5 out of 5 eggsExcellent!

Pros: Good price, Installed without a problem, Great performance under OS/X.

Cons: Windows XP SP3 is an absolute pig running on this. This is really more a problem with XP and not this SSD.

Other Thoughts: This SSD had the best price of all of the ones I looked at when looking to upgrade my Mini9. It installed without a problem and was immediately recognized by by the BIOS. I first installed Windows XP SP3 on it and was very disappointed with the performance. XP runs so slowly as to almost be unusable. I then tried Windows 7 on it and was pleasantly surprised to find the performance was really good. It ran almost as fast as my desktop. I then tried OS/X on it and was completely blown away. OS/X runs flawlessly on a Mini9 with 2GB memory and this SSD. I'm really thinking about buying another one so I can have one with Windows 7 and one with OS/X.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks Perfectly

Pros: Easy to install.

Cons: None I have found.

Other Thoughts: I bought this for my Dell Mini 9 and I had one H**l of a time getting the Windows XP Pro installed. With only having one slot for a disk, you need to install windows from another source and this thing didn't want to recognize my external DVD drive. Since then though it has worked superbly.

4 out of 5 eggsBest Cheaper Option

Pros: Cheaper alternative to "RC" SSD's for Dell Mini 9. It is fast in Windows 7. Quick once everything is installed. Feels faster than stock drive.

Cons: Feels slow in Windows XP. Installing software or operating system is slow, but many SSD's are slow on writing data.

Other Thoughts: Will buy a second to have dedicated OSX install.

4 out of 5 eggsWorks well on the right OS

Pros: fits with no issues. reconized by BIOS without any tweaking. Good size for price. Runs VERY well in windows 7 RC.

Cons: Similar to negative comments listed, this runs rediculously slow when using windows xp sp3. Odds are, it's an old OS, so even the tweaks microsoft made to make the ssd compatable, didn't help with performance. It also is not supported in dell mini 9 to put a password on HD.

Other Thoughts: Great HD if you have windows 7 running. install, read/write times double or even triple speeds than xp. Unfortunately, supertalent doesn't have any updates to correct the xp problem. I docked this device one egg in rating because of my experience with supertalent's phone support. When I called, no one answered their phone(s) and I left a message with no call back. If I had not installed win 7, i might have been an upset customer, but it all worked out in the end.

3 out of 5 eggsSecond try and it's up and running...

Pros: Cheaper than the competitors

Cons: Not as fast as the competitors.

Other Thoughts: My first drive failed. The drive would not partition no matter what I tried. After hours of testing and trying I decided to RMA. On the upside, the RMA process was fast and efficient. Newegg rocks and the new drive works great. I'm running OSX on a Dell Mini 9 with no issues.

1 out of 5 eggsNot usable in my Dell Mini9

Pros: Well, it is 32GB. Fits in my Mini 9 just fine. Had no XP installation issues.

Cons: Waaaaaay too slow to be usable in my Mini 9. I couldn't have anything other than Google Chrome open, or my laptop would freeze for 30 seconds. And I mean ONLY google chrome, try to open a PDF or a document, forget about it!
I am extremely dissappointed. I am stuck with a worthless hard drive.

Other Thoughts: The reviews at the time I bought this showed no real problems. Of course after I got XP installed, the "slow ssd" reviews showed up. =( Not their fault, my timing was just bad. I wish I had seen them earlier.

3 out of 5 eggsDOES NOT WORK WITH ASUS EEE PC 1000

Pros: if you have a dell it should work. :)

Cons: bought this for for an asus EEE PC 1000 to replace the internal 8GB card and it killed the motherboard. as stated in another review. this card uses a proprietary dell interface that just looks like a PCI-E interface.

Other Thoughts: read the reviews before you buy. dont make the same mistake i did.

1 out of 5 eggsoops - this is not a PCIe device!

Pros: for me, none

Cons: This is not a PCIe device. It is a "custom" PCIe device.

After an intense cycle of email communication with SuperTalent support and marketing, they indicated that it is a "proprietary" IDE device using the physical hardware of a PCIe interface, but none of the functionality of PCIe.

Hence, "custom" PCIe - looks like a duck, but does not quack or walk like one.

Other Thoughts: I am glad Newegg has such great return policies. SuperTalent has changed their marketing information on their website to indicate that this is NOT a PCIe device...

1 out of 5 eggs

Pros: none.

Cons: The Read/Write speeds are so slow as to make this product unusable on my Dell Mini 9. I would not suggest purchasing this product.

Other Thoughts: Both RunCore and STEC have much faster SSD's.

2 out of 5 eggsHorrif Access Times...

Pros: Wasn't DOA, stuttering wasn't as bad as I expected it to be... read/writes were on par with the stated specs...

Cons: .8ms Access times!!

Super Talent should be barred from selling a drive that is a solid state with these sort of access times.

The 16GB STEC SSD that came with the mini had a .4ms access time, which is on the high side.

But this SuperTalent SSD has the access times of almost a standard hard drive. Regardless if it is a MLC drive, .8ms for a access time is unacceptable, IMHO.

Other Thoughts: *Windows XP x32 SP3
*Partitioned Aligned w/ 128, 64 & 32 offset (made no difference)
*Optimized for 4k writes

If you're patient, try and get a Run Core SSD for your Dell Mini instead, when you can find them in stock.
