5 out of 5 eggsGreat Camera

Pros: Sharp pictures, fast, great lens

Cons: The start up time is slower than what I'm used to with my nikon

Other Thoughts: I've had this camera for a while now and paid 1200 new over a year ago to have this lens with it. The lens is ALMOST the same quality as some of canon's high end lenses. The lens is ACCURATE, quick and sturdy.

5 out of 5 eggsCanon EOS Rebel T2i - my favorite camera

Pros: - low light sensitivity
- fast shutter speed
- rich detail and color
- endless variability in manual settings
- proven Canon EF mount for lens selection
- good all-purpose lens
- multi-point focus when desired
- relatively low weight (for SLRs)
- long battery life (over 400 shots per charge)
- wide selection of pre-programmed settings

Cons: - price
- bulk
- flash range
- data size (6-10 MB on average per JPEG, 25-30 MB per RAW)

Other Thoughts: This has become my favorite camera for nearly any venture. I bought the T2i primarily for wildlife and landscape photography; it generates luscious landscape photos -- especially seascapes. What I found truly amazing was its performance under low light conditions. The ISO 6400 capability allows me to take flashless pictures I never dreamt of and breathtaking night-time photos of city lights (especially reflecting over water).

Getting the most out of this camera will take a lot of practice and study but you can amaze yourself with it right out of the box.

I ended up coupling my T2i to a different all-purpose lens -- the Tamron 18-270 -- but this 18-135 is a good all-purpose selection for most uses that gives you decent overlap with Canon's L-series IS USM 100-400 zoom.

This is NOT the camera for someone who wants a compact point-and-shoot but it IS the camera for the prosumer who wants to swap between the ease of point-and-shoot and the control of manual settings.

5 out of 5 eggsBest Camera for the budding photographer or movie maker.

Pros: The Canon EOS Line has been in use by my family and professional photographer friends for as long as I can remember. The Canon EOS Rebel T2i is, in my opinion, the best camera you can get under the $1200 mark. If you're familiar with advanced photography then you already know this is THE go to budget setup. If you're NOT a professional photographer, but are looking to get into photography, this is a camera that will grow with you and allow you to do 99% of what photography has to offer. Along with the impeccable line of Canon lenses, there's just not anything you CAN'T do with this amazing camera. I upgraded from an old Canon EOS Rebel XS and I'm just flabbergasted with it many options and overall performance. I purchased mine at Costco because they had a super deal on a "starter kit" that came with two lenses, carrying case, flash and a few other nik naks (all canon brand), it's the first time I've bought an electronic outside the EGG in over 6 years. I'm still a loyal EGGer!

Cons: Can't find a single one, if I HAD to pick ONE con about the camera, it would be that it doesn't have the swivel screen like the T3i, but that would be my only "nit pick".

Other Thoughts: If you're a serious photographer, or a novice that wants to get deep into photography / movie making there's a little thing called "Magic Lantern". In simple terms, or a simple analogy rather, Magic Lantern does for the T2i (also the 50D/550D/60D and T3i) what removing a governor on a new car does for its performance. Magic Lantern opens up possibilities and performance for this Camera that are, quite simply put, nothing short of miraculous. It allows you to make true, full use of the camera's 35mm full frame sensor (which, generally, you can only get in ultra expensive, hollywood grade HD cameras, you're talking $30k+ cameras). If you're wanting to really get creative, this is the camera you want. The upgrade-able firmware means that you won't be out of date or want a new camera in the next half a decade or so. I could go on and on about how fantastic this camera is, but you won't truly understand until you own one.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Camera

Pros: Great Resolution on sensor, easy access to most commonly needed buttons, features normally only available on higher priced camera's New Egg shipped fast and at a better price than I could find anywhere, and from a reputable retailer that I trust.

Cons: This is not really a con but I have figured out that the sensor has the ability to record far more resolution and detail than the kit 18 - n135 lens can provide. If youhave the money you may be better off buying body and buying a better lens. I wish that the camera was more weather resistant like the 60D

5 out of 5 eggsWHAT A CAMERA!!!!

Pros: Wanted to buy the Nikon D3100. Tried the Nikon out and was not impressed. Tried the Canon T2i camera out at the store and the Canon was idiot proof. The pictures just turn out great. Movement, bad light, it did not matter. So I ordered the T2i. This was my first DSLR camera and now there is no going back. With point and shoots you are lucky to get 1 out of 10 pictures to turn out decent. As I said, this camera is idiot proof. It will grow with you. Your kids are only young once. It is worth its weight in gold. I don't have time to tell you how amazing your photos will be. The 1080p video is stunning. MAKE SURE YOU BUY THE CLASS 10 SD card that does 30MB/s. It will let you maximize the potential in your camera. I was worried about carring a large DSLR camera on trips. Make sure you get a good shoulder bad or backpack to avoid these issues. I go everywhere with this thing and the memories are priceless. Recommend the 55-250 lense. If you buy it in a package it is worth the little extra.

Cons: Video. If you do not buy a class 10 (30MB/s), 200x SDHC card you will have problems with using the full 1080p video. Buy it and forget all video problems.

Other Thoughts: I tend to over research everything. Almost to the point of crazy. Simply put, the camera will fit you like a glove and grow with your willingness to learn. Or? If you want to leave the camera on full auto, you can't lose.

5 out of 5 eggsMost excellent T2i

Pros: WOW! No regrets on this purchase at all! I'm so glad I caught newegg's awesome deal! I got a camera/laptop bag & a tripod! Not to mention that this awesome camera came with this SWEET lens! I have a good range from wide angle, to good close ups in seconds! Man this thing is so cool!!! I'm so glad I bought when I did, because newegg is out of stock now and @m@zon's prices on this cam are going up everyday!

Cons: GNONE!! (The G is silent...)

Other Thoughts: WOW!!

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome

Pros: Features, 18-135mm lens, price

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: What a deal. I have been looking at this camera for a while but never pulled the trigger. Then I saw it on special for $839 w/ free shipping. I got it 3 days later and all I can say is "Wow". Picture quality is incredible. The articulating screen of the new T3i didn't interest me as I can see it getting knocked off and there is now performance advantage to the newer model.
