4 out of 5 eggsFlawed, but very good.

Pros: HD
Great for gaming/movies
Colors are amazing
I've had it for about 1.5 years, and it has never let me down.

Cons: Glossy screen that shows even the slightest smudge.
Pixels stick with great regularity, all I have to do is tap them, and it's fixed, but is is annoying.
Poor viewing angle, I have to have the monitor on my desk top, instead of on the monitor stand where I would like it.

Other Thoughts: All in all, it's a nice upgrade from the 17" 4:3 ratio CRT I had before, but I would like something I don't have to clean almost daily.

2 out of 5 eggsBeautiful, but...

Pros: Hands down the best looking picture I've ever seen on a monitor

HDMI input

Huge

Cons: 1-year warranty, which wouldn't be so bad except that about a month after the warranty was up, I suddenly got a thin bright-red vertical line spanning the height of the monitor, about 6" from the right side of the panel.

Other Thoughts: Switched video cards, tried the monitor on a different computer (even tried it without a computer, line's always there.) It's definitely the display.

2 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Great picture and color quality. Very nice size. Extensive options menu.

Cons: After about 7months after I bought this monitor I had a green vertical line appear on the right hand side. This ran all the way from the top to the bottom of the screen.

As I'm sitting here writing this I now have 7 vertical lines in varying colors all on the right hand side. All dead pixels. I did test another monitor which did not have this same issue, so it's not my computer.

I gave this monitor a 2 not because the monitor itself isn't great, but because I spent over an hour with customer support trying to get it replaced only to have to speak to a supervisor after that and because it failed so quickly.

Other Thoughts: They are shipping me a new monitor, thankfully, because I was just barely still in the warranty.

Two suggestions: Buy the extended warranty. After reading online it seems ALL HP monitors are dang near expected to fail close to or right after the basic warranty ends.

Also, keep your receipt. Make copies. Always. They sat here and tried to tell me that my warranty ended in September. My receipt states it ends on November. If I didn't have the receipt you can see how, in a different situation, I would have been in trouble.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Quick response time, very crisp, great contrast. Didn't particularly care about the built-in speakers (in fact, since I stopped using them eight months ago, I forgot they existed).

I would reiterate as other posters have, if you're upset this doesn't have HDMI support, then I would kindly suggest you, just.. perhaps..

READ. THE. SPECS. This monitor doesn't purport to support HDMI or DVI. It's not a con, because it's not offered. Que pasa?

Very good product.

Cons: None.

5 out of 5 eggsCords

Pros: Awesome monitor! Great graphics and have not a problem with it yet. Looking at getting a couple more monitors.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: To the previous comment, its not HP, its all of the manufacturer's. Not all computers support the HDMI format, therefore, that is why the VGA cords are a standard cord to be sent. This has NOTHING to do with HP and should not affect the decision making of anyone to get this monitor. Yes, you will have to buy new HDMI cords, IF your computers supports HDMI output. HDMI cords are expensive. But look around and you will find a good price. I found a 3 pk of 6 ft HDMI cords for 10 bucks!

5 out of 5 eggsupdate to my last review

Pros: the last time i wrote a review on this monitor i was basing it off of just the standard vga input as i hadn't had a cable for hdmi, but i just recently got my dvi to hdmi cable. now i can definitely say this monitor, for this price, is absolutely fantastic. i use this monitor in a dual monitor configuration with my older samsung 913t sitting right next to it and the difference is like night and day. this monitor is very bright which is good as it can help reduce reflections, but it's not scorch your eyes out bright. all in all, for the price i paid, it's unbeatable. considering i also paid literally twice for my 19 inch flat panel roughly 4 years ago and this one just puts it in the past.

Cons: still nothing to complain about. it's an awesome deal at this price.

Other Thoughts: i was wondering what the problem was with all these people talking about black bars all the way around when using native resolution. even switching to hdmi input now, it still fills the entire screen up with no extra work on my end. not sure.

if you're video card only has dvi outputs, make sure to plunk down the extra 10 bucks for a dvi to hdmi cable. i found a 15 ft. cable for less than 15 bucks here on newegg and it works perfectly fine with video card but their are plently to choose from.

5 out of 5 eggsNice Monitor

Pros: Great monitor with a gloss finish on the screen. Read the specs before ordering to make sure it meets your needs. Mine worked perfect right of the box, no adjusting needed, no dead pixels & no scratches. The base on this one in my opinion is better than most. All around a great monitor.

Cons: Doesn't ship with the cord required for high definition playback. This causes a lot of people to think this monitor is'nt what it says it is. I think its rather silly to send a HD monitor with only a vga cord but thats HP for you.

Other Thoughts: It amazes me the reviewers who say this monitor will not hit 1080p resolution. It caused by HP not shipping a proper HD cord with the monitor. If you expect to to hit high resolution through the vga cord that it ships with, you will be disappointed. Buy the right cord!

5 out of 5 eggswide screen concern

Pros: The picture quality when using a Blueray DVD with this unit is incredible. 1080P (progressive) means all the lines refresh simultaneously eliminating pixel drops that you get with interlaced. The issue mentioned about not getting a full screen needs to be put in perspective. Movies are not all filmed with the 16:9 ratio. This is a result of the arrival of Cinemascope VS flat movie prints. A "scope" movie is wider than 16:9 causing the bars at the top and bottom of typical "widescreen" monitors/TV's. My blueray copy of "bladerunner" is a scope print with the bars. My DVD of "24" is TV 16:9 ratio and fills the screen. I also noticed that the audio from a blueray DVD gives a good phanton surrond effect . Hope this helps.

Cons: none as yet
