3 out of 5 eggsSome flaws, but usable

Pros: Pros:
Color laser
Duplex printing
Network capable
Scan to email

Cons: Cons:
Inside of glass gets dirty
No duplexing sheet feeder
Photo printing is so-so

Other Thoughts: I've had this product for over a year. Overall, I'm satisfied with it. Two problems would prevent me from replacing with the exact same model.

1) Photo printing is not as good as I'd like. Perhaps this is comparing apples and oranges, but at work we have a color laser that prints perfect photos on regular paper. Admittedly, it probably cost much more than the Samsung. But photo printing is one of the reasons I purchased a color laser.

2) The inside of the scanner glass has some sort of fogging-like residue. I have seen online the questions of several other people asking about how to clean this. There appears to be some sort of material that's causing the glass to get "smudgy". It's not incapacitating, but scans of photos have to be adjusted in Photoshop to compensate.

Finally, online service by Samsung is virtually non-existent. You can post to their forum, but don't expect a response. I have not yet tried their phone service, so I can't comment on that.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat printer!

Pros: Great printer/scanner. I LOVE the scan to email. We use a email based fax service so I have the scan to email setup to sent Printing quality is very good. Toners seem to last a long time. The Scanner is GREAT.

We have 3. One was a lemon and shortly after getting it we started to have problem. I called Samsung and they sent new parts and a tech out. That didnt fix the problem so they replaced the unit. They even let me keep the consumables from the new unit!

Cons: None so far.

Other Thoughts: Well built unit. Great features. Great scanner and printer.

5 out of 5 eggsBest printer we've ever owned!

Pros: Fast printing, good quality, highly reliable.

Cons: None so far.

Other Thoughts: In a day and age of throw-away printers, this will be one that you keep. We replace our printer yearly and this will be the first printer in 6 years that we decide to keep. Everything about this is quality. Good job Samsung!

5 out of 5 eggsPrinter Can Do Everything Except Walk On Water!!

Pros: Great output quality!!!! Print out the demo sheet and you'll see what I mean! Network printing from all my and my wife's computers is completely great. The cats love it too! They'll run to it and watch it as it prints. But seriously, anyone who needs a great network duplex color laser printer/duplex scanner/fax/copier/copies to Flash drive (Fat32 :( only). The power consumption when in power save mode is almost unintelligible. It's definitely a find! I work in IT and I have worked with some horrible hi-cap printers but if this printer is any indication of Samsung's line of printers then I think our company is going to make a few purchases. Scanning through the network is great especially the duplex feature. Throw pages in, digital out. Specifications are best looked at from the manu. website. Can handle a TON of different media Out of the Box!!! Tray feed can handle up to 28lb. paper and the multi-feed handles everything to glossy photo paper. (Haven't tried that yet)

Cons: Bulky and needs a substantial table to support the weight. Built a quick table out of some MDF, wood screws, and 2x4's. (To be expected with a printer of this caliber)

Other Thoughts: Owned a CLP-315 for about 2 years prior to this printer the only thing wrong with that is it didn't do auto duplex in color or B&W. In all honesty, a lot of what the other reviews said about the bleeding text (sorry) can be fixed by playing with the scan settings. Like anything, the settings have to be played with and tuned to your liking. Out of the box perfection is rare and doesn't necessarily denote the inherent quality. Plus, I first noticed the bleeding with cheaper stock say... 20lb. 92%White copier paper. Spend a little more on your paper stock and you'll notice a difference in the printer and the documents. Prints on a multitude of different paper and card stock. You can't beat it! Well, maybe you can but this is such a steal comparatively. Got this on a shell shocker deal. I WAS SHOCKED!!! For about $(e^6.10923) you can do the math and can't go wrong!!!!! If you see it for that... pick it up!

5 out of 5 eggsNice All in One

Pros: Has a fast warm up to print. The color output laser is great. It has everything I could use. It's great for the home office.

Cons: The software locks up on my computer once in a while. It could be something else, so not totally sure what causes it.

Other Thoughts: I'm really happy overall with this purchase. This is my second Samsung printer and the one before lasted. Overall I'd give it an A+.

5 out of 5 eggsOutstanding Value, Linux-compatible!

Pros: * Supports Linux for scanning and printing and works well up to 300dpi (see cons)
* Fax-to-email functionality works really great
* Print speed is very good for an all-in-one printer at this price
* Printing to fax works flawlessly from Windows
* Selected document types can be uploaded and printed through the printer's built-in web server
* The unit supports several user authentication/security architectures
* Scanning to email and scanning to SMB works flawlessly
* Scan quality of actual output files (tiff, jpeg, pdf) is very good (see cons)

Cons: * Does not support faxing from Linux
* Construction is somewhat flimsy for a business printer with an MSRP of $999.99. However, construction quality is in line with Newegg's actual selling price.
* Scan quality looks HORRIBLE in Samsung-supplied print utilities in both Linux and Windows, but the actual output files are flawless (aside from dust - see below)
* The user interface on the front panel can be confusing to the computer illiterate; scanning to email can be daunting with the minimal display
* Dust: The unit came with dust on the inside. I need to disassemble the unit to clean the underside of the platen.
* Speaker does not have a volume control
* SCANNING FROM LINUX: scanning from Linux works flawlessly up to 300dpi; selecting 600dpi results in errors

Other Thoughts: This printer is fantastic for the price! I ordered it for home use and had been researching current all-in-one units for a few weeks before purchase. It just so happened that on the day I decided to purchase I noticed Newegg's special on the CLX-6220FX. Score!

Print quality without calibration is not as good as the printer it replaced, but is surprisingly good nonetheless. So far I have not seen a need to calibrate it as most would not look at a photo printout and say "hey it's not calibrated"

I chose this unit over Company X's offerings costing much more due solely to Company X USA division's decision to not offer Linux drivers, despite other Company X regions offering the drivers. I was willing to pay over twice the price of this unit, but none of the other good quality units I researched within my desired budget offered solid Linux support. If you run Linux this scanner/printer is the one!

Note: I have not tested this with my Macs so I cannot comment on OS X yet.

4 out of 5 eggsNot bad

Pros: Quality of print is outstanding. I haven't done color calibrations and tested the output, but graphic quality is also very good.

Warms up pretty quickly to print (not as fast as brother), isn't too noisy when printing and goes to sleep quickly at which point it is silent.

Cons: Not great for macs. I have 10.6 desktops and servers. Printing seems to work fine. Scanning to smb also works well. However when scanning from the mac desktop the file sizes are always huge and much larger than they should be (or are for the same scan from a windows desktop). I can only assume the drivers are always scanning with true color (24 bit per pixel) and displaying as B&W or not reducing the file size. A B&W 200 dpi 8.5x11 standard letter page is over 1MB! From windows it is the right size ~38kB. When scanning from a mac you also get artifacts from the page. Eg. the white page shows up as slightly grey and if the document is double sided, text from the other side is apparent. Seems like another driver issue since the problem is not nearly as bad from windows.

Print speed also seems a little disappointing. I don't think I'm approaching 25ppm; seems to be more like 10 but I haven't timed it.

Other Thoughts: This is a pretty big printer. You wouldn't want it on your desk. If I had to do it again, I'd probably get the brother mfc 9840cdw just because it seems to work better with OS X 10.6. I bought this because of complaints against the 9840 destroying envelopes and being noisy.
