Quality Pics, Fast
- Pros: Actually, it does not take 1-2 seconds for the camera to be ready to take a picture. If you press the shutter release as you turn the camera on, it will take a picture instantly. Otherwise, the camera performs an integrated sensor cleaning / dust removal process.
- Cons: 1) Haven't figured out how to turn off the LCD. This may not even be possible, and it hurts when taking photos in the dark.
2) The minimum photo size is still too big for some photo needs.
- Other Thoughts: VR works great. I already knew that it can quadruple the permitted exposure lengths, from 1/30th to 1/8th of a second, for example. However, I wasn't sure if VR could still quadruple my exposure lengths if I was already able to hand-hold at 1/8th of a second or slower. I simply didn't know how long it could continue to compensate for camera motion.
But last night I hand-held a photo with the kit lens at 1.6 seconds with VR active. The photo was so sharp that one could see stars in the picture. I am extremely pleased that VR seems to work even better when the photographer is already skilled at hand-holding for long shutter speeds.
Great Camera for the Price
- Pros: We bought this camera, twice in fact looking for the best deal. I bought it for my girlfriend because her old kodak easyshare camera didn't take nearly the quality of pictures she was looking for. This was by far our best choice for the money. Her mother has a D40 but the VR lense and the added bonuses on the D60 were well worth it. If we had the money we would have went with the Canon XSi but for the money this is absolutely the best choice and she is very happy.
- Cons: We bought it at Wolf Camera first and spent 751 with no warranty (it would have been about a hundred a year for 3 years total was over $1000) Then we returned it and bought from Best Buy because we could get a warranty for 4 years for only 100 dollars extra. Now we found it on Newegg for 100 dollars less including the 3 year accidental warranty. I am kicking myself. I'd return the camera but theres a 15% restocking fee at best buy :(
- Other Thoughts: This is her first DSLR camera and she is going ballistic with it. We spent the weekend walking through gardens and parks so she could take pictures of everything. She now wants a zoom lense for it. Also, buy a case for it if you can, you'll need to to carry all the lense caps and cleaning stuff, or else the picture taker will always need a spare set of hands to hold things :o

Great DSLR Camera with perfect delievery service from New Egg
- Pros: Perfect camera for those pursuing professional photography.
- Cons: As such no cons have been till now.
- Other Thoughts: The service from New egg is excellent. The description section helps me to get an idea of the camera features.
Great DSLR Starter
- Pros: First time owner of a dlsr camera and I am loving it. Takes amazing pictures and is pretty light and compact to take on trips. It has tons of different settings to adjust so I will be busy for a while trying to figure out which settings are best for each situation.
- Cons: No auto bracketing for taking hdr images, but you can do it manually so not a big deal. Neck strap is a little difficult to get through the holes.
- Other Thoughts: If you are into taking hdr images this camera does an amazing job. If you have photoshop I would suggest getting topaz to create your hdr images.
satisfied with my Nikon D60
- Pros: This is my first Digital SLR and i'm truly happy with it, takes amazing quality pictures. Thanks newegg for a fast delivered
- Cons: none
