5 out of 5 eggsgood deal

Pros: good quiet fast drive.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: bought this and an LG. i kinda like the LG better, but no real reason behind it. i just do. i have no problems with this drive and it stands to ASUS's great quality.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks for cheap

Pros: Paid $40 two years ago for a 16X burner from a different brand. Bought this for $24 at 22X. I didn't notice any difference in burning, until i realised i was using 16X DVD's. Oh well. It works, and matches my case.

Cons: Does not cook for me. Does not fetch the mail. Does not cool my system. Does not do my homework. But it does everything else.

Other Thoughts: My build:
EP45-UD3L
e8400 @ 3.6ghz
4gb G-Skill ddr2 800 ram
HIS Radeon HD 4670
Rosewill 500W PSU
Asus 22x DVD burner
Raidmax Smilodon case (the green one)
WD 16MB cache 320GB HD

5 out of 5 eggsIt works

Pros: I can't believe how cheap these things are getting--but I guess blue ray is on the in, and DVD is on the out.

Cons: I bought to quickly, I should have gotten one with LightScibe--they were ~$5 more?

5 out of 5 eggsGood

Pros: Eh, it works fine. Relatively quiet except during obvious times such as data reading where the disc spins to high RPM. Loads files fast enough and DVD's burn faster than my other computer's off brand DVD drive that i bought a couple years ago. Windows 7 files loaded and installed in roughly 10 minutes.

Cons: None that i can think of.

Other Thoughts: Cheapest drive at the time, works well. Got a pair for my new build of 940/M4A79

5 out of 5 eggsNo problems

Pros: The drive is fairly cheap, and it matches my computer case (black). It seems to work fast enough, though I don't have a lot of experience with DVD ripping/burning.

Cons: None

3 out of 5 eggsIt's ok

Pros: It was the cheapest in cost cd/dvd-rw drive at the time. Its mostly quiet.

Cons: Disk tray seems really flimsy. Tray kinda studders opening and closing. Seeking seems slower on this drive than another brand i usually use.

Other Thoughts: As long as it works that all i care, it was for a cheap build for my dad.. Next time i'll spend the 3 bucks or so more and get a brand I use more often.

2 out of 5 eggseh

Pros: its an optical drive, and it works

Cons: it came opened - probaby an rma that newegg decided to redirect to me. something is rattling around inside of it, the tray is about as flimsy as is possible - all in all, this is a peice

Other Thoughts: bought for a media center with budget in mind. got my moneys worth i would say, but i still expected it to be new, and certainly expected better from asus as every other product ive gotten from them, budget or otherwise, has been quality
nonetheless, id recommend this for casual use, afterall its an optical drive and is headed on the road to destruction the moment its loaded - if you want a robust burner and want to see it endure indefinately then youre probably not even on this page - ive had an asus lightscribe drive for a couple years now with not one issue and it was $30-40 when i got it
