5 out of 5 eggsLasted 2 yrs

Pros: I've seen many people that had problem with the thing, but I owned this about 2 yrs and it is still working great.
Although I am getting a new one because the sponge thing
that covers the year is wearing off

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: I would buy this one again if it was little cheaper than usual

5 out of 5 eggsCouldn't Possibly Expect More

Pros: This headset has the impressive sound quality that allows me to hear footsteps behind me in gaming, and the sound direction is easily distinguishable. While in voice chat, the mic easily picks up every sound I make. The headset is comfortable and sits nicely around my ears. I have a fairly big head, but my head doesn't feel strained at all even after hours of usage. The overall construction is solid, there are no loose parts or fittings. I got mine for less than $30, and it really has been quite the bang for the buck.

Cons: The mic is perhaps a bit too sensitive, as it can literally pick up my breathing if I have it too close to my nose.

Other Thoughts: I bought my current pair 2 years ago because my dog chewed through the cords on my original pair, which I had gotten another 2 years before and had liked it very much. The reliability I've had with my current pair and the ones before have been absolutely exceptional. I haven't experienced any of the difficulties some of the other reviewers have mentioned.

3 out of 5 eggsIt was ok...

Pros: Cheap, easy use, sound quality was decent, comfortable, overall a decent headset.

Cons: Broke in 3 months, the wiring around the mute and volume buttons was ruined, currently using duct tape to hold it together so the mic works. The audio still comes out fine, but the mic is barely working. It didn't last very long, and I take care of my headsets, but I guess that's what you get for a $40 headset

1 out of 5 eggsDONT BUY!!

Pros: -sound quality is pretty good

-Mic is clear

Cons: -The cords for these headsets after months of ownership twist up and eventually the corners start to wear exposing wires (not bad though)

THE REAL COMPLAINT- is that the wiring is so bad whenever you move your head, you hear crackling from the wires.. And yes I take good care of my headsets the quality is still there.. when i dont move my head

Other Thoughts: do yourself a favor and invest in something with quality wiring

1 out of 5 eggsHorrible Mic

Pros: I couldn't reach any pros

Cons: The microphone is extremely loud and ultra sensitive, upon arriving the microphone sounded extremely staticy and the price for a RMA return is 1/3 the cost of the headset... Definately the worst headset I have ever owned.

2 out of 5 eggsNot Happy with these

Pros: Inexpensive.

Cons: Lousy sound quality. Very basey and the base is fuzzy sounding, not clear at all. The higher frequencies are very weak. Not comfortable unless you have a medium to small sized head. For larger people like myself it doesn't come down low enough on the ears.

Other Thoughts: I bought these to replace my PLANTRONICS 76921-11 USB Connector .Audio 400 Headset that the sound on one side had started messing up. Probably because of catching the cable when standing up and that side is broken inside the cable. The Plantronics however sounds unbelievably better than this Microsoft headset. No comparison at all. I'll keep the MS ones for a backup set but I'm going to buy another Plantronics set for regular use. They not only sound much better but are much more comfortable.

3 out of 5 eggsOnly for its purpose - voice &chat

Pros: Quality of construction os OK (plastic, materials, parts and manufacturing).
There will be no noise in your voice.
Volume regulation and mic mute in-line.

Cons: OK only for voice (and a little for games), but not for music.
You cannot decrease the sound volume till zero - it remains quite noticeable.
If you have a high price and quality discrete sound card in your desktop PC, then bear in mind that it will not be used at all, since this headset is USB and has its own "sound card" CM108. You will have to install a software driver.

Other Thoughts: This headset corresponds to its name - "...chat". If you are picky music lover, then don't try to listen to music through them or you'll get mad. The situation still can be improved a little if you use the internal software equaliser of player.

Microphone noise-canceling does not mean that the microphone is good. I unsoldered the mic and connected it directly to my sound card (actually, MoBo) jack as a usual mic, and the quality of the recorded sound was very bad - a lot of noise. Noise-canceling here means they cut of (physically) all high frequencies - a kind of high-frequency filter. That is why there is no possibility to increase highs in the driver (software) like equalizer.

Speakers themselves are not that bad as they sound. I also unsoldered the speakers and connected them directly to sound card too. And, using the equalizer of Realtek driver, I acheived more or less decent quality when I increased highs and lows. So the muffled sound is caused, I guess, by that filter for noise-cancelling.
Chip inside is CM108. Speakers' diameter 40 mm.

In short, if you need to chat only (Skype, etc), you can buy them

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing

Pros: The sound quality is amazing. Good for gaming, good for music, good for movies, good for any media with audio. The mic quality is clear and isn't too sensitive (more on that).

The actual headphones tilt so you can adjust them to fit your head. It's also tight enough so it stays on your head but doesnt crush your ears.

Cons: None really. They start hurting your ears after awhile but thats expected.

Other Thoughts: Broke :( need to buy another. stuck with this... "shike HD" headset from Iraq...
