I'm in love
- Pros: There are so many ways to work with this camera. It's going to take me forever to learn them all to get the most out of this camera, but if I could post the pictures I've taken with it here in just 24 hours of having my hands on this thing I would. The pictures are a testament to the camera. The battery life is pretty good too. I've charged only once so far and the battery meter hasn't gone down one tick even with on and off usage over about 3 days. Still gonna by a spare battery though when I can. Easy to use. Plenty of features.
- Cons: Should come with a bigger flash card. Macro and flash are not friends. And the screen is a little hard to see on a bright sunny day, but that's not a big deal...With auto, you see enough to frame the picture properly and in manual, there's a light meter on the side of the screen which helps majorly. With sun on the screen it's hard to tell if you are getting the right exposure, but as long as you know how to work with a light meter it's all good.
- Other Thoughts: I've worked with a lesser powershot and it was wonderful, but by far this is amazing. I haven't even read the manual yet to figure out everything. It's very easy to use though. I've done so much with this camera without having to look at the manual.
Good camera for the serious amateur
- Pros: RAW mode support; 6x optical zoom; optical stabilizer; large 3.0" screen; redeye reduction; rugged, retro look-and-feel; easy controls; full manual control; 30 fps VGA video; flash shoe and lens attachment for expandability
- Cons: No CF support; lens sometimes visible in viewfinder; no foldout screen; AV/DigitalOut door is fragile when open
- Other Thoughts: Compact, given its featureset. Seems to address some of the criticisms of the G7.

I Recommend It
- Pros: Wow! This camera takes amazing pictures. It's very easy to use on automatic mode. Loads of features I'll never use. Some I will. It aslo has a very attractive design. The screen is HUGE compared to others! This sure makes a difference when reviewing pictures before looking at them on your computer. Zoom is also surprisingly good. What an upgrade from my old 3.1MP Kodak DX3900.
- Cons: The power button is very close to the shutter button. This has been a problem because I have hit the power button and shut off the camera several times instead of snapping the shot. I will get used to it though.
- Other Thoughts: Buy it! You won't be disappointed.
Fantastic Buy
- Pros: Very high and clear picture quality. Like-DSLR. Shoots in RAW. Many controls to get a more advanced shot. Great Macro ability. Video quality looks good as well, but I haven't really used it much nor did I get the camera for that purpose. Manual Focus ability, aperture priority, shutter priority, portrait mode. Macro/Normal mode. 2 custom settings as well. Can manually control ISO physically on the camera, and shutter speed/aperture control's are easy on the lcd screen.
- Cons: Semi-noisy pics in low light such as indoor situations after ISO 200, but will take better pictures with better indoor lighting. Some what grainy after ISO 200 in low light.
- Other Thoughts: Let's put it this way, this is NOT the camera you give mom or dad for their birthday which they'll use on all their trips ;) . This is a more advanced camera geared toward those who are interested in learning about real photography or those who would want to take the time for a more advanced camera. This is not really a point and shoot as you'll want an SD790 or similar for that purpose . If you're looking for something more advanced and either need something small for your shots or just want to impress family and friends then this is the camera for you. Get a fast 4 gig or greater sdhc and an extra battery and you'll be in instant hit !!! For the size and price this is a very powerful camera.
All I can say is WOW!
- Pros: Very high quality pictures.... Soooo many options.
- Cons: Not a con so much, but it is going to be some learning curve to master all the features.
- Other Thoughts: I only got this camera a fews days ago, and I have already had a picture I took featured on a local news station. Even though I am a novice at photography, it can really take some fantastic shots. People were amazed by the video clips, saying "I didn't know you had a video camera...".
