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136284). Super fast, access time seems near 0.

Cons: It's probably because I'm cheap and didn't buy a larger version, but I've filled it to about 75% already with basic programs I use all of the time. Nothing wrong with the drive, though.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent for the $$$

Pros: I was looking for my first SSD to put in my new build. Nothing fancy, or super expensive. This fit the bill perfectly. I've now used it for ~7 months, and it's worked perfectly everyday. It's not large enough to put everything, but your OS and favorite game/program will probably fit on there. This drive sped up the boot time to 15 seconds (after BIOS was done), and WoW loads faster than my authenticator will give me a number.

Cons: A lot of cases still don't come with 2.5" bays, so I do wish this came with at least a cheap bay adapter. I ended up just putting 1 screw in, and it seems to hold it up just fine. But it does look a little ghetto.

Other Thoughts: System:
WD Blue SSD 64GB
2x WD Blue 640GB 7200 rpm
Antec 1200 with Antec 850W PS
Intel i7 920 @ 3.6 GHz
ASUS P6X58D Premium
Corsair Dominator (3 x 2GB) @ 1600
XFX Radeon 5850 Black Edition

1 out of 5 eggsLasted 4 months

Pros: Fast

Cons: Short lifespan, Bad customer service

Other Thoughts: First off, the drive is fast. SSD is the future and the future is bright. The downside is the drive only lasted 4 months and then failed. The bigger downside is when I called WD they said the serial number of my drive was showing 'not valid' (this was about a 25min phone call to an overseas call center with someone who had the same level of knowledge I did). They had me take a picture of the drive's top sticker with all the proper #'s and send that into their customer service department for verification. Three days later, they sent back that it was a valid drive and they'd input the serial number manually within 48 hours. This was on Dec 21. It's now Jan 4 and the SN still shows 'invalid.' WD won't service or recognize invalid drive SN's for replacement or servicing. So, so far I'm left with a HD I bought that I can't use or get replaced. Not too happy about that.

5 out of 5 eggsFaster than my last one

Pros: Transfer rates seem exactly as advertised, boots up faster than my last SSD and writes are noticeably fast.

Cons: Not really a con, but my motherboard doesn't suport ACHI.

Other Thoughts: Glad Western Digital is in the SSD game, I've always bought them in the past and I'll continue to do so.

5 out of 5 eggs"Made in USA"?

Pros: Drive offers solid performance over a traditional HDD...installed Win7 x64 in under 15 mins to it; takes about 20 seconds to boot up (not counting BIOS POST). Nice looking steel cover, runs cool, very light and small.

Cons: Small capacity, doesn't come with 2.5"-to-3.5" adapter. I managed to get one screw hole to line up, which should be fine... the entire unit weighs maybe 2-3 ounces. Definitely not the bleeding edge of performance if that's what you are in to.

Other Thoughts: I purchased this drive to cut down on noise and heat generation, with faster read/write/access speeds being a secondary concern, which it does very well. It's not even marketed to be the top-of-the-line, so any shortcomings there should be expected. I'm thinking of using a USB flash drive to store my media files since their prices have come down considerably with large capacities, sporting the same low power, low heat, and low noise attributes I'm after. Regarding the title, I was surprised to see "Made in USA" written on the drive. Makes me wonder how much of it really was.

mobo: Gigabyte GA-MA790XT-UD4P
cpu: AMD Phenom II x4 945
memory: 4gb Corsair XMS3 DDR3 1600
vga: HIS ATI Radeon 5750
