Pros: Inexpensive

Cons: Lasted 2.5 years

Pros: burns things fast, does dual-layers, basically offers everything the average user would ever ask for.

Cons: no lightscribe

Other Thoughts: I had issues with burning errors, having the burner cut out halfway through and then stop being recognizable by the computer. also following these episodes it would refuse to recognize discs i inserted... however i did not put this in the CONS box because frankly i'm really not sure if it was the burner's fault or not, as I was dealing with a VERY faulty and finicky motherboard at the time - with that said, DONT USE MSI. even though that's not quite relevant to this review.

Pros: When it worked, it worked

Cons: It has been a little flaky recognizing blank disks over the years, but it would usually eventually work. Now it dies after writing 20% of a music CD and eventually can't recognize a disk at all.

While it is true this might be a cleaning issue, but I've owned other drives longer and never needed to clean them. I also haven't used this drive very heavily compared to older drives.

Pros: It works as advertised initially. Read/write was fast. It is quieter than I expected.

Cons: Started to give read errors after 6 months with infrequent use. And I need a replacement again. It is not reliable. I'm not sure the warranty situation, either.

Other Thoughts: I have always used Sony Optiarc burners. This is the first time that I tried a different brand. And I am rather disappointed. Will go back to use Optiarc again.

Pros: It is quiet and fast.

Cons: None yet.

Other Thoughts: I have only needed it to install the OS, backups, and some drivers. We'll say how operates after a year.

Pros: I don't use it all that much, except when I was installing Windows when I first got the pc. It works perfectly though
