5 out of 5 eggsReally nice bang for the buck

Pros: Picture quality is amazing in both games and videos. I game in a dark room, and have not experienced any backlight bleeding, etc. as some others have.

Also, no ghosting whatsoever in games (Killing Floor and Mount & Blade: Warband so far).

You really can't beat this monitor at this price.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I was lucky enough to find a PA246Q monitor stand on an auction Website for $40. Because this is VESA-compatible, I now have an awesome IPS monitor that swivels/rises for a total of $219.99

5 out of 5 eggsBright, Vivid Images

Pros: Accurate Colors
Bright, Crisp Images
Three Year Warranty

Cons: Stand could be better

Other Thoughts: Really like this one. Image quality is very good, comparable to my older (and far more costly) Dell Ultrasharp. Mine required some calibrating for best video viewing. I don't see any back light bleed (as another review mentioned) and no dead pixels.

The only drawback is the stand, which is a little shaky and definitely isn't the best made (not bad enough to deduct an egg). But at this price point, overall I'm very pleased.

2 out of 5 eggsUpdate

Pros: Its still a gorgeous monitor.

Cons: Significant backlight bleed and torchlighting issues. Not sure if this varies between individual panels, but freight costs dont make it worthwhile to send back. Disappointing.

Other Thoughts: This panel is flawed by lighting issues in dark scenes.

5 out of 5 eggsNice!

Pros: bright, beautiful color accuracy, easy menu navigation, price

Cons: Not the greatest looking( bezel case, stand etc) but that's personal taste and not that important if you are looking for picture quality

Other Thoughts: I have a decent well rated TN panel, and there is no comparison in picture quality. The ips is far better.

5 out of 5 eggsCurrently the best bang-for-the-buck monitor you can buy!

Pros: Very inexpensive for an IPS panel. Excellent image quality and good colors. Zero dead pixels, no bleeding, something rare for a backlit LED panel. Easy to set-up. Very light weight. Good power consumption.

Cons: Wish there was a height adjustment. Only DVI and D-Sub connections (no HDMI, no Display Port).

Other Thoughts: I am very picky when it comes to image quality. I have two Dell U2311s at home and needed two more for work. The U2311 has been discontinued so I had to look elsewhere. Low and behold I find this inexpensive eIPS panel by Viewsonic. Hook them up, calibrate and I cannot tell the difference between my Dells and Viewsonics. This is very impressive since the U2311 is the benchmark eIPS monitor. I originally paid $350 each for my U2311. The response time of 14ms is for color. If G to G, it's more like 6ms for you gamers, which I am not. I use them strictly for work. At $200, these Viewsonics are the best bang-for-the-buck in monitors.

1 out of 5 eggsPurple Glow

Pros: Cheap, fine for reading documents, browsing the internet, etc. Response time would be great for an average gamer, were it not for the major con.

Cons: There is an unbearable purple glow coming mostly from the bottom corners when viewing it straight on. It's really the whole screen--it just depends on what angle you are looking at it. Unfortunately the angle this effect shows up is so small that it's distracting even when viewing the monitor straight-on from 3 feet away. I've played with brightness, contrast, and colors, and no matter what all I see is the purple glow in the corners. It totally kills the experience in movies or games with dark scenes.

This also negatively affects the viewing angle. For example, a screen that is white from the front will turn light-purple at 45 degrees. There isn't any noticeable contrast shift like you would see in a TN panel. Everything just gets a little more purple.

Other Thoughts: Most IPS monitors are expensive for a reason. I was expecting to get something similar to to the slightly-more-expensive 23" models available (which have also been thoroughly reviewed by reputable sites), just without the bells and whistles. Next time I'll buy something with more reviews available.

5 out of 5 eggsIPS is best!

Pros: IPS technology definitely produces wider viewing angles and more vivid colors! This monitor looks as good as my wife's iMac's. Most IPS monitors are several hundred or thousand dollars; this new model sticks out as very affordable. Plus, Viewsonic has a 3 yr warranty and a zero dead pixel policy.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: I'm never buying anything but IPS monitors again!
