5 out of 5 eggsDell S2240L

Pros: The monitor plugged in and started working right away . I installed the drivers on the CD and from the Dell website and it works great.

Cons: HDMI cable didn't come with the monitor.

The glossy screen of this monitor acts like a mirror during the day, more so when the screen is darker or off. I am used to it now and I hardly even notice it anymore.

It came 1 day late because the USPS delivery person left the monitor in his car and only dropped off the HDMI cable I ordered with it. Booo!

Other Thoughts: I would recommend this monitor. I got it as a Shell Shocker and I am very impressed with it.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat!

Pros: This monitor is great. Considering I replaced a Sony 19' LCD that I purchased in 2007 for $700, the bang for your buck here is out of this world. Very light weight very clear picture all in all a great monitor especially for the price.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat monitor

Pros: Excellent color reproduction
Plenty of brightness
Great viewing angles

I replaced a LED-backlit ASUS 1600x900 monitor with a TN panel. Putting these two displays side by side and the difference is amazing. The viewing angles are way bigger, there's zero color shift on this monitor - it's everything an IPS panel is supposed to be.

Cons: HDMI and VGA only

Other Thoughts: I can't believe I thought TN was "good enough". How stupid I was.

4 out of 5 eggsPlenty Good

Pros: Bright, glossy but not too glossy, HDMI, thin, edge-to-edge glass, low power consumption, great colors, inexpensive, good for gaming

Cons: I am coming from a 2009 iMac and that computer is what sold me on IPS if nothing else. The blacks are not as black as the iMac nor the colors as crisp. I will have to learn how to properly calibrate it as the colors by default are not what I would expect.

No Vesa

Other Thoughts: That said gaming is fine on the screen, and when I saw it on display at Best Buy looked better side-by-side than almost anything else they had on the shelf. I got it on sale and the price made this steal IMO. Despite calibration issues (keep in mind I am colorblind just comparing it to other screens) the colors are very nice.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: the stand is solid-- this is a point that is sometimes reviewed poorly on monitors, and it's important.

Panel looks great. The border is definitely as narrow as shown (other reviews say it's fatter-- it's not).

I'm embarrassed to say that I only just learned about underscan / overscan! I've been living for years with a smaller screen than I had to. Out of the box, the screen only projects to 1/2" away from the real border until I adjusted this. Has nothing to do with the monitor, and everything to do with your graphics card.

If, like me, you too had no idea about this (no one ever told me, or pointed it out to me), look up "catalyst control overscan" and fix it.

Colors are good. Bright enough.
Had a 3 year old led. The controls are easy to reach but out of sight on the side, and quite intuitive.

I went from a matte TN to this gloss IPS-- it was definitely an upgrade.

Between comparable IPS monitors? I have no idea. They're all about $130 when on sale, maybe $126, at the time of writing this review.

21.5 vs 23"? Not sure. 23" is not actually much bigger, and as some people point out, 21.5" does mean finer pixels, which might make for a crisper image if you sit close to your computer (I do).
But then, 23" is not actually much more expensive.

6 in one hand, half a dozen in the other.

Cons: I should have read the details, and I just assumed.
This has no dvi port,
and there is no included dvi to hdmi cable.

If you have a desktop, you have a dvi cable, I guarantee it.
This means that now I have to go out and pay an extra $15 for a dvi/hdmi cable that I otherwise would not have needed.

The only included cable is VGA. vga? who uses vga anymore? and it's sold as a computer screen, too. shame on dell.

So for the exact same price, had i known, I might have bought another monitor with a dvi port and included dvi cable. Saves you $15.

That said, it's only $15

5 out of 5 eggsPerfect

Pros: 1920x1080. Panel is very thin. HDMI input with a 3.5mm audio jack for headphones/speakers. Base is very small, but well built. $130 is a fair price.

Contrary to what some of the people said in the reviews, the bezel is EXACTLY the same as what the pictures show, ~0.5"

Cons: High gloss may look classy, but it's somewhat counter-productive. I can see everything behind me if there's any light in the room.

Other Thoughts: Arrived in only 3 days with free shipping.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat quality monitor by value

Pros: -IPS monitor
-1920x1080 max resolution
-EXTREMELY lightweight
-3.5mm audio output jack
-Super sleek design
-Perfect for multiple display use

Cons: VGA input? Why give me a VGA input and not a DVI-A/D input?

Other Thoughts: If I had the space available I would have bought 3 of them instead of 2

5 out of 5 eggsThis is an amazing monitor

Pros: - contrast ratio is better than my 3D LG TV LM6400!!!
- because of this the colors pop
-Xbox 360 looks amazing on this, blows my old monitor away
- comes green tinted out of the box, you NEED to dial down the green in the custom RGB controls, 92 is a good number, after that, the monitor SHINES
- the picture is incredibly sharp and makes poor video quality video/games look bad...this could be a pro or con
-the glossy front is perfect, no more reflective than any other glossy screen I owned, just a clearer reflection ;-)
- NO LIGHT BLEED!!!

Cons: I REALLY wish I could have got this in 27 inches...the S2740L uses and IPS and I would rather just use my 47 inch IPS HDTV...I wanted MVA because it offers better blacks and something I can't get with a modern TV for the most part.

Other Thoughts: I used to have an HP2511x (highly rated TN panel) but want to give it to my dad so he can enjoy his computer more. This monitor blows away the HP 2511x in every sense after calibrated.

This is the closest you can get to a CRT monitor feel from a widescreen LCD monitor...I HIGHLY recommend it. Didn't buy from newegg because they were "out of stock" while they had a sale on, and then today, the day after when the sale is over, all of a sudden they have stock...would have bought new, but ended up with a used one for $150...which I am okay with.

5 out of 5 eggsSleek, sharp monitor

Pros: Very sharp, very slim and sleek looking.

Cons: Glare - the screen glass is very reflective. I understand this makes for sharper images but the reflections can be distracting in daylight.

Other Thoughts: I'm not sure what monitor Travispluse and Gollum are talking about. I own an S2240L and it looks exactly like the pictures. The thickest part of the bezel is on the bottom, and it's a little more than half an inch.
