It states that it makes 2-sided copies automatically.  I assume that it can make one sided copes too and that you can turn the 2-sided feature off?

Yes.  When you go to print, it gives you the option of two sided copies or just one side.  You select what you want.  I usually use the one sided copy but to save postage, I sometimes send two sided copies to save on the postage.

Does this printer come with two paper trays?

It has one 500 sheet capacity tray that pulls out of the bottom, which is labeled as Tray 2.  Tray 1 is the flip down front door multipurpose tray that you can use to feed envelopes, card stock, letterhead, etc.

They sell an additional real 500 sheet tray that you can add to the bottom of the printer but it only comes with one.

The #ABA is an option code that means "North America".  HP uses this option code to specify which region the product will be sold to.  For example, the power cord, user documentation, quick setup guide, would be customized for North America.
 
Different option codes would be used for Spain or England, for example, since they are configured for a different part of the world

what's the difference between the p3015dn you have for 700 and the one for 500?

when I looked at them, a year ago, the difference were in print speed.  I ended up getting the cheeper one and had to install added memory to handle reasonable sized documents, > 30 pages.
