Cable Modem Approvals

Zoom Models 5352, 5350, 5341J, 5341, and 5241 work with all cable modem services in the U.S. and most other countries that support North American DOCSIS. They have been certified by CableLabs, the cable service providers’ primary test lab. This is the only certification required by most U.S. cable services including Cablevision, and hundreds of others. Zoom cable modems have also been certified by Comcast, Cox, Time Warner Cable, and the small number of other service providers who require certification beyond CableLabs.

You'll find the approved models on the official websites of Comcast, Cox, Time Warner Cable, and Bright House.

On Comcast’s webpage: Under Vendor, find Zoom. Then under Model, find 5241, 5341,5341J, 5350, or 5352.

On Cox’s webpage: Under Brand, find Zoom. Then under Model, find 5241, 5341,5341J, or 5350.

On Time Warner Cable's webpage: Under Vendor, find Zoom. Then under Model, find 5341J, 5350, or 5352.

5 out of 5 eggsRecommend

Pros: Works as advertised. No problems. Cost: I was paying 8 bucks/month in rental fees for Comcast's lousy Ubee modem.

Cons: A little trouble the first night getting Comcast to recognize the modem.

Other Thoughts: I already had an "n" wireless router so a just bought the cable/modem version. In hind sight, it would have been nice to have only 1 device to plug in.

4 out of 5 eggsBetter than Motorola

Pros: Never reboots, never drops out, rarely reports correctable code word errors and never reports uncorrectable code word errors.

Cons: There is a common issue with blinking US blue light even though US channels are bonded. The blinking doesn't affect performance. Some suspect firmware and some suspect ISP infrastructure.

Other Thoughts: Bought to replace a SB6121 that had frequent reboots with T3 errors, constant drop outs (40-50 per day) and ridiculous amounts of uncorrectable code word errors.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks with TWC

Pros: Works out of the box with my ISP. Was able to get it connected and running in under five minutes.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: I've purchased two of these devices. The first, which I purchased over a year ago, has been running in my house on TWC 50/5. The second, which I recently purchased, has been running in my apartment on TWC 2/1. Both were connected and running within five minutes of unpacking from the box.

Great price - great Newegg service!

4 out of 5 eggsBetter than the Motorola SB-6121

Pros: Easy setup and compatibility w/TWC. SB-6121 was constantly resetting and getting no ranging response errors even though firmware was the latest. The Zoom has only reset twice in the same period the SB would have about 40-50 times.

Cons: Still on the fence about the password protected logs and such, but none that I can think of for its actual use and performance.

Other Thoughts: Until TWC (or now Comcast) fixes the underlying issues this will have to do. Level 3 has looked at everything and said its fine but tech still had errors when testing directly off the pole.

1 out of 5 eggsIt strikes again

Pros: NONE

Cons: EVERYTHING

Other Thoughts: Coming up on 1 year of ownership of the product (6 months after my RMA) and I am having connectivity issues again same as it started before. I'm going to dup the unit, and go for something else.

5 out of 5 eggsWorking as intended

Pros: As this was mounted sideways the lights on top were a big help

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: This was bought to replace a Surfboard 6141 which was randomly disconnecting on Time Warner cable.

5 out of 5 eggsDitch Your Provider's DOCSIS 3

Pros: This modem provides a fast and easy setup and has worked without fuss since installation. It has a consistently fast connection without interruption or hiccups. Since replacing the TWC modem it has been smooth sailing on the internet for my home.

Cons: No built-in WiFi?

Other Thoughts: The original TWC modem provided a stuttering connection when it was working at all. It worked so poorly that I gave up on even reporting the problem and instead purchased this replacement. It immediately proved to be worth the investment. I'm also happy that the rental fee for that bogus modem they provided will come off my bill. Save yourself monthly $ and improve your connection.

4 out of 5 eggsDecent

Pros: Signal is solid I have wireless up stairs and down and we have 6 phones on wife as well as a PlayStation and 3 computers at a given time. It was a great price and is probably best use for the average home owner. I bought it because I was on a budget.

Cons: Even though it is able to support multiple devices the system can still get bogged down if you have people hard line who are online gaming or watching Netflix. If you do run heavy traffic for multiple devices I would say look at another model designed or heavy use.

5 out of 5 eggsIt works just fine

Pros: -Small
-No connection issues (resolves ip and such on its own, unless you live in an apt building where you have to call the isp to give them the modem's mac address)
-Comes with a standard yellow ethernet cable
-Lots of holes and slits for air movement

Cons: -Works great now, but it gets very hot it has me worried it won't last very long, even the design engineer knows that, that's why the case has so many vent holes.

Other Thoughts: I just hope it lasts, at $70-100 it should for a long time.
