Question 1

Is there a typo in the spec for the light output?  500 Lumens is not very bright.  Should it be 5000?

Hey Carl,

I'm having a fantastic morning so sorry if this seems a bit long.
It actually is not a typo, BUT...

Acer has this projector rated at 500 ANSI lumens which mean it was citified by the American National Standards Institute, and it is definitely a true 500 lumen projector.

I say that because a lot of companies over exaggerate, by a lot. Unless you see ANSI don't trust it.

To the same effect this is a business projector, and 300 lumens is the stander for small size business projectors (This one is smaller than my hand), 500 is quite high and is recommended for large rooms. It is definitely not as bright as a 10,000 or even 100,000 lumen home theater projector, but it more than does the job.

I own one myself and we have it in our living room at max distance with max screen size (120 inches I think) and with the lights off the whites are more than bright. It does quite well when there is even a light on or two.

The difference comes in here where in a fully lit room a home theater projector would still have a fairly vivid picture because the total difference between the two light sources is very dramatic. A room with three 200 lumen bulbs in it would still be a 600:100,000 light to dark contrast ratio. Unlike our little champ over here 600:500 would seem a bit washed out.

Lastly remember that this is an LED projector, and even though they aren't nearly as bright as other types they last over 6 times longer. 4000 hour bulb life to 30,000 hours with this LED.

It's all about the pro's and con's. What you need and what matters to you. I Love watching movies in a dark room with a big vivid (LED is very accurate and rich in color) screen, and I didn't want to spend an arm and a leg for it. SO for me this was the perfect projector, and I wouldn't have chosen any other. That's just me.

how do you connect the projector to a laptop?

Via hdmi or separately purchased acer video adapter that plugs in the back of this thing,  (proprietary cable)  personally my experience with these micro projectors is that optoma and LG make the best Portabe led projectors, optoma ml500 (discontinued)  was the one I had and it had all kinds of i/o ports on the back,  and the LG equivalent has an optional battery attachment for true portability.

does this a connection other than HDMI for input.

Read review stating that this was the only input no VGA port?

not unless you buy the   separate ...propritary... I/O  adapter from Acer, go with the optoma led projector in this same class, I've owned both and the optoma not only looks better, it has the Ports your looking for. i had the optoma ml500 which i believe is discontinued now but they have similar  models out now.

Analog RGB, Digital compatibility listed but no other info on how to connect input to RGB?

the only input is HDMI in the USB even though there is a port for connector from what I've read and discovered is that the port is not active in this model.  I use an HDMI converter

Not sure what you're asking, if you're asking about the dimensions that the device actually is, or the size of the picture ... The projector itself is pretty compact and could be very portable. I estimate it to be about 5 1/2 " x 4 1/2". Roughly about the size and carrying weight of classic field   binoculars.

Hi is it battery powered???, is the only input HDMI??

Not battery powered, not 3d ready like it says, ( that was confirmed after an hour on the phone with Acer, only does 3d  through a pc  and at vga resolution) only hdmi unless you buy the proprietary acer plug  in interface that connects on the back.  The optima  ml500 its a  better buy in my opinion, I've owned both.  If you want battery powered lg makes a good one. If you haven't noticed, all the projectors in this range are 1280 x 800  with all the same TI DLP chip, only thing  different would be the  light source ranging from 300 to 700 lumens. Real cookie cutter project.  I was trying to make a little led projector like this work as a home theater  projector, but was underwhelmed so i ended up buying a nice  traditional  halogen light 1080p 3d ready  epson.

I bought this projector (LOVE IT) but was wondering about replacement bulbs?  I don't see anything listed here on how much they are or how I would order one.

I have a question. Have you tried to connect speakers to the projector? I cant seem to locate the ports to connect speakers. I keep getting call ACER, but when I did they had no answers.

No, it uses HDMI. And the optional audio connectors actually do not exist and are not supported even though the user manual claims this.
