5 out of 5 eggsGreat modem

Pros: Ease of installation
Configuration easy for me
Multiple wireless networks

Cons: The firewall is lacking configuration

Other Thoughts: I would encourage anyone who has modem issues with a cable provider provided modem to get their own and use it. Usually the monthly fee for using their modem plus the extra fee for wifi will pay for a new one over 12 months. That is the tangible return.

Ever since I have implemented this modem, my internet speed is always at peak or better than the best effort from my cable provider; I have a 50 by 5 service and I usually get about 60 MB down 6 MB up. Note your rates may vary by how good a connection you have from your provider. This is the intangible return/value-add that impressed me to write this review.

Before when it would rain, the old modem would have such issues handling the weather and the connection would drop in a medium to heavy rain. With the new one, I have had it only drop once and that was minutes before the power went out as well in a very heavy rain.

In the medium to heavy rain, it will get some errors but nothing too drastic.

If you do have to call your cable provider, they will tell you they can only do limited amount of tests as they don't control the modem. So for those not tech savvy, you may have to help them out with getting error information to determine where the issue is.

5 out of 5 eggsfantastic

Pros: Needed to replace a router that constantly disconnected and couldn't access numerous websites, including Facebook's picture server. Instant setup, wireless devices hooked up with no issue and everything works perfectly.

Cons: Well it's kind of big and an ugly white color..

1 out of 5 eggsWiFi sucks

Pros: Good feature set, easy setup

Cons: ISP is responsible for pushing firmware updates, and since it is non standard equipment, that just doesn't happen at all.
The modem and wired router portion of it works fine but the WiFi drops constantly and no amount of time spent fiddling with the settings will fix it. The issue with the WiFi could probably be fixed with a firmware update, but you can't manually update it, so that will never happen.
Don't waste your money.

1 out of 5 eggsDon't waste your money

Pros: Great unit at first look, Has it ALL !

Cons: Unit will not do all available options and remain stable, In-fact factory default will become unstable in a couple days.

Other Thoughts: I'm sure that The issue is that cable company is responsible for firmware upgrade's.
I just put unit in bridge mode and added a standalone router and standalone WIFI bridge, Each one doing its own thing and it seems to work well.

5 out of 5 eggsFast and reliable modem

Pros: Nice web interface, easy to configure, has both 2.4 GHz and 5.0 GHz radios, does not require external power supply, includes cable modem, 4 ports gigabit switch and WiFi access point in single housing. WPS can be disabled in settings. Allows 2 primary wireless networks and up to 6 wireless guest networks. Range is great in 2 levels apartment with brick walls.

Cons: Pretty large device and might not fit all places. Designed to be placed vertically only. Does not allow to enter custom DNS entries.

Other Thoughts: Purchased from local store to replace dated DOCSIS 2.0 Linksys modem. Using this with Cox in Virginia. Cox's subscriber self-configuration did not work and I had to make a phone call. After first call modem started to work properly, but I didn't get expected 50 mbps. Made second call to Cox, employee told me that they didn't switch DOCSIS 2.0 to 3.0 in modem profile configuration file. After this modem is working well and I am getting correct transfer rates.

3 out of 5 eggsAvoid If You're An Advanced User

Pros: - A fully-featured home network hub in one attractive white box!
- Easily fits under a desk!
- MoCA is awesome! It's a shame it's not more popular!

- Limited configurability for advanced routing functions.

Other Thoughts: I bought this as a cumulative update to my home network. I wanted 802.11ac, MoCA, a gigabit switch near the modem, and of course the modem itself. This thing has it all in one pretty package and it functions well.

For the standard use case, this product is a fine piece of work. However, I find nothing but disappointment when I want to do advanced tasks:
- Add a new route to a subnet in my home office? Nope! After scouring through all the menus and even telnet'ing in to see what the command prompt had to offer, I had to resort to an Ethernet switch instead.
- Turn on IPv6 and see if I can get an address from my ISP? Nope! This shipped with IPv6 support as I recall seeing the config option and deciding to wait to tackle that another day (the whole no-NAT thing caught me off guard). However, at some point my ISP decided to reconfigure my modem and now IPv6 is no longer an option. Chances are it's not supported by my ISP, but how do I know someone at the C.O. didn't just configure it incorrectly? They don't usually deal with gateways, so it is quite possible they just went with a default profile that only runs IPv4.

I usually avoid all-in-one solutions like the plague because they almost always sacrifice configurability and as parts go out of date space efficiency goes out the window. However, this one was just too perfect. If I had known that I was relinquishing control of the firmware and low-level settings to my cable company I would have avoided this product like a plague.

Oh well, consider this lesson learned. I'll still keep it around as it does serve its purpose, but I won't be willingly buying another gateway for the foreseeable future.

2 out of 5 eggsCheck with your cable co

Pros: I really liked the design and it just seems to be well built.

Cons: I only have wireless N clients so I can only comment on N performance and I have to say it's nothing special. About the same range as Linksys EA4500. You can't use a special character in your router log in password, not a big deal but it took me a while to figure out why I could not change the default log in password. But the deal breaker for me was the fact you can not use third party DNS. You can not manually enter third party DNS IP. Not a good value for the money.

Other Thoughts: I'm sure all of this can be resolved with a firmware update but you need to check and make sure your cable co will provide updates for this gateway. This is not something that can be done by an individual. Firmware updates are only provided by your ISP. My ISP is Mediacom and as of 10/2014 there is no support for this gateway.

4 out of 5 eggsPretty nice package

Pros: 1 Plug 3 devices.

Easy setup with Atlantic Broadband in Western PA/NY

Much faster than my previous modem.

Wireless is acceptable

Cons: 1 Plug 3 devices, single point of failure. Wireless is acceptable but not stellar.

Other Thoughts: Having an all in one can be trouble... on portion fails most likely it all fails would not suggest for a business. But mine has not failed to this point.

Wireless is okay. Not great but acceptable for my situation.

my previous modem was maxed at 15mbps, when I put this on and talked to my provider (atlanticbb) I upgraded to their max (75mb) Tested with some quality sites and saw a few downloads peak at 8.4MBps.. probably some compression there. Speed tests show i get as advertised.

When setting up with your provider disable MOCA until your provider gives you the okay. I was told (didn't confirm) that it could cause problems if the provider is not setup to block the outgoing signal though they have filters to correct this.

Over all so far happy with it. I am upset the price dropped shortly after i ordered though.
