Cable Modem Approvals

Zoom Models 5352, 5350, 5341J, 5341, and 5241 work with all cable modem services in the U.S. and most other countries that support North American DOCSIS. They have been certified by CableLabs, the cable service providers’ primary test lab. This is the only certification required by most U.S. cable services including Cablevision, and hundreds of others. Zoom cable modems have also been certified by Comcast, Cox, Time Warner Cable, and the small number of other service providers who require certification beyond CableLabs.

You'll find the approved models on the official websites of Comcast, Cox, Time Warner Cable, and Bright House.

On Comcast’s webpage: Under Vendor, find Zoom. Then under Model, find 5241, 5341,5341J, 5350, or 5352.

On Cox’s webpage: Under Brand, find Zoom. Then under Model, find 5241, 5341,5341J, or 5350.

On Time Warner Cable's webpage: Under Vendor, find Zoom. Then under Model, find 5341J, 5350, or 5352.

On Bright House’s webpage: If prompted, enter your zip code or choose your area. Then under Brand, find Zoom and models 5241J and 5352.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks great on WOW (Wide Open West)

Pros: Easy installation. WOW agent activated over phone with no issues. Running 170mb down 10 mins up (110/10 package). Had to continually reset company provided modem, not so with this one.

Cons: No battery backup on power failure.

5 out of 5 eggsBig Difference!

Pros: Works fine with Cox Internet.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Streaming movies and getting kicked off line was becoming a big pain in my house. A friend suggested I should replace the modem. This was the answer, since I still had the original modem from installation about 10 years ago. I owned the modem and never gave it a second thought. This unit was on a list of compatible modems on the Cox website. It was also the most affordable, with NewEgg offering the best price I could find on the Internet. So I ordered it and it arrived two days later. It only took minutes to install, I just went on the Cox website and it recognized the modem after I entered my information. It was a total of about 10 minutes. I am very happy with my internet speed and service, and streaming movies is a dream. I will mention that this does not seem to support the telephone service, but I am planning on dropping that service anyhow. Overall, this was a very good purchase!

4 out of 5 eggsT3 Timed Out On Moto SB

Pros: Resolves T3 connection errors which plague Moto SBs.

Cons: Between the hours of 10PM-12AM to 2AM there still does appear to be a connection loss due to the T3 error, however the modem appears to reconnect on it's own given a couple seconds to a few minutes.

Other Thoughts: Purchased to replace an existing Moto SB due to T3 errors which resulted in constant connection loss and rebooting of modem itself.

I've taken an egg off due to the fact there is still connection loss even though the modem is able to reconnect on it's own given time.

I still consider the modem in a testing phase as my ownership has not been very long.

5 out of 5 eggsBetter than Motorola

Pros: fast

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: Beats paying Time Warner a modem rental fee every month. This paid for itself in less than a year!

5 out of 5 eggsBuy This One

Pros: Solid.

I've had this thing for about a year, now, which means it's paid for itself in the fees I've saved renting one from [the evil cable company which shan't be named]. It's very solid (I think I've rebooted it about 4 times since I bought it, and 3 of them were because of ISP outages).

If you're thinking about buying a DOCSIS 3 modem, look no further - this is an excellent purchase.

Cons: Management interface could be easier to navigate/function better on various browsers.

Other Thoughts: My uplink only has half the channels bonded, but I would assume.

As other reviewers (here and elsewhere) have said, this box gets a little warm for me, but that doesn't seem to be a problem as it is still performing it's duties without complaint. It is considerably less warm than the DSL modem/router combination device I was provided by my last ISP and does not emit an ozone smell.

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing

Pros: My old modem from time Warner limited me at about 22 mb/s when im paying for 50 mb/s so bought this and am now running at around 56.4 mb/s downloads through steam reach 7 mb/s.

Cons: Time Warner needs to offer 100 mb/s in my area.

Other Thoughts: Really happy i bought this no more waiting on a simple web page to load for 10-20 seconds.

5 out of 5 eggsTime Warner Replacement

Pros: Solved all issues. Stability is rock solid

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Time Warner had been to my house 4x recently. Each time they cut off some fittings and replace them with new ones. Then they unplug the modem and replace it with one they took from someone else's house. I told them that there was something wrong with the modem and requested a brand new one since I am actually renting it, but they gave another used one. Hence buying this, stinks that it took an hour on the phone with them, just to find out that she put the mac address in her system wrong.

5 out of 5 eggsRecommend

Pros: Works as advertised. No problems. Cost: I was paying 8 bucks/month in rental fees for Comcast's lousy Ubee modem.

Cons: A little trouble the first night getting Comcast to recognize the modem.

Other Thoughts: I already had an "n" wireless router so a just bought the cable/modem version. In hind sight, it would have been nice to have only 1 device to plug in.

4 out of 5 eggsBetter than Motorola

Pros: Never reboots, never drops out, rarely reports correctable code word errors and never reports uncorrectable code word errors.

Cons: There is a common issue with blinking US blue light even though US channels are bonded. The blinking doesn't affect performance. Some suspect firmware and some suspect ISP infrastructure.

Other Thoughts: Bought to replace a SB6121 that had frequent reboots with T3 errors, constant drop outs (40-50 per day) and ridiculous amounts of uncorrectable code word errors.
