Pros: Right color

Cons: Bought it in June 2009, died November 2011 after moderate use here and there.

Pros: cheap?

Cons: I haven't tried burning anything, but when I insert a movie it plays a bunch of gobbledygook squares like it can't read the disc even tho my 2 other drives read it fine.

Pros: Good price for a "Name Brand" DVD writer.

Cons: Zip

Pros: this is a very nice drive! i come from the old IDE ribbon cd/dvd combo drives so this is a nice upgrade. not having that nasty IDE in my case is amazing! if you need a good COMBO drive from a respected company here you are. BUY IT. also i didnt install any of the discs that come with it. the firmware seems to be working just fine. have installed my OS all drivers and all my games with no problems :)

this is an amazing drive! no the fastest but for the money the best i have seen that is a RETAIL buy

Other Thoughts: this drive is poorly labeled. it doesnt show it being a CD/DVD COMBO drive. it in fact is. it only shows the DVD read and write speeds. initially that scared my when i was looking at it this drive, but i took the risk and bought it anyway. it does everything you need

Pros: Works.

Cons: Weak documentation on specs - does not mention supporting DVD-R (or much of anything except DVD+R). Even the front faceplate of the drive only mentions DVD+R.

Other Thoughts: I've confirmed through testing that this drives DOES support DVD-R media, not just DVD+R. It also does DVD-RAM and MRW formats.

Pros: Cheap, looks good

Cons: Only writes DVD+R format. I unfortunately didn't know this until after I received the five I ordered and tried to use them.

Other Thoughts: Who the heck makes a DVD burner these days that doesn't burn all the major formats? I guess HP...

Pros: Easy installation, runs very fast, supports many disk formats.

Cons: Loud, included software contains alot of bloatware.

Other Thoughts: The software that comes with this drive (Nero) is about 95% bloatware. In addition to just a utility that burns disks, it comes with a desktop search engine, various media players, and a lightscribe utility (even though this drive can't do lightscribe). You can choose not to install many of these programs, but that is a huge list to go though, and some of the features (including the desktop search engine) you can't choose to not install.

Otherwise, this drive works great. It is a little loud while burning, but it's not too intolerable. It is actually one of the fastest DVD Writers I have ever used. Just don't install the included software, and you'll have a wonderful drive.

Pros: Works, comes with SATA cable and free software.

Cons: It's loud (loudest drive I have ever owned)
