Pros: Looks good, has nice HP logo on it, thats about it.

Cons: Opening and closing this drive sounds like its from the 1980's when they first came out with optical drives. Never worked out of the box; would just sit there and try to spin up the disk and couldn't get going. What a heap of useless plastic and metal.

Other Thoughts: Give $5 more and get real brands like ASUS or Pioneer

Horrible Experience

Pros: Sure, it will work one time and then will die out. I have it right here!

Cons: This thing failed after just writing 9 DVD's and boom......died out. It's horrible. I have never been through this before with an HP DVD1035. I have been a prevoius owner of 3 HP DVD Writers and 1035 seems to have a huge problem. This thing won't read not one darn DVD! It won't read anything (!) except for CD-R's. I tried everything you can imagine. In fact, I have been working at this problem for the past 7 1/2 hours and still nothing!!!!!!!!!!!!! This monster is going in the box and back to the warehouse where it came from at the speed of light !!!!!!!!!!!!!! GRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!! It's a Saturday and I cannot do a darn thing about it until Monday morning!!!!!!!!!!!!!! GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WHAT A HEADACHE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Other Thoughts: Trust me, you don't what to know what else I think about this thing without having a hammer present. It's a good thing it's locked away in the closet.

won't write -(minus) double layer

Pros: cheap -usable as basic drive only as long as you
don't need double layer -(minus) disks (check specs)
not a problem if you don't use double layer disks

Cons: Will not write DVD-DL's !! Only DVD+DL's !!!
Many new home DVD players are DVD-(minus)DL only - this unit only writes +(plus) double layer disks. Won't work if you need to make double layer disks for your new home player.
