When you need to put some more light on the subject, reach for Canon HF-DC1. The Canon HF-DC1 offers a new level of versatility and capability at an affordable price. This capable unit is compatible with all PowerShot Cameras except SD3500 IS, 600.
The Canon HF-DC1 utilizes wireless technology to provide easy-to-use features and remote control capability. So you can place the Canon HF-DC1 at the optimal location without attaching to the camera to provide the best light condition and angel. With a powerful guide number of 18 meters, the Canon HF-DC1 is able to easily fill the area with sufficient light, helping you get really impressive shots.
Actually worth it
This review is from: Canon HF-DC1 High-Power Wireless Flash for Powershot Digital Cameras
Pros: It's wireless, so you just mount it with the included bracket or place it near the subject you want to light. It is triggered by your camera's flash so you can place it across the room near your subject (yes it can be triggered by any flash). It fits in my pocket and attaches in second while still leaving you the option of using a tripod. Great for parties, outdoors, or for indoors where the lighting's bad and shadows obscure faces. It will work with any camera that has standard mounting threads (or even just hold it along side with your hand in an instant). Three levels of brightness allow you to choose how badly you want to blind people (just kidding) but "max" washes out some faces even 10-15 yards away. It can be set to trigger automatically, or manually with a switch. Good battery life too. I use it with my Cannon SD 1000 (which is always in my pocket) and 890IS.
Cons: Minuscule. It uses a special battery that can be hard to find, but available at most electronic stores (I wish it could be powered by one of my extra Canon NB-4L rechargables, oh well). It could potentially be triggered by another persons camera, but I haven't found this a problem.
Other Thoughts: Makes photos beautiful, and better looking for use online.
