1 out of 5 eggsDead monitor

Pros: Good monitor..... until it died

Cons: Worked for only 2 years

Other Thoughts: After reading all the other bad reviews about this monitor and service from the company, I will not even be attempting to get this monitor fixed when there is a good chance it will die out again. All the contact information on newegg for this product are non existent(website/email do not work) and had to use their EU website to even find any type of contact information. Considering they don't cover the shipping costs and have horrible times for fixing said product. Never going to buy this brand again.

2 out of 5 eggsHanns-G HL273HPB Black 27" 2ms HDMI Widescreen LED

Pros: Wide Screen, quick response time, resolution and color are good.

Cons: Three dead pixels on arrival, but really not noticeable unless you look for them. Then, a large swath of pixels in the lower right corner burned out or froze about 11 months into use. So now, there is a white haze of pixels throughout the lower right corner of the monitor. Have the 3 year warranty, but the panel is only warrantied for one year. Working with Hanns-G to get the panel replaced. We will see.

Other Thoughts: I was happy with the monitor while it worked. At this point, if it costs too much to have fixed, might as well purchase a new monitor with 2k resolution and 144MHz refresh rate. Not looking to buy another Hanns-G monitor.

1 out of 5 eggsHannspree Customer Service

Pros: None

Cons: If you own any monitor made by Hannspree, hopefully, you will never need service. I purchased two monitors, one of which developed an issue, and was returned for service to the Hannspree Repair in Ontario, CA. Initial email stated that the monitor would be returned in 7-10 business days. Once this time period had expired, I contacted Hannspree CS and was told that a part was on order, but the monitor would be repaired and shipped in 2-3 business days. I'm sure that anyone who has dealt with none responsive customer service, knows the drill from this point on. No monitor, difficulty with customer service, broken promises, and a handbook of excuses. The monitor has been out for service for two months and responses from customer service have been fewer and farther between. At this point, I am doubtful I will ever see the monitor again, and if by some miracle it should be repaired, I'm skeptical that the repair will be done properly and that eventually the monitor will be in the recycle bin.
I would love to violate Newegg's 'Product Review Guidelines,' but I want this to be read by as many potential Hannspree products purchasers as possible.
Thanks,
Dave

1 out of 5 eggsWorst support ever

Pros: Works well when it works. No fancy frills

Cons: Terrible support. DVI stopped working on two monitors.

Other Thoughts: I've had two of these for over a year and all of a sudden the DVI input went out on both. I can only gather that they are made cheaply and since they were used for the same amount of time, they died close together. Otherwise they have been good monitors. The stand is cheap and there are no frills, just a panel (that is what I was looking for though).
They were still under warranty so I sent one of them off to be repaired and am using the other one through HDMI while the other is repaired. Firstly, their phone system is terrible and goes in and out so add that on top of non native english speaking call center. Second, their system goes down a lot so when you call in they are unable to access your info. Third, expect to wait over a month when they say 7-10 business days.
I will never buy Hanns-G again! Expect things to go out and then the worst warranty service I have experienced.

2 out of 5 eggsHorrible RMA Process

Pros: nice while working 2 out of 2 died in first year and had to be returned for warranty repair.

Cons: horribly slow RMA process. 7 weeks in now waiting on warranty repair to be returned. emails are unanswered. calls only promise email update that never comes. they still are trying to get out of honoring the full 3 year warranty

Other Thoughts: Get an extra square trade warranty if you dare buy these monitors.

3 out of 5 eggsNice while they work, don't throw away your packaging

Pros: Great display, no dead pixels on the two I purchased. I have a 27" dell monitor that cost 4 times as much as these sitting beside them and they are an exact match with the Hanns-g in the Warm color setting. Warm is almost a required setting if you use Outlook 2013 with its crazy bright window.

Cons: 2 out of 2 of these monitors died the exact same way - turned off and would not turn back on - no LED power light. One died 6 months old and the other died exactly 367 days after purchase but 364 days after they were delivered. Second RMA in process now which prompted this review.

The RMA process is ridiculously slow. Once you call in you have to wait for an email asking for all the information you already provided to them on the phone and then they have to validate the information which takes 2-3 days after which they then send you the RMA and return instructions. You pay for return shipping to them of course in California and somewhere around 2+ weeks later you get your unit back.

Other Thoughts: The warranty is 3 years parts and labor but only 1 year on the display panel and LED backlight. I was told twice the 2nd failed unit was out of warranty when I called although the problem was most likely not with the display panel or backlight but with the power supply. Good thing I kept may original packaging and all paperwork/warranty docs were still in the box.

I have two Hanns-g 19" LCD monitors purchased in 2006 that still are going strong with no issues ever.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat value

Pros: Plenty bright and a matte screen makes it easy to see any time of day. The color accuracy is astounding after my previous list of sub-par monitors. Contrast is good; I haven't come across any scenes that are too dark for me to see clearly.

The screen is MASSIVE.

Cons: No "smart" features (autodimming would be nice). The blacks could be darker, especially around the edges. It doesn't interfere with seeing anything, just a minor annoyance.

Every other computer screen looks tiny.

Other Thoughts: Over a year in and it is just as good as day one. I can't bring myself to knock a star off for the lit up blacks. It's a fundamental issue of LCD screens. This isn't a thousand dollar 4k monitor, it's a quality, high value screen. They don't sacrifice any other aspects for the size.

1 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Inexpensive for its size........that's it.

Cons: Shipped in a store box, lucky it wasn't in pieces. After a few months light started leaking into the background at the lower right side. Now it's covering almost one third of the screen and in one place goes all the way across. HannsG's response was less than satisfactory, took them forever to respond with information and now they want me to ship it back to them (at my cost) so they can fix it, which they can't do anyway. It'll cost at least $ 75 to ship this
$ 160 monitor and in the meantime, I 'll have no monitor unless I go out and buy another one and then why would I even bother returning it at all? Frankly, their warranty seems worthless. On top of that, they have this extensive list detailing how it should be packed and shipped and yet, they originally shipped the thing in just a store box.

Other Thoughts: Their warranty is of no practical value.
