4 out of 5 eggsimage persistence

Pros: Affordable. Great picture

Cons: Lack of an RG6 Coaxial input. Only 1 HDMI, so prepare to buy a box. (I got 4 input rosewill). Switching through video sources. poor remote support. sub par speakers

After hooking this up for use with my PC, image persistence has been becoming a larger problem with each day. The more I use it, the quicker the persistence sets in.

Other Thoughts: great if your looking for something affordable, however there are better options out there now.

I was gonna give it a 3 out of 5, because of the annoyances. But the picture is what counts most as the other negatives are easily fixable with things such as hdmi boxes, home audio systems, digital cable boxes, etc.

5 out of 5 eggsNot bad!!

Pros: Great display
No ghosting
No dead pixels
Easy controls

Cons: No Digital Audio support

Other Thoughts: This is my first HD TV, so i don't have much to compare it with. But this is a great deal for a beginner level home theater system!!

5 out of 5 eggsA-Frackin-Mazing

Pros: Ok I'd like to premise this review by saying that this is, by far, the greatest HD TV I've ever purchased.

1.) The picture clarity is fantastic. XBOX360 via HDMI is so crisp and I see none of the ghosting that you sometimes get with fast action sequences. The response time is great.
2.) I have my spare desktop hooked up through the VGA and I actually had to turn down the resolution from 1920x1080 to 1024 so that I could read the text. The 1080p vga is so good but makes everything so tiny!
3.) I have my HD-DVR hooked up through component and no problems there at all. Fantastic picture quality.
4.) Has one of every kind of input you could imagine, and then a couple outputs too.
5.) The screen is very bright. It's actually almost too bright but you can adjust the lamp to darken it a bit.

Cons: 1.) Switching between sources is a pain. You have to constantly press the source button over and over.
2.) Only one HDMI and only one Component. You'll really need a switcher device or high quality amplifier or something to manage more inputs.
3.) The speakers (yeah they suck. we all know) don't screw in that well to the sides even if you did want to use them. They're kind of floppy on the sides and feel like they could just snap off.

Other Thoughts: The TV has just an amazing picture and that's what you really want out of a 1080p TV anyway. It's not light, but it is relatively thin compared to other LCD's. I would highly recommend this TV, even if it were ~$200 more than it costs right now. It's more than worth the money and you won't be disappointed.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Excellent picture. Mounted speakers away from set which gave me better sound.
Set fits well in the enclosure with some room to spare.

Cons: The instruction manual, at best, is barely understandable. Some points I am still not clear on.
Have to scroll through the aspect selections each time the set has been off for a while to get rid of the green bar to left of screen.
No codes available for DIRECTV!

Other Thoughts: the UPS drop, throw, and kick test that tore up the delivery carton was an unwelcome site when I came home and found the box leaned against the garage. Maybe the above tests caused the 6 day delivery time. Photos available of damage..
I was quite surprised that the set worked at all when I unpacked it.

2 out of 5 eggsReview Update: Buy the warranty

Pros: Price is pretty decent and pic quality is good.

Cons: Poor quality, power board burns out. Remote is very limited. Not as many HD inputs as other brands. Sound from stock speakers is "meh."

Other Thoughts: Ok, so i bought this tv back in Dec 2005. I was happy with it and excited as it was my first HD tv. Jump now to Oct 2008 and the tv is junk!!! Google "Sceptre Power Board" and you will see that this brand has problems. Mine burned out earlier this year and the part was back ordered because they don't have enough. When it finally came it was installed and 5 weeks later it went out again. Mind you I have the tv on a back-up power supply in case of brownouts and such. DEFINITELY get the extended warranty if you still want to buy this junk, glad I did. Next time I'll go with a better known quality brand. BUYER BEWARE!

2 out of 5 eggsWas nice while it worked

Pros: Great picture and resolution. Works well with PC and HD devices. Looks great on the wall.

Cons: Power supply failure made it a paperweight. Speakers are not great, but not as bad as others are saying. Had difficulty getting PIP to work with TV alone (could play a video game while watching a show, but no Two-Games-At-Once-Deal).

Other Thoughts: I bought this in January 2006 and enjoyed two Super Bowls on it, but I also had it on a lot which is probably why the power supply blew. I think Sceptre knows about the problem as they gave me an email response with that information. I went online and found it's a common problem with this model, but there seems to be no easy fix. I'm putting my money for repairs towards a new set with a warranty of more than a year.

1 out of 5 eggsPiece of Junk

Pros: Cheap

Cons: Has quite a few problems. First, the speakers and remote did not come in the box. Sceptre customer service (newegg refused to help) said the only remote they had left was something from their junk drawer. Second, there was blue sparkly static while watching HD content. Found a way to get this corrected by tweaking something in a hidden menu. Third, running audio through the tv results in static at any medium to high volume. Finally, and the most annoying, just after the warranty expired it's starting to develop a thick black line on the left side, about 6 inches from the side.

Other Thoughts: If it wouldn't have cost me quite a bit of money to ship this back I would have, not that newegg would take it back anyway. Long story short: pick something else, buy from a local store if possible. At least you can drive it back instead of paying ups 200 bux to ship it.

5 out of 5 eggsAwsome

Pros: Bright (I live in a well lit apartment, and I have to have the lamp turned all the way down)
Great for Gaming (I have my xbox plugged into it, and games look great)
Great for TV (I do all my media through the xbox too, i watch dvd's through it, and use the media center to watch tv, and both look great, however regular tv looks really grainy on it because of the resolution difference and size of the TV :p)
Great as a computer monitor ( I do my homework on the thing in the living room on my couch, and surf the web)
Not one dead pixel
The remote works great from many angles

Cons: The menu does look a little cheap, but it is functional
The stand leans forward a bit
Haven't used the speakers, didn't like the way they looked on the TV
The Screen is a little off when using the VGA input from a computer for some reason, not too bad though, maybe shifted 10 pixels to the left
Basically only one type of TV input for all the HD types, component, vga, and hdmi, kindof a bummer

Other Thoughts: I'm using component cables from my Xbox 360 and feeding the TV full HD 1080p, it looks great.
All in all this tv is a great deal, it's big, bright, fast, and full HD, and future proofed with every type of HD input (although only one of each), and also past proof too. Perfect tv for 700 dollars, worth more than the price, in my opinion.
