LG Dual layer DVD Burner
- Pros: 100% Burn rate so far. Price. Has activity LED. Win XP plug-n-play found it and installed it right away. Cable select jumper position worked fine.
- Cons: OEM so no documentation or drivers but none were needed.
- Other Thoughts: I bought a dual layer DVD burner layer last year and was getting a 50% coaster rate even at low speed. No improvement after installing faster SATA hard drives, so I bought the LG burner based on good reviews here. So far I've burned 10 dual layer DVD's with no coasters.
Good Drive, Finally
- Pros: Good burner for the price. Have done both CDs and DVDs and no coasters yet.
- Cons: First one was DOA. Would not read CDs or DVDs. Sent it back with RMA. Newegg sent another in about a week.
- Other Thoughts: I have found it does not always play well with other burners. Had some problems with speed, both reading and burning. Cured it by putting it on its own IDE ribbon connection as master.
