5 out of 5 eggsIncredible monitor

Pros: Like the previous reviewer, I'm going on seven years with this monitor—pretty sure I purchased it in 2006. It's solid as hell. In that time, I've only encountered a single dead pixel and it only appeared a few months ago. The color is great, the bezel is nice. I have it on an Ergotron arm that I purchased around the same time.

The 1680x1050 resolution has held me over well into the 1080p revolution. And I love the matte screen, something that seems to be rarer and rarer. (Although the color is nice on glossy screens, I hate the reflective properties.)

Cons: However, I am sad to say that I fear it's on it's way out. A few months ago the on-screen menu annoyingly appeared and wouldn't go away. I had no idea what to do. I ended up dismantling it and just giving it a bit of a cleaning and reseating... and it worked. Now, several months later, it's mysteriously not always turning on. Without changing anything, it seems to make its own decisions about when it wants to work. It's unfortunate, but man, after seven years of awesomeness, I actually don't know what to do next! Do I purchase a similar model for a lower price ($150 as opposed to the $330 this cost) and hope they're as well-built? Do I go for something in the $300 range in the hopes it will last as long or longer than this one? Do I "retire" this one to another location so it gets less use but continues to (hopefully) work? Questions, questions!

5 out of 5 eggsGreat monitor

Pros: DVI

Crisp
No ghosting what so ever,
Loved this monitor

350 when bought an well worth every penny.

Cons: Burnt out about 4 years after I bought it. It was good though because this go around I wanted something with HDMI went with a 24" Viewsonic 1080P with HDMI and not so happy, there is a lot of ghosting but you live and learn. Bought the new one to 150 less thinking I was getting a deal, I just got burnt. OH well

5 out of 5 eggsAbsolutly Gorgeous

Pros: DVI input was my big seller. I've had this monitor for almost a year now I think. It's a gorgeous monitor. The picture is spectacular, crisp and clear with video's and games. WoW, Rise of Legends, GRAW.

Cons: Why do they bother with the speakers? I don't have 2 (yet).

Other Thoughts: Received in handy reusable packaging. No dead pixels. Perfect picture. Takes a tad bit of time to get used to widescreen if coming from normal screens.

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing Monitor

Pros: No dead pixels, very crisp image, excellent for gaming (I play CS:S, Oblivion, and BF2) with no ghosting whatsoever, clean cable management in the back, great viewing angles for large groups to watch movies together, and it's a View Sonic!

Cons: When you have a black screen, or a dark movie, you can tell if you look very closely that there's some light bleeding in the corners, but every LCD has a little bit of this. I was expecting a View Sonic to correct this issue, but they didn't. This isn't necessarily a bad thing because this monitor has the least amount of bleeding in any wide screen monitor out there, even the Dells/Macs! There is no height adjustable stand...

Other Thoughts: You won't be disappointed with this monitor, it's perfect for games, movies, etc. Think about how much time you spend looking at your monitor, so why not invest in this amazing monitor?!

5 out of 5 eggsIncredible performance at this price

Pros: Not a single dead pixel. Very minor x pattern backlight bleed through. Was worried about this as my Apple Studio 17" had zero bleed, and the D**l monitors at work ALL display horrendous bleed at top and bottom of screen. No DVI issues here on my Powermac G5 with Radeon 9600XT.

I wanted a Sa****g 204BW, but a local b&m had this on sale at a price I couldn't refuse, and I couldn't be happier. Bright and crisp, perfect size. Two snaps and a twist.

Cons: None noted

Other Thoughts: The DVI issue that plagues people with this monitor is not a hardware related failure and is easily overcome by a few minutes of effort. People give up too easily and box a perfectly good monitor back up. If Viewsonic tech support isn't walking people through this easy fix, then minus half a star for poor tech support, but this is a rockin' monitor for the money.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat for Dual Monitor setup!

Pros: I have 2 of these LCD's. Awesome for dual monitor setup. Great picture, no dead pixels. My DVI ports work just fine.

Cons: None I've seen.

Other Thoughts: If I had the room, I'd get a third one. But, as it is,.. two of 'em take up quite a bit of space on my desk. That's not really a gripe though.

3 out of 5 eggsSending my forth one back!

Pros: I guess it's a nice LCD

Cons: This is my forth return of this model. first had a dead pixel, second had a bad DVI connector, third was refurbished that only stayed on for 3 seconds and then shut off and now my forth one has had it's DVI connector go bad. Viewsonic does not have an upgrade program so i'm stuck with this defective junk. Well if this one breaks this i'll have to invoke Louisiana's lemmon law and force them to give me my money back.

Other Thoughts: There are many bad things that i've heard about this DVI problem with Viewsonic monitors! Think i'll go Dxxl next time!!!

5 out of 5 eggsBest LCD I have yet to buy

Pros: The monitor is an extremely bright monitor leaving plenty of room for any user to adjust for their best viewing. The viewing angel on the lcd seems prefect to the eye no matter the angle viewing from. The monitor is best displayed dvi as the picture quality is like analog to hdtv. You notice the difference right away. I have never had one regret for buying this monitor.

Cons: There is an issue with the DVI that makes it so that sometimes it won't display. best thing is to call view sonic with the issue. To fix it do the following

conenct dvi and svga(main) with power computer on.
power pc down.
remove vga cable from monitor and computer
disconnect power cable monitor only (15 seconds)
reconnect power to the monitor restart pc.

This will solve the problem and only takes a few minutes to complete!
