4 out of 5 eggsDecent headphones for the price

Pros: The HD 448's are fairly comfortable and easy to wear for long periods of time. They deliver crisp and clean mids and highs, very lightweight too.

Cons: Lack of bass can be a serious issue if you like music with a kick in it, even a bit.

5 out of 5 eggsSennheiser Ist Wunderbar

Pros: I purchased headphones based on Newegg customer feedback, and allowed weeks of constant use prior to offering my opinion. Overall, I highly rate these headphones based on sound reproduction of both analog (vinyl and cassette tape) and digital (CD/DVD and cable) media. As previously opined on my review of ML Motion 12s, I strive to hear sound recordings as the artist intended. After a burn-in of over 100 hours, the rock music flowing from the cans is sweet, resonant, and warm. I personally find minor tweaking of the bass (upward) and treble (downward) on the amplifier/receiver to easily satisfy my simplistic desire for honest reproduction.

Cons: Over-the-ear design provides total encapsulation into the music, which has always been my preference. The headphones are sturdy, lightweight, and highly adjustable. They fit my head (8 1/4 hat size) well, with no slippage as I navigate around my 20' X 20' music [read man cave] room. I have a 10' extension cable that does not impact sound. However, after 90 minutes of continuous wear my ears beckon for momentary release from pressure. After fidgeting for a few seconds, I'm good to go for another 90 minutes.

Other Thoughts: Once again, Newegg delivery service is lightning fast. Price and sound performance level make the Sennheiser 448s a perfect fit for my music listening tastes. [NOTE: Rock music collection runs gamut from classic to power pop to grunge to metal to contemporary alternative and progressive -- with lots of ringing and crunching guitar. I cannot comment on suitability of these headphones for soul, electronica, rap, hip hop, gaming, or movies.]

5 out of 5 eggsNewegged!!

Pros: They are very comfortable. I like the forward headband that rests slightly forward of the traditional position. Sealed cups. I can't hear what I don't want to hear and she can't hear me. Great sound reproduction. Balanced, not overly bright or bass heavy. Lightweight. The cord ability to be 2 different lengths. Sennheiser is pretty much a safe bet. I bought my 1st set in 1975.

Cons: none

3 out of 5 eggsMy 448 headphones sit in the closet

Pros: Treble: 4 stars
Mid: 4 stars

Cons: Bass: 0 star

Other Thoughts: (4+4+0)/3 = 2.67 stars
The bass was so lacking, I didn't use the set at all. It now sits in the closet to prove that I've once owned a hyped up Sennheiser headphone set and would never again.

4 out of 5 eggsMy 4th one from Sennheiser

Pros: Upgrade this from a HD-428 mainly for it's cord length. The sound is beautiful all around and extremely comfortable to the ear. As mention, the cord is only 4.6 feet as compare to the 428 which is 10 foot long...That's twice of me a bit, so this is more fit for public listening.

Cons: Bass is always a lack of in Sennheiser products. Quality of the build may bring up risk but should stay sturdy if you keep it safe. The cord end is also a straight plug-in rather than a L twist. This could be a problem as people like me tend to put into my pockets and the wire can end up crimping.

Other Thoughts: Bought it at $50 which was a must buy. For those who are contemplating on this, go for it. It looks nicer, better cord quality, sound high and crisp and can wear it for hours without any discomfort (other than the occasion sweat building up)

5 out of 5 eggsPrettty awesome! Very comfortable.

Pros: Have had for a few weeks now, and I must say they're a pleasure to wear. Cushions go completely over and around your ears so there's no pressure directly on your ears (My ears are small though, but I don't think anyone should have a problem unless their ears are abnormally big). Sound is very crisp too,

Cons: If you turn your head entirely to the left or to the right too far the cushions might leak a little outside sound to your ears. Otherwise they're fine.

Other Thoughts: No instruction manual, but headphones should be pretty self explanatory I guess

4 out of 5 eggsWorth the cash

Pros: I guess I'm kind of a wanna-be audiophile, and while I don't have all that much experience with headphones, these are definitely the best I've ever owned. They're not perfect, but the sound these bad boys produce is crystal-clear and doesn't distort even at uncomfortably loud volumes, even when plugged into my laptop. They're also quite comfortable.

Cons: The volume of the bass they produce is out of proportion with the midrange and highs. It's still perfectly clear and pleasantly rich, but you may need to push a little extra volume to get the bass you want out of them.

The ear padding doesn't seal very well and thus doesn't keep out noise as well as I'd like. It's still adequate, though, and the awesome sound they crank can easily drown out ambient noise or even a TV in close proximity.

Maybe it's just me, but they seem like they're made a bit cheaply. The plastic they're made of appears to be a tad flimsy. I expected more out of the build quality of such an expensive set of headphones.

Other Thoughts: I got them for $50 during the Black Friday event, and they're worth every penny of that and this new $60 sticker price. If you're in the market for a very nice set of headphone but don't want to break the bank for them, the HD 448s are for you.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: great response
smooth sound
bass response is great for what I listen to (Christian, soft bass tones)
very true sound and great for mixing live music (used for setting the sound/eq at our church)
noise cancellation is a notch below great, but much better than average

Cons: a tad heavy but not too bad.

Other Thoughts: for the money, I can't imagine there being a better buy
