1 out of 5 eggsOff to a bad start

Pros: Controls appear be well thought out, finish seems nice.

Other Thoughts: I cannot for the life of me figure out why there was not mention of the critical fact that the camera will not function without the memory card! Someone needs to apply a bit more thought and intelligence to the product listings, especially a relatively expensive camera such as this.

5 out of 5 eggsTHE Perfect Camera

Pros: This camera has nearly everything on it that 95% of people would EVER need.
Maybe if I were a professional photographer i MIGHT would get a higher end camera with a full frame sensor, but I don't think anyone can tell the difference anyway (I can't)

Cons: ummmmmmmmmmmmmmmm................................................................................

Other people get intimidated when you ask them to take a picture of you. It's STILL a camera, nothing that foreign about it.

So many people are like "Oh man, I don't know how to use your camera, man" JUST LOOK THRU THE VIEWFINDER AND SNAP THE PICTURE!!!! "What's a viewfinder?"

Other Thoughts: I will be getting a 50mm lens very soon and I think that will make me like it just THAT much more.

5 out of 5 eggsLove it!

Pros: Full featured, focus motor in camera, low noise to high ISO ratio, and solidly built. This is a great camera.

Cons: None so far.

Other Thoughts: The replacement for the D90 is coming out soon but even if all the rumors are true, it would not tempt me to replace my camera. The price is supposed to be about $300 more than the retail of the D90 and I don't see much of an improvement. Don't let the 12.3MP pull you away. You will not need anymore and the higher MP count on the CMOS sensors cause more noise for almost no increased value in the camera. Just an all around GREAT camera. Would buy again in a heartbeat!!

5 out of 5 eggsPretty empowering camera

Pros: Lots of photo capabilities, great sensor, iso 3200 very sensitive and great. Some noise noticeable in long duration night shots. Great options and great accessories available for real creativity.

Nice metering modes, focusing modes. Great night shots, sceneries etc. Can select focus point, and lock it. Increase or decrease flash level. Do bracketing exposure. One Fn switch for custom function assignment. Good lens in kit 18mm to 105mm. Sunshade/hood included.

A few in-camera editing and effects options. Slideshow and pictbridge. HDMI out. Can connect wireless flashes etc. Has many flash capabilities. (don't know if wireless capability is built in or not).

Warranty on Lens is good from Nikon check on web for exact duration (i forget).

Cons: There is a learning curve. To get to taking great photos. Playing with the focusing ring while off generates and F----- error and playing with the zoom while off gives a E-CHG or something error. For remdying both have to remove lens and reattach otherwise the camera is locked. Remote is optional and only activates shutter, can't use when connected to TV via HDMI to view photos manually.

Other Thoughts: I started my search during christmas sales, researched, read reviews, consulted the sony, canon and other nikon manuals on the web. Between the D5000 and D90, decided on the latter. More pro feel and customizable options- 42 (D90) : 21 (D5000). Love the little screen on top and dual dials to change settings, instead of going through menus. The D5000 has more built in screen modes (19), the D90 has like 5 or so, but that is fine. Lighting is a big thing, must know white balancing to a bit if doing manual M or manual WB in P mode shots. Compared the sensor specs to many 15MP and 18MP cameras. This 12MP kept winning. Initial photos were a bit flat. Increased saturation a bit. You can increase saturation, Hue, contrast etc. and save your custom settings. Do read the manual, it is extremely useful. After searching amaz+n webs1te found this to be an iconic camera. With lots of books from The Pros on using the D90. Must have a good monitor to view photos on.

Register on Nikon immediately.

5 out of 5 eggsD90 is amazing

Pros: Bought this camera to take on vacation in southwest. The 18MM-105MM good for most shots. Refresh rate between shots is very good so you miss very few photo opportunities. You can set shutter speed to 1/2000 and take pictures out of your car windows straight to the side with little or no blur. High ISO and still excellent shots. Uses SDHC memory. Battery lasts long time. Int. flash unit nice as well. Seeing through the viewfinder is prefered to seeing on the lcd, which often washes out in the sunlight. Viewfinders in small pocket cameras are so small it is hard to tell what you have.

Cons: A little heavy. Pricey, but it does take HD Video. Do not expect to put this in your pocket.

Other Thoughts: Bought the additional lense 55-200. Great for shots requiring additional zoom in. Not as heavy as standard lense. If you shoot a lot of pictures or pictures of children, who move constantly, this will capture images very quickly so you can get the "money shots". My wife picked it up and learned how to use it in no time at all. If you have had a film SLR in the past, and miss those days, take a look at this camera.
