2 out of 5 eggsUpdate on previous review

Pros: These headphones still sound as descent today as they did when I first purchased them. However......

Cons: Given that I spent nearly $300 on these headphones, I was always UBER careful when using them. While I did take them on busiiness trips, I worried about them as though I was a first time mother.

Didnt really help (or maybe it did). Within the first year, the head band started to disentergrate and the left speaker ended up detached. fortunately this all happened in the first year as these headphones only have a one year warranty

i had to ship them back to Polk in the original box with all the original accessories. Given that I had to go thru such a lengthy process i was expecting to receive a new pair as again these cost $300 and then literally fell apart within the first year of use.

In a span of about 10 business days I waited to receive the new pair. Nope, I got my old pair back with a new headband installed. Boy do I have a lot of confidence as the new headband looks just like the first. At this point, I expect them to last another 6 months when the warranty period is over.

Don't know if I'll ever be able to waste $300 on a One-Year Rental again. Seriously disappointed. When they fall apart next time, I guess I'll go back to my 4 year old pair of Klipsch ear buds that I paid $80 for.

Honestly, I'm very dissapointed in my overall ownership of this item.

Other Thoughts: I'm getting more and more upset as I write this follow up review so i think I will just end it now and not ruin my Saturday...

2 out of 5 eggsDisappointed

Pros: Sound Quality: The headphones sound very good. All levels are nice and crisp. Excellent for music and movies.

Noise Cancelling: Pretty decent. Perfect for screaming babies on flights and snoring roommates.

Other: Overall appearance is nice. Carbon fiber looks sharp. Removable cable is awesome for travel. VERY COMFORTABLE!! The Apple Controls are awesome!

Cons: The only bad thing I have to say about these headphones is the durability. I have had them for about 7 months and they are literally falling apart. The material that covers the headband has all but fallen off, I currently have it taped together. Today at work, the left speaker completely stopped working.

Other Thoughts: For headphones that are over $300, I expect a lot from them. These stack up in every way EXCEPT durability. For this price, they should last for a long time... NOT 7 MONTHS!!!

5 out of 5 eggsAMAZING headphones!

Pros: By far, the best headphones I have ever listened to. Bass is present without being boomy - mids and highs are very well defined. Also, it's study construction makes me believe this headphone will last for decades. After wearing these headphones, Bose QCs will feel like cheap plastic. I have listen to AKGs, Seinheisers, and Bose, and these are by far the best sounding ones. Nose cancelling is not bad either, however not as good as QCs.

Cons: Will not work without batteries. However, I believe the batteries are necessary to power some sort of internal equalizer, along with the noise cancellation.

Other Thoughts: Buy it. You won't regret. If you have a Beats by Dr. Dre, do me a favor and burn those.

5 out of 5 eggsWOW!!

Pros: ULTRA Comfortable headphones that rival Bose for Noise Cancellation yet offer a sound quality that out performs all others at this price point.

I really like the Push-To-Hear function & the iPhone/iPod control features as well. Push-To-Hear is a feature that I've always wanted but didn't know it. After testing this feature out last week on a United flight, I will no longer have to remove my headphones unless I want to! If the guy next to me or the flight attendant wants to say something, I just hit the button.

As for the iPhone control features, they are simple basic tools for playing music & changing volume control. Best news is that the interface is thru the 3.5mm cable & not the super-wide plug on the bottom of the phone. Apple just announced a new smaller sized connector for the iPhone 5 so this is really good news.

Cons: The cost is a bit high if you appreciate your hearing and need noise cancellation. While these headphones offer superior Noise Cancellation technology, you can easily find cheaper headphones that will provide noise cancellation that will protect your ears.

Other Thoughts: I never bought a pair of $300 Bose Headphones as I always felt as though they were too expensive. With the Polk Audio UltraFocus 8000 headphones, that thought never crossed my mind

P.S. Yes I know the Bose headphones cost less than the Polk's. However, the Bose headphones are just way overpriced...).
