5 out of 5 eggsDurable

Pros: I've had this for 7 months now and it has had no problem with the occasional drop on the floor. They are pretty comfortable. Mic quality was much better than I would expect for this price. Plug and play.

Cons: The optional downloadable software for this is a bit bloated and not very useful. I wouldn't bother.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Workhorse

Pros: This headset is the workhorse of headset/mic combos in my humble opinion. I have been using this model (just bought my second pair for my nephew) for years. MS Lifechat is comfortable for long session times. The mic has no problem registering perfectly with TeamSpeak or Ventrillo. This headset is a good fit both for casual Skype use and hardcore MMO gaming sessions alike. The price point is less than half that of 'gaming' headset/mic combos. Microsoft got it right with this one. The cushions on the ear muffs make it usable for long durations. They are not quite over ear or on ear. Somewhere in the middle. The USB connection allows for fast easy set up and use.

Cons: I do wish they had made the ear muffs a TEENSY bit bigger and made them full-on OVER ear headsets. This would only have increased the use time.

Other Thoughts: If you care about money and quality and need a headset/mic combo that is durable and comfortable and affordable, but you are smart enough not to get sucked into the "fashionable' gaming brands peripherals. Buy this product.

4 out of 5 eggsWorks with Ubuntu

Pros: Sturdy, decent sound, both the microphone and the speakers work fine with Ubuntu.

I've been through a few of these. They last me a year or two each, which is pretty good. Some of the other cheap headsets last me less than 6 months.

Cons: Not top quality in any regard.

Other Thoughts: For the money they are the best I've found.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Headset

Pros: Excellent headset.

The on-board mic works great and the speakers are all I need for my use.

I don't use these the same as an audiophile may; they're plugged into my PC and I use them for work and other "phone" conversations. I've used a couple other brands (Plantronics, Rosewill, etc) and this *very basic* headset works better than all the others.

Cons: The only gripe I have is the in-line volume control "box" is a bit large and gets caught on things. Also, it occasionally is switched to "Mute" attributable to it's large size.

2 out of 5 eggsGreat Audio - Mic is great...when it works

Pros: Excellent sound and voice

Cons: Durability. Mics only work for a little while.

Other Thoughts: I have bought 5 of these over the past years. I use as well as my son. Under moderate daily usage the mic does not hold up.

I will not be buying a 6th even though the price on these are great.

2 out of 5 eggsPainful to wear

Pros: Excellent voice and sound clarity. Functions as well as I could ask for.

Cons: The top strap cuts into the top of my head for starters. I took a file to the sharp plastic on top to lessen the pain, but it's definitely still there. I'm sure the fact that I am folliclly challenged has much to do with that however. If I'm on a long call, I usually get classy and place an ankle sock on the top of my head before putting on the headset. Working from home is a plus if using this method.

The wort part is the damage it does to my ears. I don't think I have large ears, but I can't really see them. Nobody has ever mocked me for them, so that's a sign in my favor. No matter how I adjust these, they hurt after a long call (30 minutes +). I just got off of a 4 hour call using these and the pain prompted me to come here and buy a new headset after I finish this review.

Other Thoughts: If your ears are slightly below average size or smaller, and you have hair, you'll enjoy these.

4 out of 5 eggsGood headset and mic, but don't buy if you have larger ears.

Pros: Mic works great
Good for music and gaming on the cheap

Cons: Very uncomfortable for people with bigger ears and heads. Like me. :P

Other Thoughts: Probably I'd recommend this more if I had a smaller head

5 out of 5 eggsVery good, very solid

Pros: USB, comfortable, quality build, price

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: I bought this because I had some buggy onboard sound and I couldn't get it to work well with my old 3.5mm plug headset. This thing has been very solid. I love it. I use it for gaming and Skype.

5 out of 5 eggsDecent headsets

Pros: Easy to setup, comfortable, decent sound. So far pretty durable.

Cons: None really other than maybe price as compared to similar headsets.

Other Thoughts: I bought these to use at work. In the IT business and my neighbors can't keep the noise down. Good at drowing out exterior noise and listening to music. I use this with my IP phone and audio and mic works great. My work has since bought us some very expensive Plantronics headsets and the Microsoft ones are every bit as good.
