4 out of 5 eggsGreat lows & punch

Pros: Bass sounds great on these earbuds. Once I found the right tips for my ears, I was really impressed with the punch. I've always liked the body-shaking effect that good low bass has on speaker systems, so I was delighted to find that these headphones provided that sort of oomph in such a small package. On some songs at high volume, I swear I can feel my eyeballs shake.

Although these aren't noise-cancelling, I found that using the conical tips blocks out a considerable amount of ambient noise; it makes it possible to use them at low volume on airplanes while still enjoying the music.

Cons: Mid-highs can get a bit overpowered by bass. It's particularly noticeable on higher vocals--this makes it a lot tougher to hear crisp sounds at those frequencies.

Other Thoughts: For urban music and/or other music with punchy bass, these are excellent earbuds, and the isolation offered by the conical tips make them a great way to enjoy that kind of music in a quiet environment (i.e. in the office, or a library) without disturbing others or sacrificing bass sound.

2 out of 5 eggsMonster Turbine

Pros: Great sound, incredible lows, mids and highs. Comfortable design.

Cons: The headphone for the left ear has spontaneously begun to output mids and highs at drastically reduced volume. This is the only reason I'm not giving these headphones the five-star review they deserve otherwise. But...seriously. I've had them for just over a month, taken impeccable care of them, and now it is past the date that I can return them to Best Buy (the location of my purchase), and they aren't working properly. If you plan on buying these, take note of the fairly poor craftsmanship.

Pros: 1) Great sound throughout the range - clear but-not-piercing highs, and deep, well-defined lows.
2) Comfortable.

Cons: 1) Could use a set of larger and/or stiffer earbud tips.
2) The detail these things produce has revealed just how low-quality all those old 128kbps MP3's really are.

Other Thoughts: I'm no audiophile, but I appreciate music enough to know I needed and upgrade from the standard iPod earbuds. I spent $170 on a well-regarded brand of in-ears, and was immediately disappointed with the complete lack of bass - and this was after ensuring I had the proper fit. At that point, my search was on for in-ears that could produce bass comparable to loudspeakers - my search led me to these, and I was not disappointed. While the bass response is excellent, I'm most impressed with just how much additional texture these things reveal. The Turbines have breathed new life into my music library.

While the earbud tips are very soft and comfortable, for me, they're a little TOO soft. The silicone softens as it warms, and that allows the earbuds to lose their fit. I didn't dock an egg for this, as I don't think this problem would happen for everyone. Until I get around to finding some 3rd party foam tips, I wrap the cord over my ears to relieve tension, and that helps.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Very clean, articulate bass, warm mids, and very clear highs. also very well balanced despite the huge amount of bass these produces. got these as a set of review headphones from monster, the tips feel very nice and comfortable too.

Cons: wires is a bit bad, they're the tangley type, why they didnt include the dr dre tours wires is beyond me, specially when monster is a cable company. the part of the cable near the plug looks like it will easily break and frail, and monster's 1 year warranty is pretty short.

Other Thoughts: was very surprised that monster could create such a fine product despite their overpriced and mediocre quality cables that dominate their operations
