5 out of 5 eggsBest for the Price

Pros: 14 MP - on a 1080p screen you cn zoom in on a picture far enough to see if anyone was wearing coverup to cover and pimples - exceptionally clear. Tons of features.

Cons: I knew before I bought it what it would look like, but I can't help to wonder why 4 AA batterys and why did the batterys it came with die in the first day of use.
Again, known before purchase, it only has a 27mm lens.

Other Thoughts: I bought the camera for my girlfriend and she loves it, as a matter of fact she signed up for a photography class just to show off/learn more abut her new camera. Money well spent in my opinion.

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing deal

Pros: This camera replaced a 8 MP digital camera, non-SLR, and wow. The difference is amazing. It has a nice, dense feel in the hands without being heavy, the buttons aren't cramped together, the auto-focus is a nice feature, and the camera is overall very user (and noob) friendly.
If you haven't seen 14 megapixels in 1080P glory, you are missing out, the clarity is amazing. It appears solidly built, and the flash has a physical button that enables(opens) it, so no need to try to fiddle through submenus to turn flash on or off.

Cons: Camera showed up with 2 fingerprints on the lens, not too happy about that. The heft to the camera could cause some people to be overly nervous in it's use, especially if used to the negligible weight of a digital camera. It weighs about 3x as much as my Motorola Droid. Didn't affect me personally.

Other Thoughts: It isn't a con, but there is a nearly imperceptible whir when moving the camera quickly. This is completely negated by the image stabilization quality. This is also probably the culprit. It is barely audible, and I am only noting it for review clarity, not because it bugs me. I got this camera on Cyber Monday at an incredible price, shipped to me in 3 days for free, with a free gift of a $40 dollar tripod. The tripod is also a quality item.

To be perfectly honest, I am completely blown away by the price-to-quality ratio. Thank you Newegg for continuing to exceed my expectations!

PS: This is a gift, I only opened/tested to ensure that it functioned properly.. If I remember too, I will post some more images taken with it.

PPS: A 14.1 megapixel pictures is between 3,000-3,300 KB. A SD card is an absolute necessity. Onboard memory only allows 3 pictures.

5 out of 5 eggsSurprisingly good camera

Pros: Lots of features. Uses AA batteries.

Cons: Full resolution not obvious on camera screen (but there in the saved computer file).

Other Thoughts: For the typically low price, this is an exceptional deal. I've got a number of other digital cameras and this camera closely approaches their capability at at a much less painful price.

5 out of 5 eggscouldn't pass it up

Pros: Ditto to the 2 previous reviewers. Even though the camera is light it still fits my hand and the buttons are all right there. I have not had the chance to really test this camera but it has all the features that I need. The 15X optical zoom, image stabilization, electronic viewfinder, etc.

Cons: For the price non that I can think of.

Other Thoughts: I am replacing a 7 Mp camera that I have had for a few years but don't really use because you have to get everything just right to take good photos. I think that I will remember to grab this one because it is so easy to use. I agree with Seabat that a cable release would be a great idea.

5 out of 5 eggsGE X5 worth the money

Pros: Great camera with alot of choices. If you are a old 35 mm person like I am and dont want to shell out a ton of cash this one will fit your needs. Great clear pictures. 14 MP great, no write issues to SDHC card 8 gig Transend. Auto choices are also great for rookie shooting. Firework mode is great but you will need a tri pod to get the great photos.

Cons: None, really used this thing for a full two weeks straight on vacation with no issues. Battery usage no issues.

Other Thoughts: With the price it is way better than those little point in shoots if you want a 35mm feel. NewEgg Rocks as always.. Fast and on time. The EGG and UPS = best retailer in the world.

5 out of 5 eggsNot bad!

Pros: Price - I got it for 140 bucks! It big enough to get my hands on without fumbling. You can grab it without hitting some darn button all the time. Has a large view screen (yeah), almost 3". You can see what you're shooting now. Seems to be easy on batteries. I'm still on the set that came with it. Takes nice clear, detailed photos and really decent video. Now this is all at the highest resolution, I haven't tried any lower yet. I thought I had some problems with the lens fogging up, but that was just my corndog! <smile> The On/Off switch is a slide-type which is nice. You don't need to find a pencil to push in the button any more. It will handle both SD and SDHC cards. The manual says it will take up to 16GB, but I've only used an 8GB SDHC with no problems

Cons: Most of these are minor/personal type. The lens cap is a loose fit. I'm guessing they did that so if you forget to take it off, when you turn the camera on the lens will knock it off.
To set PM/AM you need to run the hours up, like an alarm clock. If it is at 5:00AM and you want PM you have to run the time up to 12:00 and then to 5:00 again. You can highlite the PM/AM, but I couldn't find a button to change it!
And yet again another USB itsy, bitsy tiny plug. You also use it for your A/V cable (not included).
Battery door seem just as flimsy as all other cameras I've looked at. The idea of putting the SD card in there sucks though. When changing the card, watch your batteries or you might be chasing them around the floor.

Other Thoughts: Onboard memory is only 16MB so you for sure want to pick up a couple of SD/SDHC cards. At the highest resolution pix seem to be about 1.5 to 2MB in size. One minute of video take about 50MB. These are in .mov format, but if you have that insidious iTunes on your computer, you're good to go. If not you need something that will play QuickTime files. Try the free VLCPlayer (Google it)>
And you really need to get some of that clear stuff to put over the view screen to protect it. Believe me, you will get your grubby little fingers all over it no matter how hard you try not to!
If you use a tripod, be aware that the threads on the bottom of the camera are plastic, so don't go all Superman on it.
I sure wish they would put a port for a cable release on these cameras. I'm just sayin'!
