Pros: Price. Works. (But see below.)

Cons: Fickle with disks burnt by other burners. (Something I thought had gone the way of the dodo awhile back.)

Other Thoughts: The fickleness is a hassle.

Use to work great

Tech Level: high - Ownership: more than 1 year

Pros: Was fast, quiet, and, great for burning most types of media. Worked for over a year.

Cons: After using it for more then a year and a half, it suddenly stopped reading blank DVDs, or rather blank DVD DLs. It works with other discs like regular DVDs and CDs, but cannot read blank DVD DLs.

Other Thoughts: Seems like it was just a random hardware malfunction otherwise if that hadn't happened it'd be 5/5.

Pros: Inexpensive. LITE-ON once had a good reputation.

Cons: Drive was defective, which meant I couldn't install the operating system on my new build. At first I thought it was a problem with the BIOS configuration or that the OS was missing a driver. After wasting two days trying to get my system up I finally installed another DVD drive and it was all smooth sailing after that.

Other Thoughts: Even the best products can be defective.
