1 out of 5 eggsLackluster support

Pros: Drive seemed to work well while it worked. Looks good, nice price, slot-loading.

Cons: A bit loud, silly slim sata cable needed, only lasted about 6 months until it completely died.

Other Thoughts: Only giving this one egg because while it seems like a good drive, and Newegg is awesome as usual, lite-on's support is non-existent. The drive failed after 6 months and came with a one year warranty. I am not exaggerating when I say I have called, emailed, and tried their live-support and the phone was never picked up, emails never replied too, chat support was either not available (even during the advertised hours) and a Technician left the chat saying nothing other than 'How can I help?'

Fairly fed up with it at this point, but there are not many slot loading slim dvd burners on the market.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat drive for the money

Pros: Fast read
Quiet operation
Powerful eject motor

Cons: Trying to stick discs in requires more effort than most slot-loading drives i've had. Almost have to shove it in all the way.
Have to buy a slimline Sata adapter. Seriously?

Other Thoughts: Had to go with this drive for my custom PC in a Mac G4 case...Wanted a slot-loading drive to retain the Mac feel. Drive works great in Snow Leopard, was instantly recognized and reading discs within a minute of first startup.

1 out of 5 eggsDid not last very long

Pros: slot loading, which is a nice effect on a htpc

Cons: Disc got stuck in drive after 10 months of very light use

Other Thoughts: Used the drive maybe once or twice a month in my mythtv box. A disc got stuck in the drive and i had to pull the cover off to get it out. now it will not receive a disk at all.

4 out of 5 eggsGood but check for flexing

Pros: * Small, light, thin
* Relatively quiet IF properly installed
* None of the headaches that a slim IDE drive gave me
* Slot load is a nice touch

Cons: * Case is not very sturdy; watch out that your installation does not flex or bend the case (see below for details)
* Does not come with the appropriate SATA data/power cable, don't forget to buy that separately
*A little more expensive than non-slot-loaders

Other Thoughts: At first I was not very happy with this drive, as DVDs put into it made an incredibly loud noise when spinning. Turns out this was happening because the cage I installed it into was pressing down JUST enough on the top of the drive to flex it down, apparently touching the spinning disc and making the racket. I bent some metal tabs on the cage out of the way and the noise went away. Moral is to check the drive's case VERY closely after your installation: it's easily flexed and you may need to adjust things to keep the disc from scraping

5 out of 5 eggsJust want I needed

Pros: somewhat cheap,
works,
3x of them working just as I was promised,

Cons: You need to buy extra special SATA and Power Cable combo, wish one was included...

Not the fastest....

Kinda Sorta Weak/Breakable... "HULK SMASH!!"

Like a Lower Costing one, lol

Other Thoughts: It works, It has been working, it gets the job done, all 3x of them I am happy about, = 5x star

Not knocking
-speed
-price
-build
-no cables

I figured the product was going to be exactly what it was

3 out of 5 eggsFeels cheap, flimsy.

Pros: Low form-factor, dust brushes on front, disc feed rather than typical tray.

Cons: Feels cheap and fragile, and tends to warp so that the opening is a bit bigger than it should be. This lets in dust, which optical sensors tend to dislike.

Other Thoughts: I ordered two of these systems to accompany mini-ITX media systems. One works perfectly, the other was DOA and doesn't read any discs at all. I suppose that supports my initial impressions about the drive's cheap and flimsy design.

5 out of 5 eggsMine works fine...

Pros: Works fine, best deal on a slim slot-load, fits my Silverstone SG05 perfect, looks good.

Cons: Slot-loads in general seem to be less durable, and cost too much!

Other Thoughts: Happy with it. A regular tray-load model would not eject right in my SG05. Poor fit on the SG05 face plate is to blame. This item fixed that.

1 out of 5 eggsDoes not work

Pros: Better price than most slot loads. Lite-on is normally a good brand.

Cons: Read 2 or 3 DVD, then quit working reliably. Makes very loud clunking noise when accessing drive. Discs make very loud grinding noise when they spin up. I mean LOUD.

Installing Office 2007 from the drive errored out halfway through with the disc being reported unreadable. Strangely, Windows 7 installed fine. Just got a bad drive.

Other Thoughts: Going to return it and get the Sony instead. Hope my experience is not typical. I have owned several full size Lite-on drives and this is my first bad experience with the company.
