AsusTek's multi-format DVD burner DRW-1814BLT supports all current popular optical drive formats, giving you maximum flexibility in back-up media. LightScribe technology permits burning the label directly onto the media. The SATA interface makes for extremely fast data transfers.

FlextraLink and FlextraSpeed technologies combine to monitor the buffer and the media to deliver the fastest burns possible. FlextraLink's buffer monitoring also prevents buffer underruns and the creation of unusable discs.

The patented Double Dynamic Suspension System II (DDSSII) is designed to minimize spindle vibration and harmonic resonances between components. This makes the drive quieter and also helps to reduce tracking errors.

Pros: Quiet drive, good price for a SATA Burner. Installed as a 2nd drive in Dell 9200 without hickup

Cons: OEM model does not come with SATA cable.

Works great, easy setup

Pros: I purchased the retail version of this burner. Connections were easy (had existing SATA ports and power connectors just waiting for the new drive). Reasonably quiet and plays movies well. Haven't tried the Lightscribe yet, but that was a nice feature that was basically a no cost option.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: Windows XP, so I can't comment on the issues others have had with Vista. The Nero software works fine in XP.

Pros: no problems but I haven't used the light scribe and don't use DVD much, never burned DVD but many CD's.
Quiet.

Pros: looks great affordable easy install

Cons: had problems when reading or installing some CD's or DVD's it would restart computer had to update firmware to get rid of problem works great now

Pros: It came in the color I ordered (black). I have to say it worked…..sometimes.

Cons: It worked sometimes and when it didn't it was a major pain. Since I purchased all the p.c. components separately and was putting the whole machine together by myself, it was hard to diagnose at first. It failed at the most inconvenient times like installing the OS, etc.
Even after downloading updated firmware and making sure all SPs were on my machine, it still failed to work consistently

Other Thoughts: Do yourself a favor and spend five or ten bucks more and get someting that works.
