You love listening to your sound on headphones, and you've got some good high-impedance units to listen with. But most computer sound boards are low-impedance outputs, aren't they?
HT Omega has created a sound board that lets you set the output impedance via jumpers all the way up to 600 ohms. Of course, that wouldn't do you much good if the sound didn't match it. How does 24 bit sound and 192 kHz sample rate sound to you? Hardware decoding of Dolby Digital Live, DTS Interactive and others takes a load off your cpu. It also functions as a MIDI controller to your MIDI setup. Optical SPDIF input and optical SPDIF output, as well as regular Line In, Microphone In, and CD/Auxiliary In, with standard RCA connectors for output to an amplifier or receiver.
As always, look around and decide for yourself, but if you'll pardon the pun, it sounds pretty good to me.
Pros: Pretty good built-in Headphone amp Connections for almost every setup you might have Solid drivers for most any OS Tech Support that knows what "customer service" means Holds UnCreative Labs' feet to the fire
Cons: If you're not the owner of some good ( read $$ ) headphones, you probably won't notice much beyond a smooth, very capable card.
Other Thoughts: Kicks the daylights out of ANY UNCreative card out there, and for that fact alone, I'm in. I'm not a gamer, just a guy with tons of music in lossless formats, and this baby has been a godsend. If you have sounds from great sources, you will love this card. If you have less-than-great source material, then the flaws will be front and center. You may never like your MP3s again...

Pros: Wow so this is what i have been missing!!!! This card has made me want to replace most of my collection of music with Mobile Fidelity releases.
Excellent clean/clear sound for music and games plus swappable op-amps!
Cons: None really unless you like to listen to mp3's or anything with a low bit rate. This card doesn't do anything to 'fix' them.
PCI only but you shouldn't have an issue finding a MB that has a PCI slot.
Other Thoughts: Just a warning!! This card will make bad recordings sound bad! You'll notice just about every aspect of a recording so replace your cd's and mp3's with mobile fidelity releases! You know the gold CDs and get a pair of studio quality headphones like the AKG 240.

Pros: a soft and warm sound. def rich and quite crisp. very satisfied with the construction, package and accessories... overall a very good sound quality.
Cons: sometimes a popping sound when i open programs, not a big con but driver was 32bit only... a bit expensive
Other Thoughts: have used vinyl disks on akai player and amp, tehnics systems and onbord audio on pcs. use the card for playback only... have a pair of higher quality speakers and if you use onboard audio the first time you use this card will be unforgettable - enjoy! haven t try the equalizer or any effects BUY IT

Pros: Sounds absolutely amazing. Very clear sound. Honestly if this is what I was looking for, I'd love it.
Cons: Won't convert a dolby signal to analog out. (legal issue. accursed copyright laws!). If it senses dolby or dts at all from the optical in, it will shut off all analog outputs. It will only let you convert unsigned 2 channel PCM to regular old stereo. Very nice stereo, but still stereo.
Spdif in is EXTREMELY LOUD and can not be adjusted, you have to adjust everything else around it.
Line in is extremely quiet.
Other Thoughts: A good card if you use nothing BUT your PC for home theater. You can't really do anything but get a spdif in and send it right back out (pointless) unless what you're playing originates on the PC you're using it on. Great for blu-ray drive owners or music afficianados though.
Unfortunately for my purposes, being a console/pc gamer looking for a quick and easy surround sound solution for existing systems, it's absolutely terrible. Inconsistencies in the input sensitivity and restrictions on where and how I can output really kill it for me. For $250 I expected a bit more versatility.

Pros: Had the best sound I've ever heard from a computer! Made my Sennheiser 555 and 280 pros sound great with deep bass. Customer service always got back immediately. I'd give it 5 eggs for how it sounds!
Cons: I was running the C word companys x fi card and actually had no crashes and I really dont like their buggy and bloated products. When I installed this card, I got at least 4 crashes a day that ended when I took this card out. I reinstalled the software, used the current drivers, ran driver cleaner pro, reseated the card. Nothing helped.
Other Thoughts: Got it for Christmas and only had a week left to return it for a refund after trying it out almost 2 weeks. I'm sure the company would have done everything to make it work for me, but I didn't want to take any chances getting stuck with a card that's this expensive and have it not work for me. I might consider their Striker card because their products sound so good and have awesome customer service. I wish Newegg had a longer holiday return policy too.
