1 out of 5 eggsPoor Reliability

Pros: Can burn multiple formats (including CD+G although not listed in manual).

Cons: Very poor longevity. We have two 15 target duplication towers loaded with these drives and had to replace nearly all of them, some with as few as 50 hours on the drive. They also frequently will seem to have burned right to the end and then fail. After analyzing these discs, it reveals that they weren't burned at all inspite of the drive indicator lamp illuminating and flashing as normal when burning a disc.

Other Thoughts: It's predecessor the DVR216 was a much more reliable drive. We have other towers loaded with the DVR216s and I can only recall having one drive having failed in nearly 3 years.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat drive, but watch out for driver issues!

Pros: This drive is very quick, affordable, and has labelflash support. In short, all I was looking for in a drive.

Cons: I don't know about the DOA issue or the drives lifespan just yet, but I ALMOST thought I got a DOA when my drive couldn't finish a burn. About 20 ruined discs later, I discovered this drive HATES the windows 7 AHCI drivers! Don't use the generic microsoft drivers! Use the ones from your manufacturer and it works fine! In my case, all I had to do was go to ASUS's website and get the latest drivers for my intel SATA controller.

Other Thoughts: This should be mentioned in the manual, unfortunately it cost me some 20 labelflash discs before I figured it out... Fortunately they are fairly cheap now.

4 out of 5 eggsWorks great

Pros: Good price, New Egg got it to me fast. Got it for my sons pc, installed it and no problems.

Cons: Has lableflash. I thought it was the same as lightscribe. I was wrong. Pays to know what your getting, lol. Lableflash discs cost more and only come in blue(that's the only color I could find anyway). The next drive I buy will have Lightscribe.

Other Thoughts: none

5 out of 5 eggsHELP

Pros: Nice looking, smooth tray operation.

Cons: I bought this burner to replace my regular CD-ROM drive in my desktop. After installation my computer doesn't recognize it or see it. The tray opens and if I put a disc in I can hear it spin for a few seconds and then nothing. There were no device drivers and when I emailed Pioneer they said there was no Firmware for this product. Any advice would be very appreciated. Thank you.

2 out of 5 eggsDisappointed, Piece of Garbage

Pros: It's black and it matches the front of my case.

Cons: I will disclaim that I have yet to actually burn anything with this DVD burner. I had this lying around for over a month (unfortunately past RMA) when I finally got around to installing it. I have a set of home made DVDs that I'm transferring to the hard drive, but it fails to Read all the way through over 70% of the time. I have to throw it in my Pioneer 216 in another computer and it reads fine, then transfer the files over the network afterward.

Other Thoughts: I normally only buy Pioneer burners for myself, but after this piece of trash, I may try another brand.
