3 out of 5 eggsGood, but limited lifespan

Pros: Great printer at a low cost. Very small and quiet, starts up quick.

Cons: After 18 months the printer died, no warning, no indications there was trouble. Cartridge cost is almost as much as the printer, be warned that the cartridge that ships with the printer is not a full sized cartridge, just enough to get you started.

Pros: there are no pros for me

Cons: Cannot print more than two envelopes at a time without the address smearing. Samsung tech support was no help. 5 weeks after purchase every second page jams.

Other Thoughts: This is a piece of junk plain and simple. Vewry disappointed and will NOT buy samsung again

1 out of 5 eggsAvoid this printer....SERIOUSLY

Pros: None

Cons: 3 months after buying it the printer would not feed paper. Rollers wear out very quickly. Sent to warranty repair twice and same issue and this printer has less then 3k pages through it (still on original toner). This was a gift to someone and now I totally regret the "so called" deal I got.

Other Thoughts: Samsung has a lot of nerve marketing a product like this. This has got to be the worst printer I have ever purchased.

1 out of 5 eggsDo not buy this printer!!

Pros: Originally it was the price and features....BUT (read below)

Cons: Nothing but problems with paper feeding in this printer. Has been sent to repair twice with no resolution. It works for a few days then starts up not pulling paper and I'm not the only one complaining about it. THIS PRINTER IS HORRIBLE DO NOT BUY!

2 out of 5 eggsJam-o-matic

Pros: When it prints the pages look nice, about as good as you would expect from a laser in this price range. Print speed is decent and the network capability is very handy.

Cons: I've had this printer for a year and a half. After six months of use, it started jamming on nearly every page FOR NO REASON! I'm using quality paper and it continually gives me paper jam error messages even when there's no jam. All I need to do to fix it is open the paper tray and reset the papers, but when you need to do that for every page on a ten page print job it gets old REAL fast. On top of that Samsung tried to deny me the rebate claiming it was purchased outside the offer period, even though the receipt was dated two days before it ended. They paid after I called and sent the form back in, but that should have never been necessary. I would not recommend this printer to anyone.

3 out of 5 eggsGood printer with bad service/support

Pros: Network printer with cheap price. Easy set up.

Cons: Instructions not useful and even misleading. Customer service not helpful.

Other Thoughts: I have several computers at my home. While others print well, one computer (WinXP) could not. The error message tells me to plug the printer into network, but since other computers print well, this is certainly a misleading. I guessed it should be a firewall issue.

I then called Samsung at 1-800-samsung, but the guy over there only kept saying this was not their printer problem, and I had to contact my firewall software provider and they will walk me through what ports are using the printer. This was not useful at all.

I use ZoneLab as my firewall tool and I then compared the Firewall Program control parts of two computers, where one works and another one doesn't in printing. When I enabled both 'SPanel' and 'Spooler Subsystem' for trusted network, it printed!

I hope this solution is helpful to someone who has the same problem by the same or similar reason.

5 out of 5 eggsOperates Perfectly with Linux & XP

Pros: The printer works perfectly with Linux, and wndows.

Cons: Supplied Samsung documentation is worthless, There are two booklets, one describes how to put in the toner cartridge but for a slightly different printer model, the second is some vague booklet somewhat describing the steps below but less coherently.

5 out of 5 eggsGood Printer

Pros: This has been a good solid printer. Have owned it for a few years now and it's still working good. People complaining about the toner cartridge's being expensive??? I get roughly 3000 pages out of a cartridge (first cart. was significantly less) for no more that $50.00, sometimes better deals (3x for $84.00) that's less that $.02 per print...is there a cheaper to own laser printer?? Wasn't too loud for our small office when new. Hook up was simple...software took care of all the configuration, just plugged in the Ethernet cable and a few keystrokes later it was a done deal! oh and the best pro...buying from Newegg!!

Cons: There have been a few paper jams but not many (no more than any other printer I've owned) after about a year it started making a awful racket while printing but has printed like that for over a year so as long as it's not broke I'm not going to fix it!

Other Thoughts: This has been hands down the best printer I have owned. I have a small construction company and have gone through several inkjet printers most within a year or 1 1/2 years. this has reached the 2 year mark and has been the cheapest to own. When it dies I'm going to replace it with the same printer...might even buy 2!

5 out of 5 eggsVery nice printer

Pros: Fast inexpensive DHCP enabled PostScript network printer

Cons: Comes with starter toner cartridge.
Expensive cartridges relative to the price of the printer.

Other Thoughts: I plugged this printer in, powered it up, asked my DHCP server what the address was and printed a test page using the web interface. From delivery to print in 20 minutes. The provided network manual is of limited use and the MAC address is not on the printer but since DHCP works fine those are minor issues. This printer is much noisier than my old HP-1100 so I wouldn't want to sit next to while printing but it's not that bad.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Network Printer

Pros: This is a great network printer. It can sit anywhere there is a wired Ethernet cable or outlet. It sits in power-saver mode, absolutely quiet, until a print job comes in over the network. The networking software installs three different printers (Postscript, PCL, and Samsung proprietary). Prints at 1200 dpi. Have had zero problems with light use. Just assign it a fixed IP address and you're good to go.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: Am a relatively light user in a home environment with six computers. It's nice not having to have a printer tied to a workstation that has to be on in order for others to print.
