Give yourself complete control of your plane with Saitek’s X52 Pro flight control system. And when we say complete control we mean it. Saitek included an SDK so you can customize the system for use with your favorite games. You can also program the various LEDs to give you warnings for stalls or spins.
Improving on the design of the original X52 the Pro has twice as many sensors in the non contact magnetic hall for increased accuracy. The stick can twist to control the rudder. The convenient pinkie switch doubles the number of programmable commands by acting as a shift button.
The progressive throttle control has detents for afterburner and idle, increasing the realism of the game. The MFD screen is now interactive and can display important game information directly. Multiple buttons and hat switches let you have extra functions immediately available. Whether you’re flying low under the radar or high to avoid SAMs this controller provides maximum control to ensure a successful mission.
Tech Level: somewhat high - Ownership: 1 week to 1 month
Pros: I came from an X-52, so I'll make direct comparisons for people in the same boat as myself. A huge upgrade in appearance, it no longer looks like a kids toy. My girlfriend asked me if I planned on taking over the world with it. The dual spring design adds some much needed substance to the feel of the stick, although it doesn't really kick in until you're past 50% in any direction. Absolutely perfect centering, apparently improvements have been made in the no-contact sensors. The hat switches and rotary dials have been redesigned to offer easier adjustments (I hated those little rubber notches).
Cons: I'm skeptical about the MFD ever being put to good use. The R-Lock still doesn't fully lock the stick, allowing perhaps 10-20% of twist movement, although even with it off I don't find myself unintentionally twisting it during normal use. On a component level, I look at the X-52, look at the X-52 Pro, and don't see the reason for the huge price difference. That said, I feel the X-52 Pro represents a pretty good value when compared to the offerings from CH and Thrustmaster.
Other Thoughts: I lied, I don't have a gf. If I did, I wouldn't have money to buy stuff like this.

Incredible

Pros: Incredible stick, very adjustable, works in every program. Using the magic bus you can literally type using your joysticks! More buttons than you should ever need not to mention that it comes with macro programming software so once you run out of buttons on the first mode there are still two others!! providing for a massive number of buttons that after 9 months of owning i still have not attempted! they are very precise and the LEDs-if you want- can be dimmed or turned off.
Cons: Well after I got my new system and plugged them in something came loose inside my first set and New egg would not take them back since i no longer had the packaging and reciepts so I went to the saitek forum and they asked me to send an email to the support, they told me to ship it back as securely as possible that they would repair or fix them... a month later I had brand new sticks at my door with a reciept that said "malfuntion - replaced!" then another problem arose, saitek has been slow and has not gotten their software up to par with Vista x64 so the SST programming software does not work- limiting my button capability.
Other Thoughts: I love the sticks because they are so comfortable and programmable they are VERY large so make sure you have room on your desk for them. take care of them and they will last atleast 3-4 years! very very precise!

Pros: This joystick is everything a sim enthusiast can ask for; programmabillity, functionality, durability, and quality. The buttons are logically laid out, well lit, and responsive with NO sticking what so ever. The LCD display can be used with Windows Media Player and its clock works great for timing spawn times on targets =D. HEAVY duty metal parts that experience high wear like the triggers and dual ball bearing assembly.
Cons: Like all electronics, dust is the enemy. THE RUDDER WILL STOP WORKING AFTER USE!!! This fix is easy though! Just take some aerosol cleaner that is safe for electronics and printed circuit boards and take apart the handle part of the joystick and spray it in the potentiometer, or the gold disk thing with slots in it. Just be careful taking it apart as the pinky toggle has a wire that must be taken note of. Also the palm rest must come off and it is HARD to get off. Just be patient and work it off SLOWLY as it is easy to crack the plastic sockets that hold it in place.
Other Thoughts: I've had this for about 3 years and I love it. Works great and will last many more.

Fails at the basics
Reviewed By: lucase on 10/20/2009
Tech Level: somewhat high - Ownership: 1 month to 1 year
Pros: It has plenty of buttons, levers etc.
Cons: It fails at the basics: The spring mechanism has a small but annoying stickiness at the central position, so if you need to move the joystick just a little (like maintaining level flight) you have to struggle it a bit. The throttle has a stop for afterburner that it useless. That stop may or may not coincide with the game start of afterburner and it may bother if the plane doesn't have a.b..
Other Thoughts: I look forward to remove the spring and the throttle stop. Hard to use for helis (in x-plane).

Pros: Great looking product. Many useful features, buttons and even led lights (looks amazing in dark room). Easy set up. Very comfortable throttle and control stick. I was simply amazed by this flight control when received it and opened the box.
Cons: Here is the things that made me put that bad boy back in the box and sent it back:
Terrible software (need internet connection & at least an hour to get proper software). Button/key assignment is even worst then I could of imagined. Everything else seemed to work just fine.
Other Thoughts: Don't waste your time and money, go for other brands. My next flight control system will be Logitech G940. But even they need to make significant modification to their current product (more features, more LED lights - so people won't be scared away by it's $300 dollar price).
