3 out of 5 eggsnot bad

Pros: Really good quality photos.

Cons: Body seems a bit flimsy and it takes a long time to process the photo.

Other Thoughts: for the price you cant beat the quality photos but I'll jump into a DSLR next year.

5 out of 5 eggsKodak Z981

Pros: The camera performs very good as advertised. I had to purchase a memory card to use the video but I found a good one and it performs well. I got a 32GB memory card and it shows that it will hold about 6,000 photos at the resolution set on the camera. I like the camera very much. It appears that all aspects of the camera are easy to access and the camera functions are intuitive.
I like the way the camera downloads the photos into a selected file on the computer hard drive. It is nice to have the photos identified when they are saved so that you can search for them when desired.

Cons: It appears that the batteries don't last very long when using the camera and the batteries have gone down twice since I have had the camera. They went down over night, even thought the camera was not on.
Other than the battery life being short and the batteries running down overnight, I like the camera and would recommend it to anyone that wishes a high performance camera.

Other Thoughts: At this time, I have no recommendations or thoughts that I can offer concerning the camera.

4 out of 5 eggsVery good

Pros: Looks good, excellent camera features, easy of use.

Cons: As mentioned by somebody else in his review, it retains the noises made by the camera (like zooming in/out, etc) while shooting a video. Also it seems that some part within the camera isn't fit snugly - it moved around within.

Other Thoughts: It would have been nice if it came with a bag and a bigger memory card.

5 out of 5 eggsDead on Arrival

Pros: What I want: wide angle lens, long zoom, view finder. Handy.
Great price.

Cons: None yet.

Other Thoughts: The camera did not even turn on. Reported this to Newegg and got RMA on the spot.
A new camera was in my hands the day after next. This one does turn on!
Hurray for Newegg!

4 out of 5 eggsNice Nice

Pros: Initially, I like how this camera feels and is an upgrade to my old camera (which is really old). All the equipment was in there with no damage. Pre-charged batteries mean only 1 bar (at least for me). So I was able to play with it for about an hour before it shutting down on me.

Cons: Instruction manual sucks, but it does refer you to an online manual which I haven't checked, but I would guess has more information.

Other Thoughts: The common problem that I saw reading other reviews was that the battery compartment was hard to close. Apparently that problem is non-existent now (at least for the camera I got). I have no problem opening and closing my battery compartment with or without batteries.

2 out of 5 eggsDissatisfied or Broken?

Pros: Good zoom, feels good in your hand, uses AA batteries so can always pick up extra batteries no matter where you are.

Cons: ONE BIG CON...I would press the shutter button and literally count one thousand one, one thousand two, one thousand three...SNAP it finally took the picture. The advertised click-to-capture time is around .3 seconds so I contacted Kodak and the guy suggested I shoot in a multi-shot burst mode so I wouldn't miss whatever I was trying to shoot. Wow, that is helpful. Also the image quality was lackluster.

Other Thoughts: If you will only be photographing things that don't move you will be fine but with a baby whose faces change in an instant I RMA'ed this camera and ordered a Canon Rebel XS.

2 out of 5 eggsDefective

Pros: When this went on sale I snapped it up because I have been extremely pleased with all my Kodak point and shoot cameras. I was looking forward to the 26x zoom and higher mexapixel count. I liked the SLR feel to it, including the removeable lens cap. In most aspects, this is an excellent camera. However ....

Cons: There is a distinct clicking noise in movie mode. It is incredibly noticeable during movie playback on the computer. You can barely hear the clicking while you are shooting movies, but during playback it is extremely distracting. I have returned the camera for a refund.

Other Thoughts: I would be willing to purchase this camera in the future if Kodak demonstrates they have fixed this problem.

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing Camera @ a ridiculously low price

Pros: I pre-ordered my camera before it came out, and have been capturing great shots ever since. Actually some of the best moments come when I show 8X12 prints to gearheads who own 1,000 Japanese cameras. They won’t say it, but they are jealous of the shots I have gotten. Especially in difficult lighting conditions. The Kodak software makes all the difference. And of course they can’t get 26 to 1 zoom without changing lenses.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: It would be nice if it had an auxiliary flash shoe like my 980.
