5 out of 5 eggsGreat camera

Pros: Takes great pictures. Very easy to use. I like that the on/off is a switch and not a button so you can't accidentally hit it.

Cons: It's bordering being too small for my big hands.

Other Thoughts: I was looking for a compact camera that was under $300. I'm very happy with my purchase.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: I like the size, features. Feels good in my hands.

Cons: When photos are zoomed in on the lcd screen they look fuzzy when you zoom in, not what i've seen on other lower MP cameras.

Also when recording videos you are limited to 8minutes and 30 some seconds before the video will 'end' and you have to start a new one

5 out of 5 eggsi like it!

Pros: 25mm wide lens is great. stabilize feature, it's fast. fits in my pocket.

as always newegg rocks.

Cons: the actual image quality isnt very good, but i didnt expect anything amazing from such a tiny camera.

Other Thoughts: the 25mm lens makes up for the lower quality of photos, makes compositions more dynamic.. imo, and thats what i was looking for.

5 out of 5 eggsInitial Impressions

Pros: Build: is good and the quality of the battery cover is no longer flimsy like some other Panasonic models. Bought the black version and it's very grippy, feels like a rubberized coating, but it's not? Likely a plastic, but a very nice and durable feel.

Photo quality: There is noise when you pixel peek, but without a proper studio comparison it's too hard to tell if this is worse or better or the same as past models. You need to shoot with the right options and "natural" seams to be the least sharped and I suspect there is less noise filtering artifacts than older models.

Flash: it seams powerful enough to work at ~12ft and I have not tried anything further. What really impresses is that it works great in close up macro shots. I will be using this for an ad-hoc scanner with no lighting issues now.

Video: 720p/30fps works great.

SDHC: Using Transcends 16Gb class6 and no issues at 720p30fps. Transferred 205 test shots (1.85Gb) to my laptop in ~110sec (via transcends USB reader)

Cons: Build: very good, but not as good as a solid metal case. I suspect some of the screws are only cosmetic. I am guessing it will stand up to some abuse.

Photo quality: to soon to tell, but I'm happy and I can be picky. It is a small sensor that's giving you a lot. Have not been able to lower noise by dropping the resolution and I was hoping it would. Perhaps there is a shooting mode where this is the case, but I've only tinkered for a few hours over a few days and there is lots to explore.

Lens: did not notice blatant barrel distortion at 25mm and so it's better than I had hoped in something so small. Hopefully the just announced fx500 will have similar optics, but the increased tele end (125mm vs 100mm) will make it a little more useful.

Video: does not zoom during video. I new this was the case before purchase and that the upcoming TZ5 would allow zoom during video, but this smaller form factor is a bigger sell for me. Don't expect camcorder quality, but quality is decent @ 72

Other Thoughts: I'm impressed by the form factor combined with the overall functionality and build. It is a good price for what you get.

Really impressed by the Trancend 16Gb SDHC. Panasonic suggests an advertised 10Mb/s card, but this card only advertises a minimum sustained 6Mb/s. Perhaps the high end is 20Mb/s like the class6 SDHC Panasonic cards. This card is a very good deal IMOP. My USB card reader transfer was loosely timed, but it would have been between 15 and 20 Mb/s transfer. I would say, get this card i you get this camera and need a new card.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Light weight, compact, quick start, and improved image quality by vinus engine 4. Especially, video recording (1280 x 720, 16:9) is excellent. It is of great utility. I am also using Panasonic HDC-SD1(AVCHD) camcoder. Surely, HDC-SD1 is better in terms of resolution and quality, because it is camcoder-dedicated. But FX 35's video recording quality is good enough, even comparable. Consider this is a compact camera. Its video recording spec will be best among current compact models. It provides bright, clear, and vivid colors. After recording, you can directly connect to TV. Normal AV and 1080i component output are supported. With 16 GB memory, 1 hour recording is possible in 1280 x 720, 30 frames (3 hours in 640 x 480, 30 frames). It's handy and cheap, compared to general camcoders. Probably, no need to use camcoder for most cases.. Overall, FX 35 looks practical and good for baby picture/video.

Cons: Picture quality looks "good" (4/5). But it depends on personal preference.

Other Thoughts: I didn't test its wide angle function. But I can easily feel the difference when I have a view to take pictures. Even in a close distance, images are less distorted.
