Fantastic Camera, but suggest you buy somewhere else
- Pros: Fantastic Quality for my hobbyist photography needs. Although it's plastic, this build is sturdy as a rock. The hand grip is a little tight for my tastes, but works great for my wife so I made the compromise.
In addition, image quality is fantastic, especially with a kit lens. I will say that, by default, the pictures are a little soft for my tastes but you can easily set a custom picture style to sharpen up the images, if you prefer.
Also, some people don't like the lightness of this camera, and I didn't think I would either. However, it is a joy to walk and shoot with because of its weight.
- Cons: For hobbyist needs, this camera will not disappoint. I would have liked to have seen the addition of a Kelvin temperature white balance setting, but the defaults are reasonable and shooting in RAW makes it a mute point. Also, I can only imagine that it would make a superb backup pro camera as well.
No cons with the camera, but read below for my comments on purchasing this camera from NewEgg.
- Other Thoughts: It is my strong suggestion that you pay attention to the following before ordering this camera from NewEgg:
-Price (Usually reasonable) -Return Policy (Limited Non-Refundable 30-days) -Price Guarantee (They won't refund you the difference)
If you are on the fence between this camera and another, then purchase it from NewEgg, you will not be able to get your money back in the case that you realize you wanted the other camera.
In addition, if you purchase this camera and the price drops $20 before it even arrives at your house, like me, NewEgg will not refund the difference.
However, another reputable online retailer (ama-zon.com) (remove the -) offers the same product at a cheaper price (at the time of this review), with a better return and refund policy, and a 30-day price guarantee. This means if the price drops after you purchase the item, you can contact them and be refunded the difference.
If I could purchase this item again, it would be through ama-zon.com
Best Camera I've ever had...
- Pros: Nice size and weight, very solid, feels great in the hands. Beautiful huge LCD. Included lens is pretty nice although the 28-235mm woulda been alot nicer, still it takes great sharp pictures. Controls are very easy to understand. Nice mix of presets and manual setting, very versatile. Really nice neck strap. Very impressed with the overall quality of construction. I've used many digital cameras over the years, this is my first DSLR, and really the best camera I ever owned. My other camera is a Kodak z1012, and this makes that look like a toy. I love this Canon camera and I'm taking it everywhere with me...even to bed :) I am very satisfied with my purchase, especially at the new lower price.
- Cons: Hmmm, let me think about that...ummmmm ?
- Other Thoughts: As usual, I got it in just 2 days. I heard people bashing UPS, and I know I've had maybe 1 or 2 issues with them over the years, but with Newegg they always deliver my stuff a day early, which is way cool, so I have nothing bad to say about UPS in my case. Maybe cause I'm a techie, but I find the learning curve on my first DSLR 'real' camera to be pretty easy, if you really read the manual it helps alot, plus there's helpful videos on youtube. All in all, I'm taking great photos right out of the box..guess I'm a fast learner.

Beast
- Pros: -12mp
-love the auto bracketing -nice features
- Cons: -none really but some of the canon lens quality are a joke.
- Other Thoughts: -good for everyday needs.
random comment: Canon Mark IV :O
Great camera for a budding photographer
- Pros: I wanted to finally upgrade to a DSLR and chose the Rebel XSi as my first high-end camera. I absolutely love it so far. I've had no problems with it, and the amount of features for altering the way the picture is taken continues to impress me. I've yet to get into any of the more advanced photography methods or even getting new lenses, but from what I've seen, this camera will do wonderfully for my purposes.
- Cons: None
Great Camera
- Pros: I am very happy that I purchased this camera. I've had a lot of fun with in the short time I've had it.
I've been buying from NewEgg for a number of years and they have yet to disappointment me.
- Cons: Did not come with a $500.00 dollar bill.
- Other Thoughts: This would make a great camera for anyone wanting to get into photography. It's been a while since I've taken any type formal photography class so it's a bit slow going.
I would also recommend to anyone wanting to get into photography that they take basic photography class. There is so much more to taking pictures other than "point and shoot".
