5 out of 5 eggsI forgot to Add

Pros: See prior feedback

Cons: For some reason Nikon didn't put threads for filters on the lens...I fail to understand that since the use of filters is highly desireable! (even if one is just used to protect the lens front glass) :o(
Also it doesn't have a hot shoe...having one would be a tremendous advantage.

Other Thoughts: Regardless...it's still a great "bridge" camera and I really can't complain since the price is under $500!!!!!

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent so far!!!!

Pros: Solid build...excellent ergonomics...great picture quality! I love the articulating LCD screen and with the addition of a Delkin pop-up shade and screen protector, it is a complete still/video camera package. Typical Nikon's superior quality is evident and the price is more than reasonable. Having the same CMOS back-side illumination sensor as their higher priced, true DSLR's is a real plus!!!!
It's a shame they don't allow uploading of still pics as I would have you take a look at the shot of the moon I did this evening at it's 36X zoom (over 800mm) lens. Not bad for the first try...just needs a little tweaking and more practice with it. (Craters on the moon are highly visible and sharply focused)

Cons: Uses LiIon batteries...I hate having to use proprietary batteries but the camera quality overshadows that so I can live with it.

Other Thoughts: Purchased a FujiFilm S3400 (refurbished) and after having it replaced twice because of defects, NewEgg agreed to refund the money so I could buy a higher end digital camera from them. The Nikon P500 has performed flawlessly so far although I am just beginning to explore it's features

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome Camera

Pros: This camera takes some of the nicest pictures that I have ever shot. It is reasonably easy to use (If you read the manual). Battery life seems pretty good, I bought spare batteries and an external charger, and do not regret it.
The HD videos are great, no need for a camcorder!
Just get a class 10 SD card. NewEgg's price is good for this model.

Cons: None really, I did find it difficult to get certain shots before I read the manual and understood everything, but that is not manufacturers fault.

Other Thoughts: Read the manual (The whole manual), buy an extra battery and external charger.

5 out of 5 eggsBest camera I've ever had

Pros: Takes excellent action photos. I took a picture of the moon and I think it turned out great. Love that it takes great pictures in low light too.

Cons: Nothing bad yet. If you want to really get the max out of it, you need to read the instruction manual.

Pros: 36X zoom, 3.0" screen that tilts and pops out, sturdy yet lightweight construction.

Cons: When playing back videos you can hear the motor hum as the lens zoom in and out.

5 out of 5 eggsDoes Everything

Pros: Full featured yet intuitively easy to use if you just want to point and shoot. Outstanding optical zoom and image stabilization even at full range.

Cons: Not a dSLR, but also doesn't involve the complexity or price.

Other Thoughts: This is what 99% of average folks should be buying.

5 out of 5 eggsSo far, very happy

Pros: For the average (photograhy challenged) user, I am very happy with this camera. No wanting to spend the big bucks on a dSLR, the P500 is great. I'm learning more about the manual settings, and a little knowledge on the settings goes a long way. Even in full auto, I'm pleased with the quality.

Cons: None with the exception on the in-camera recharge. First thing I did was buy an extra battery and a separate charger.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent for experienced photographer

Pros: Excellent camera for an experienced photographer to use as a backup / highly portable alternative to a dSLR. If you understand photography and how to adjust dSLR settings to optimize the images produced (not even considering post-processing), you will be able to produce highly serviceable images from the P500. It's the camera that's with you when the dSLR is too bulky to drag along, Most of the complaints seen on the web appear to be from novice users taking images in full auto mode, with all default settings. A little knowledge and experience goes a long way in extracting the best performance out of this little package. Highly recommended.

Cons: None of significance. Appeared to be an early issue of the battery spontaneously discharging overnight, but this seems to have been rectified. Also - the in-camera charger supplied with the unit is not the way to go (takes 4+ hours to charge in camera!!). Immediately get a spare battery and the Nikon MH-61 (very inexpensive!) off-camera charger.
