5 out of 5 eggsI Recommend It

Pros: Wow! This camera takes amazing pictures. It's very easy to use on automatic mode. Loads of features I'll never use. Some I will. It aslo has a very attractive design. The screen is HUGE compared to others! This sure makes a difference when reviewing pictures before looking at them on your computer. Zoom is also surprisingly good. What an upgrade from my old 3.1MP Kodak DX3900.

Cons: The power button is very close to the shutter button. This has been a problem because I have hit the power button and shut off the camera several times instead of snapping the shot. I will get used to it though.

Other Thoughts: Buy it! You won't be disappointed.

5 out of 5 eggsFantastic Buy

Pros: Very high and clear picture quality. Like-DSLR. Shoots in RAW. Many controls to get a more advanced shot. Great Macro ability. Video quality looks good as well, but I haven't really used it much nor did I get the camera for that purpose. Manual Focus ability, aperture priority, shutter priority, portrait mode. Macro/Normal mode. 2 custom settings as well. Can manually control ISO physically on the camera, and shutter speed/aperture control's are easy on the lcd screen.

Cons: Semi-noisy pics in low light such as indoor situations after ISO 200, but will take better pictures with better indoor lighting. Some what grainy after ISO 200 in low light.

Other Thoughts: Let's put it this way, this is NOT the camera you give mom or dad for their birthday which they'll use on all their trips ;) . This is a more advanced camera geared toward those who are interested in learning about real photography or those who would want to take the time for a more advanced camera. This is not really a point and shoot as you'll want an SD790 or similar for that purpose . If you're looking for something more advanced and either need something small for your shots or just want to impress family and friends then this is the camera for you. Get a fast 4 gig or greater sdhc and an extra battery and you'll be in instant hit !!! For the size and price this is a very powerful camera.

5 out of 5 eggsAll I can say is WOW!

Pros: Very high quality pictures.... Soooo many options.

Cons: Not a con so much, but it is going to be some learning curve to master all the features.

Other Thoughts: I only got this camera a fews days ago, and I have already had a picture I took featured on a local news station. Even though I am a novice at photography, it can really take some fantastic shots. People were amazed by the video clips, saying "I didn't know you had a video camera...".

4 out of 5 eggsWhat You Want Baby I Got IT

Pros: I am a Canon Power Shot G9 with 12.1 mega pixels of lusciousness and 6x of unigravitational optical zoomage. Stretching with supreme charisma, I have every option an amateur photography + some bombdigity video recording abilities. If given he chance, I would love to take pictures of Jessica Alba, Kate Mara and Bat Man. If I was simple, I would be wrong...if I was smart I would be dumb. SO that what I am and how I will stay until canon gives me a brand spankin new boday.

Cons: I have an optical viewfinder nobody likes. I never get used under water. I can see whats in front but not whats in back.

Other Thoughts: If you change your mind, I’m the first in line
Honey I’m still free
Take a chance on me

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Camera

Pros: This camera has been super, better than I expected. Good quality feel. The pictures on high are 3k X 4k large, 12 meg, and take a lot of space in drives and sticks of memory, however, luckily, the new stuff is larger, heh. With this, you can be creative as you like to a certain level above my ability, or use the auto modes and take great pics, it has all the preset like night portrait, fireworks settings, snow/beach etc.

Cons: The only con I have found is that the noise level is pretty high for an semi-expensive camera, above 400 ASA equiv is nothing you would want to make a large poster of, but I do few posters. This is due, I believe, to the 1/1.7" sensor size at 12 meg density. When I bought I knew this, so it is not a surprize, but don't think you will get clear as DSLR results, tho I would be hard pressed to tell the diff in a comparison with 8X10 prints.

Other Thoughts: The whole camera reminds me of the old time 50s cameras just before the SLRs took over, with Leica and such names. The zoom is great, no need for more from me. The movies are super, as LONG AS YOU HAVE ENOUGH LIGHT! This is important in taking movies with digital cameras, they will look grainy and dim with less than daylight or bright rooms. But when enough light is enabled, the results are gratifying and look good full screen like a movie does. I have not tried the lower than full resolution, so won't comment on that.

5 out of 5 eggsA Great Camera

Pros: This is an amazing camera! I bought it to replace my larger Canon G6 and I really love it - it is small enough to carry in a belt case but has every feature of a pro-sumer camera. Even better battery life than the G6 (with smaller batteries) and a really great LCD. I have not experienced any problems with the LCD on my camera.

Cons: The lens / filter adapter from Canon for this camera is plastic and doesn't lock to the camera correctly.

5 out of 5 eggsCompact camera with DSLR functions

Pros: Excellent sharpness, great macro, RAW files, short start up time. Great for underwater photography. Acceptable ISO 400.

Cons: ISO over 400 is useless. Wide end not really wide, which is only 35mm translated to 35mm format. It can be solved buying wide angle lens converter for additional $$$. Using external flash mounted on hot shoe cause quite serious delay between pressing shutter release button and actual flash fires (about 1 second tested only with NIKON flash).

Other Thoughts: It can go with me whenever my big DSLR can not. I'm going to use it for underwater photography with dedicated cannon casing WP DC21. I would rather have less megapixels with less noise.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Video and Pictures

Pros: The video function is surprisingly good, it adjusts exposure with respect to available light. Big 3.5" screen, should buy the screen protector to preserve the beauty. Start up is very quick, you can begin shooting in one second. I like the lens being hidden until camera is on, no need for a lens cap. The pictures have excellent color and focusing is not an issue with this model compared to the Canon G5. Great functionality. So far I am very happy with this purchase.

Cons: Body is smaller than the Canon G5, which I upgraded from, so it is a little harder for me to hold it, but it can fit in your coat pocket.

Other Thoughts: Newegg shipping is excellent! This model has an available underwater case. I would like to see how well that works.

5 out of 5 eggsJack of all, master of most

Pros: Picture, build quality, Range of features, power-on speed and lack of shutter lag. Was going for DSLR but went for this as an interim measure until kids are older and I have less of their stuff to lug.

Cons: High ISO noise

Other Thoughts: love this camera- works great.
