2 out of 5 eggsMeh

Pros: Inexpensive (at least when heavily discounted by NewEgg)

Cons: Too much hiss

Other Thoughts: I bought these based on reviews that said they were nearly as good as Bose. Unfortunately, they weren't even close. The hiss is noticeable and annoying. If you just want some cheap NR headphones, they might do the trick. But if you're looking for a better pair or an upgrade, keep looking. Soon there will be digital noise reduction which will destroy anything that exists today.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Value for money

Pros: I just used this set for a trip from east coast to west coast. I used these for continous 6 hrs. Canceling the engine sound made the trip go fast and I did not come out with my head spinning. The sound quality for the environment I used these in is just awsome. I don't understand why people are looking for High Fidelity sound in an environment where reducing any noise would be great. Highly recomend these for traveling or at home. Battery life , 2AAA, seems be very good. At home you don't have to turn on the active circuitary. If your Dishwasher or other noisy appliances are running; this unit will definitely help. You can wait for better price of around $50. Comes with a 1/4" jack also.

Cons: None really;
The case is a bit bulky ; so takes up too much space in the travel bag.

4 out of 5 eggspick up if you get a good deal on them

Pros: leatherette cushioning on the sides minimal cushioning on the to piece of the headband, comfortable and they dont put alot of pressure on the ears after hours of listening, noise cancelling works well and will cancel out just about all the noise in the gym and NYC trains except for weights slamming right next to you or someone talking on the train, there is a boost in highs and lows when the noise cancelling is turned on and comes with a case

Cons: passive noise cancelling isnt that good, active works well, the mids are not as accentuated and there is a decrease in clarity from the highs when compared to sennheiser hd200 series when putting it in the case the end of the wire leading to the headphones need to be bent 90degrees in order for it to zip
they're more of a circumaural/supraural fitting as the cups are too small a diameter to completely fit all around the ears but dont cause any sound leaking and there is a loss in low frequency in audio quality (ie - bass guitar - but who cares) when the noise cancelling is active

Other Thoughts: ive been using the sennheiser hd series for almost 2 years, great performance for the price and my previous noise cancelling heapdhones were the sony nc6 which had atrocious sound quality, design and build quality. i also picked these up when they were 50bux w/ free shipping i would definitely recommend them at that price but as a pair of $100 NC headphones its tough to recommend when a lot of other NC's are around that price range
