The LiteOn's new SuperAllWrite drive LH-20A1P-185 gives you the choice of watching DVD movies or recording them. The ability to use all standard CD and DVD media formats lets you choose the media based on the task.

This multi-format DVD burner uses the popular IDE interface for maximum system compatibility. This lets you upgrade an older system or build it into a new one.

With write speeds of up to 20X for writable DVD±R media and 48X for CD-R media this drive makes short work of any task you give it. SmartBurn technology avoids buffer underrun errors, automatically adjusting the writing strategy and running OPC to provide the clean burns and greatly reduce the number of wasted discs.

Decent drive

Pros: Potential to burn very fast (I only have 8x media). Fast read speeds too. Cheap!

Cons: Seems to take a while to spin up a disk. (hence the 1 star deduction) I'm used to an NEC that spins up as soon as you insert the disk. This model seems to take up to 10 secs to even spin the disk up. Maybe its a LiteON thing?

Other Thoughts: Very nice drive. Quiet, fast, and seemingly reliable so far. This one seems to read disks that my old NEC had a difficult time with.

Pros: Fast, inexpensive, great drive. Ive had many lite-on drives and have loved them all! Easy plug and play install.

Cons: none, some people complain that this thing sounds like a plane taking off while spinning up. Ive found that while this model is louder than my previous 12x dvdr, but that is to be expected because of the higher spin speeds required to burn at faster rates.

Other Thoughts: writable media is not up to the speed of this burner yet. One in five dvds that I burn fail. No fault of the burner. Also, be aware that OEM doesnt come with any cables or software, if you need software and cables get the RETAIL version. Thats why the OEM version is less expensive.

Pros: It's a DVD burner. It works.

Cons: None particularly.

Other Thoughts: There's not much to say about your basic no-frills DVD burner. You put blanks in, you get DVDs out. It hasn't seen a lot of heacvy use for me, but it's been reliable when needed. No problems, anyhow.

Cons: Not one of the fastest DVD burners out there but it serves the purpose.

Other Thoughts: Nice little burner, quite a work horse. Owned for one month and have burned about 100 discs so far and never skips a beat!

Awesome Drive

Pros: I really like this drive... I find it to be really fast and works great!

Cons: The only problem i have with this drive is that it louder than a jet engine... if it wasn't for the noise issue, I'd give it a 5!

Other Thoughts: Great drive for the price aside from the noise!!!! I wouldn't recommend for system builders, as the noise may scare away some less educated customers. If noise doesnt bother you that much, its a great drive for the price.
