Buy the SD800 instead!!! 10Mpixels are not what they're cracked up to be!
- Pros: I'm a designer and was looking for a very high quality, yet easy to use on the fly camera. I thought 10 mega pixels would be great for larg prints. I was very disappointed. The SD900 does well in day light or with flash but its impossible to get clear images due to hand shake. If you don't mind always using a tripod, or plan on taking mostly outdoor, bright lit photos, this would be a good camera. Its easy to use, a good size, and looks good.
- Cons: No matter how high the ISO is on this thing, you can't get good indoor photos without the image stability funciton that you'll find on the SD800IS powershot. Canon has tried to cram too many megapixels onto a tiny chip in this camera. The only reason why you would need 10 mega pixels is to print large scale and you can't do it because the images are so grainy.
- Other Thoughts: Don't waste your time with this camera. Go buy the Power Shot SD800IS. The SD800IS has the same functions plus image stability which makes a world of difference. 10 mega pixels aren't what they're cracked up to be.
Awesome Camera
- Pros: High resolution/mega pixels. Great video quality, ease of use, easy to edit. Works with 8 GB SDHC memory card. Provided manual tells you how to do everything, but menu system on camera makes it easy to figure out on your own. USB transfers are fast and easy, no software necessary.
- Cons: None.
- Other Thoughts: Only things that would make it better would be 30 fps on the high res video, a 3 inch screen, and a higher optical zoom. I knew I wasn't getting this when I bought it and am still very pleased with the camera.

Best compact
- Pros: Takes amazing pictures. Note larger sensor compared with standard 1/2.5 creates better images at identical megapixel rating. Manual settings useful sometimes too. Camera responds very fast-compare with Olympus processing speed.
- Cons: Wish it had more optical zoom, but size limits.
- Other Thoughts: I shopped and researched for a week. I am very satisfied. If you buy online, try at the store first. Get a case too. I went back for one.
Outstanding Camera
- Pros: Takes excellent photos with adequate light. Even the digital zoom provides clear pictures with 10 megapixels! We just came back from vacation with over 1000 photos and all of the bad shots were human error. It's good with moving targets and compares favorably with 35mm film cameras.
- Cons: None
- Other Thoughts: This camera replaced a Canon SD550 whic we like a great deal. Trouble is, the beach salt seemed to mess up the circuits--it kept powering off, even in the middle of a shot. The SD550 is no our beach-only camera.
A Dream
- Pros: The camera's performance and picture quality have been nothing short of stellar. And the XVGA res in movie mode is really nice to have. The scene modes work like a dream, as over the course of a trip I was able to try out the fireworks, night portrait and underwater modes and they all produced superb pictures.
- Cons: None, only a few specs I would have liked to have seen in the top of the line model, which I mention in my other thoughts and knew before buying that the cam didn't have these features...
- Other Thoughts: I'd have liked to see a larger zoom, image stabilization, zoom when recording video and a 30 fps rate for the XVGA video, but nothing stops this camera from taking very very beautiful pictures and great video. Simply put, depite the list of features above missing from the cam, I still love this little piece of technology.
