Pros: Nothing wrong with the quality of the drive. Produces excellent burns on all the media I've thrown at it; Taiyo Yuden DVD+R/CD-R, Verbatim DVD+R DL (MKM-001), even acceptable burns on crummy Memorex DVD+R/DL.

Cons: I've been a loyal Plextor customer as I've always felt they produced some of the best optical drives around. However, given my previous experience with Plextor quality I didn't really bother to do alot of research on this drive. If I had, I would have purchased a Lite-On IHAS-524B as it's the exact same drive, Plextor simply re-badged it and doubled the asking price.

Other Thoughts: Seems as though Plextor stopped manufacturing their own drives some years ago, and now simply re-badge Lite-On drives and some Pioneer drivers for their BR Burners. So this will most likely be the last Plextor optical drive I purchase as there's no sense paying a premium for simply slapping the Plextor name on the drive.

Pros: fast,fast, and did I say fast.Quiet,if you want the best for a few dollars more,this is it.

Other Thoughts: I always buy Plextor DVD Dirves for all my builds and have never been disappointed. Plextor has been making these drives for years and are the best on the market in my opinion! They are fast, quiet, and always reliable! I highly recommend Plextor Drives!

Pros: Very quiet, tray load/unload is fast. Comes with a nice long SATA cable.

Cons: The blindingly bright blue activity LED is a little over the top, but a small piece of electrical tape will fix it.

Pros: Everything works as it is supposed to. This drive is much faster and quieter than my old generic DVD burner. The PlexUtilities (downloaded from the Plextor site) provide a powerful set of performance and diagnostic tools.

Cons: The price is a little more than other burners, but I won't let a few dollars keep me from buying the best product.

Other Thoughts: I wish Plextor made more parts for my computer builds. I have become a major fan of their quality products.

Pros: My first Plextor drive, I wanted to see if the hype was worth it. It is indeed a quality constructed drive and nice and quiet to boot. Time will tell if it can stand up to a 6 year old.

Cons: $20 more than similar drives. Not sure if that's worth a slightly quieter drive.

Pros: I actually do not own one of these drives. But I DO own a Plextor CD-Writer that I have been using for almost 12 years now and it has never let me down.

If this drive is made by the same company that made my CD-Writer, they won't sell to many of them because they never wear out. :)

You pay more for a Plextor drive, but I have gotten my money out of my drive a great many times.

Cons: Never wears out so I don't ever get the satisfaction of that new drive smell. :)

Other Thoughts: I have seen drives in new computers that only last a few years. My Plextor drive gets changed out into whatever build I am doing to upgrade. It just keeps on chugging along. A friend offered me $50 for it a couple of years ago and I turned her down. I have made thousands of CDs with my writer and can honestly say I can not remember ever making a coaster. Its the best piece of computer equipment I have ever owned.

Pros: This drive will record just about any brand of lightscribe disk that I throw in it. My previous Sony drive would only record plain dvd's and they had to be a name brand like Memorex.

I've even scrounged some disks out of my trash that I thought the old drive had ruined and the Plextor was able to record and verify them with no problem.

I typically use Img-Burn, an open source software but also have a Roxio product as well. Neither were capable of burning some of the cheaper DVD disks in the old drive but now they can with this drive.

Cons: None so far. I realize that under $40 for a DVD burner is not asking much but hopefully it will last longer than the $20 Sony's.

Pros: When it works it does a very good job at creating the labels and the price is very good. Installation was easy and the drive was up and running in minutes.

Cons: Using this as a statistical sampling the drives are good only 50% of the time. I ordered two drives and one of them is just fine, the other which has been tried in two machines cannot burn a useable label.

Pros: Worked right out of the box. I've been using Plextor in my personal rigs and in premium customer builds for a quite a few years. Never had a problem so I don't mind paying a little more. Plextor utilities are a nice extra.
