1 out of 5 eggs1 of 2 Bad

Pros: None, unless defective, non-working is a pro.

Cons: I bought 2 of these. One stopped working after about 6 months. It became completely unresponsive and was not recognized by the system. Luckily, I had the spare that had not been used yet and swapped it in using a backup acronis image without any issues. I sent the bad drive back to Super Talent for a warranty repair. 3 or 4 weeks later, I received the "repaired" drive but it did not work. Sent it back again for repair, got it back, still does not work. I give up.

My advise is to go with someone other than Super Talent. The only conclusion I can come to is that they knowingly sent out a defective drive twice.

Other Thoughts: Tested the drive in multiple computers, SATA cables etc... to rule out other defective equipment, it is the drive.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Performance and Value

Pros: If you search on the manufacturer's site, you'll find that this SSD has a 64mb cache, which eliminates the 'stutter' problem that many SSDs suffer from. I have owned this drive for about three months and I have had no issues whatsoever! I was able to install Windows 7 RC in about 12 minutes. Lightning fast!! Will buy again (if it's in stock, that is).

Cons: So popular it's out of stock!

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome Upgrade

Pros: I put this SSD in my new Asus Eee 1000HE Netbook to replace the original HDD. This things is fast!! Windows XP and MS Office boot up extremely quickly. It has also increase my battery life up to 2 hours on some occasions.

Cons: Cost per GB

Other Thoughts: Highly considering putting one or two of these in my desktop to running my OS.

5 out of 5 eggsgreat

Pros: It works better than I could have expected, I will never go back to disk drives again

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: Why is it that they are so expensive when they are cheaper to make than disk drives?

5 out of 5 eggsGreat for RAID

Pros: Price and performance is great for this drive. Running 2 in a raid 0 with windows 7 x64 Ultimate for startup drive, and it works great. No heat and very low power consumption. Benchmarks are very close if not better to manufacturers stated transfer rates.

Cons: Capacity, but if your buying SSD its not for that anyways.

Other Thoughts: Flash firmware before you install OS. They are already onboard with enabling windows 7 specific features with this drive. If storage concerns plague your decision, Vista and Windows 7 make it very easy to redirect storage directories for user files. Especially music, pictures, and video files. Buy 1 or 2 large hard disks, then redirect any infrequently used or excessively large programs.

4 out of 5 eggsFast, but small...

Pros: The drive is very fast, and barely takes up any space in my case. I've had no issues with overheating or drive errors, or anything of that sort, and my system board picked it up right away. The entire disk can be defragged in a manner of minutes after heavy fragmentation. Windows Vista boots in ten seconds.

Cons: As other people have complained about, it doesn't come with a 3.5" adapter, so I had to improvise a bit to secure it in my case (fortunately mine is a very adaptable case). If you're going to get the drive, it might be advisable to also budget for a 3.5" adapter (plenty of them here on Newegg).

Other Thoughts: Because it's more a problem with the OS than with the drive, I guess I'll stick this here. This is only a 32GB drive, and while that's a bargain for SSD technology these days, I found the space to be incredibly limited. Windows Vista (which isn't sticking around, thank goodness) takes up about 26GB and has a tendency to grow without being asked. Before I'd learned this, it had been my plan to put Ubuntu and OS-X in separate partitions to dual-boot, but after installing the OS and getting a Low Disk Space error a week later, those plans were quickly put on the back burner.

Windows 7 supposedly takes up a lot less space (only about 16GB from what I've read, which is still a lot, but not nearly as much as Vista), so my multi-booting dreams may still be attainable, but needless to say it was something of a downer.

5 out of 5 eggs175mb/s average read speed in HDTune Pro

Pros: Other than the minor hassle of buying a 2.5" to 3.5" drive adapter to fit it into my case, this drive has been great. I installed Windows7 x64 Ultimate RTM to get native support for the TRIM function as well as Windows 7's built-in SSD optimizations. Drive was recognized in BIOS and took an installation of Windows 7 with no problems whatsoever. HDTune Pro showed average read speed 175Mb/s, 0.1ms access time, 186Mb/s burst rate, and less than 1% CPU usage. These are stats I am not going to complain about, and Windows 7 boots in roughly 30 seconds from power on to desktop accessibility. I may purchase a second one of these and run in RAID 0 for increased speed and capacity. So far I am very happy with the drive, mine came with the latest 1571 firmware, so no firmware flashing was needed before I installed an OS to it. I emailed Super Talent with a question and got a prompt and helpful response which was nice.

Cons: None other than the over $100 cost.

5 out of 5 eggsCorrection from previous review

Pros: Same as before

Cons: Same as before

Other Thoughts: Sorry, I said Newegg had the 64GB for $240 two weeks later when it was for $140.
